Chapter 219 Sending You to the Resurrection Altar!
Ambrose thought for a second and nodded.
[A piece of equipment evolution scroll.]
[Ambrose has given you a quest: Help Siren's Slumber Isle kill the two-headed blood-scaled crocodile.]
[Quest requirements: Kill the two-headed blood-scaled crocodile within three days.]
[Quest penalty: Unknown.]
[Quest reward: Equipment evolution scroll +1.]
[Do you accept?]
Alan squinted. "Just one piece of equipment? That's pretty stingy. How about at least 200 free attribute points?"
Ambrose shook his head. "200 is too much. I can give you 50. Deal?"
Alan rolled his eyes.
Ambrose adjusted the reward.
Alan thought for a moment and accepted.
First, he should infiltrate The Siren Family, then handle the rest.
"By the way, who's in room number two?" Alan asked after accepting the quest.
"Well..." Ambrose hesitated. "Technically, we can't reveal guest identities."
Alan pressed, "You said technically."
Ambrose sighed. "His name is Peregrine, a three-time job change gold-level warrior. His real backing is his older brother, a four-time job change platinum-level powerhouse."
"Got it," Alan nodded. "Thanks for the info."
Ambrose smiled. "We're hunting the two-headed blood-scaled crocodile tomorrow morning. Be on time."
"No problem," Alan replied. With the Royal Portal, he could travel anywhere he'd been before.
After Ambrose left, Alan took out the Tome of Life and Death, erased the name of the vampire marquis Oberon, and wrote down Peregrine's name.
In Room 2, Peregrine was waiting for Alan but started losing health rapidly.
[-121758!]
[-121758!]
With the Tome of Life and Death, Alan's health had reached over eleven million.
The Heart of God's Retribution had hit three stars before Alan arrived in the land of chaos.
The three-star Heart of God's Retribution, combined with the Tome of Life and Death, stacked 259,200 health points per day.
The bond with James boosted Alan's health by ten percent.
The Tears of the Goddess of Life equipment added another twenty percent.
So, Alan's health increased by thirty percent overall.
The Tome of Life and Death actually boosted Alan's health by 336,960 points per day.
When it hit three stars, Alan's health was over nine million.
The journey to the Land of Chaos and the arrival at the Rainfield Family took two days.
He then spent an additional half-day reaching the seaside and drifted on the sea for three days, not including the time spent attending the auction. By the time Alan arrived at The Heart of God's Retribution and reached three stars, six days had already passed.
So, Alan's health was over eleven million.
The Tome of Life and Death dealt continuous damage of one percent of his max health + ten thousand, naturally over 120,000.
Peregrine cursed, "What the hell? Why am I losing health for no reason?"
The power of the Tome of Life and Death was beyond ordinary comprehension.
Peregrine couldn't figure out what was happening, but he knew he had to get to the resurrection altar or he'd die.
Seeing Peregrine rush out, Alan made his way to the resurrection altar in Siren City.
An arrow zipped through the air.
Peregrine stopped, eyes locked on his attacker.
Alan gave him a knowing smile. "Hang out at the resurrection altar for now. We'll chat later."
With that, Alan turned into a shadow and slipped out of Siren City.
After leaving, Alan used the Royal Portal to get back to the Rainfield family's territory.
The Ashbourne Family had taken over the Rainfield territory after its fall.
Alan walked right into the territory.
"Who goes there? This is Ashbourne Family's private land. Leave," a tall, burly man blocked Alan's path.
Before Alan could respond, another person rushed over.
"Are you blind? Don't you recognize Mr. Ice?" Leander scolded the burly man and then politely addressed Alan. "Mr. Ice, please come in. If you need anything, just let me know."
Alan asked, "Who's running the Ashbourne Family now?"
Leander instinctively replied, "Uncle Atticus."
"Take me to him."
Leander nodded. "Okay."
Soon, under Leander's guidance, Alan met Atticus.
Leander introduced them, "Atticus, this is Mr. Ice."
Atticus, a three-time job change gold-level warrior at level 189, was higher than Leander.
In Ragnarok, the first job change was at level 20, the second at level 50, the third at level 100, and the fourth at level 200.
So, levels between 100 and 200 were all considered third job changes, with strength varying by level.
Seeing Alan, Atticus was enthusiastic and humble, because he had heard of Alan's strength from Leander.
"Mr. Ice, it's an honor to have you here. I apologize for not welcoming you properly..."
"No need for pleasantries," Alan interrupted. "I heard you're planning to target the Sterling Family?"
Atticus's heart skipped a beat, sensing a hint of accusation in Alan's tone. "Yes, but we haven't taken action yet. If you have any instructions, we'll follow them."
Alan smiled. Atticus was perceptive.
"I'm protecting the Sterling Family. Leave them alone," Alan said.
Atticus replied, "Yes, Mr. Ice. Since you said so, we won't trouble the Sterling Family. I'll personally go and apologize tonight."
Alan finally smiled, satisfied. "Good. Keep your promise and don't be like Percival, who broke his word."
Cold sweat appeared on Atticus's forehead. He knew the tragic fate of Percival and the Rainfield Family.
Cressida was anxious after returning home, wondering if Alan would take it to heart. The equipment evolution scroll was nothing to him actually.
She was restless, fearing that if Alan didn't put in the effort, the Sterling Family would be doomed.
At that moment, a maid's urgent voice came from outside, "Miss, something's wrong, Atticus is here!"
