Chapter 154 Inviting the King to Lead the Expedition!
Andrew watched Alan mow down experts like they were nothing, and his eyes blazed with rage.
He wanted to rip Alan apart, but he knew it was too late to change anything.
Andrew commanded, "Fall back!"
Even though he hated it, Andrew ordered the retreat.
"Zachary, you blew it. You were supposed to keep an eye on the Ice King. This mess is all on you!" Andrew snapped.
Despite the loss, Andrew kept his cool.
To him, it was clear that Zachary's failure to contain Alan led to this disaster.
As Andrew and his men pulled back, the Night Stalkers quickly took over Lindataria.
With control of three cities and the capital, the Black Robe Leader was ready to set up his own regime.
"We're finally doing it," the Black Robe Leader said, grinning. After years of being held down, he finally saw a way forward.
The Night Stalkers started taking over Lindataria, Snow City, and Red Peak City in an organized manner.
Meanwhile, Andrew had already made it back to Starcity.
At the Royal Palace Hall in Starcity.
"Your Majesty, the Grand Marshal dropped the ball. He didn't guard the Ice King like he was supposed to, and that's why we failed," Andrew reported as soon as he got back.
Andrew added, "And it's not just that. Generals Derek and Ryan were killed by the Ice King too."
King Rex's face darkened.
King Rex ordered, "Bring the Grand Marshal to me."
Soon, Zachary walked in. Seeing Andrew, he smiled. He asked, "General Andrew, did you take Lindataria?"
Andrew exploded, "Zachary, how dare you! Do you remember what the King told you to do?"
Zachary knew exactly what was going on but played dumb.
Zachary claimed, "General Andrew, what are you talking about? I followed the King's orders to the letter."
"Followed orders?" Andrew scoffed. "If you had, the Ice King wouldn't have shown up in Lindataria, let alone taken Snow City and Red Peak City."
Zachary held back a laugh. He questioned, "General Andrew, did you actually see the Ice King?"
Andrew replied, "Of course."
"Did you really see the Ice King?" Zachary pressed.
Andrew frowned. He replied, "No, but that black-robed archer showed up again. That power is definitely the Ice King's."
Zachary shook his head. He responded, "General Andrew, don't be so sure. I've been guarding the Ice King the whole time."
Andrew claimed, "That's impossible!"
Andrew was stunned.
"General Andrew, if you don't believe me, I'll show it to you." Zachary waved his hand. He revealed, "Here's the mission recording. Your Majesty, General Makino, you can see I've been with the Ice King the whole time."
In the recording, Zachary was seen drinking tea with the Ice King the entire time.
General Makino's face fell, and he staggered back.
"That's impossible!" Andrew was in disbelief. He couldn't understand why the Ice King would be with Zachary.
'Could the black-robed archer not be the Ice King?' Andrew wondered.
Zachary bowed to King Rex. He remarked, "Your Majesty, even though General Andrew is my brother, he failed to retake Lindataria and lost Snow City and Red Peak City. Such a serious failure must be punished!"
Andrew felt a chill run down his spine.
"Your Majesty, this failure is because the black-robed archer in the Night Stalkers is just too powerful," Andrew explained.
"Enough." King Rex's face darkened. He had planned to use this chance to back up Andrew, but now it was hard to justify not punishing him.
Just as King Rex was stuck on what to do, Matthew walked in.
Matthew claimed, "Your Majesty, General Andrew is right. The black-robed archer is the Ice King!"
Matthew's words shocked everyone, and all eyes turned to him.
"Matthew, what are you talking about? I've been guarding the Ice King this whole time," Zachary shot back.
Matthew sneered, "You weren't guarding the real Ice King, just a clone. With the Ice King's power, having a strong clone isn't a stretch, is it?"
Andrew's eyes lit up in relief. He chimed in, "Matthew's right. After the black-robed archer killed Matthew, there was a server-wide announcement. That means the archer isn't a Night Stalker but an adventurer!"
He added, "At this point, the Ice King is already super strong. I don't think there's another archer like him among the adventurers."
Lorenr stepped forward and said respectfully, "Your Majesty, arguing about the archer's identity is pointless now."
"The Night Stalkers have taken Lindataria, Snow City, and Red Peak City. They're ready to set up their own regime. We can't have two regimes in one country," Lorenr continued.
King Rex squinted in annoyance. He asked, "So what's your suggestion?"
Lorenr bowed again. He suggested, "If Andrew can't handle it, there's only one solution."
"And what's that?" King Rex asked.
"Let the King personally lead the expedition!" Lorenr revealed.
This was also Alan's plan. To kill King Rex, he needed him to lead the expedition personally. In the Starcity Royal Palace, killing King Rex was nearly impossible.
"Personally lead the expedition?" King Rex remarked and frowned.
Andrew quickly said, "Your Majesty, your safety is crucial. You shouldn't lead the expedition yourself."
He added, "I'm willing to go again. This time, I won't fail."
Zachary sneered, "General Andrew, you've already failed twice. This time, even Generals Derek and Ryan died. If you go, you're risking more of our soldiers' lives."
Andrew wanted to argue but found himself speechless. Zachary was right; he hadn't figured out a way to deal with the Ice King. The Ice King was just too strong!
"I implore the King to personally lead the expedition and retake the three cities," Zachary bowed, and both Chancellor Lorenr and Grand Marshal Zachary spoke up.
Naturally, the other ministers of Stellaria followed suit.
King Rex took a deep breath, sensing something was off. But with a space teleportation talisman on him, he felt confident. If things got dangerous, he could escape.
Plus, he didn't believe he couldn't defeat the Ice King with his strength.
"In that case, I will personally lead the expedition and retake the three cities!" King Rex declared.
