Chapter 291 Delivering a Great Gift

"This isn't on them. But you, the mayor, showed up late. How do you even have the nerve to yell at anyone?" Alan shot back.

He was starting to realize that Sunset Town wasn't the same one he'd seen at Lysandra's old place.

Sure, the buildings looked familiar, but the people were all different.

Albert, hearing Alan's words, blew up. "Listen here, pal, what's it to you? This is my Sunset Town. I'll chew out whoever I damn well please! Mind your own business!"

Alan's eyes narrowed. "Well, I can make it my business."

The captain of the guards immediately stepped forward, ready to spill the beans on Alan's identity. "Mayor, this is—"

"Move. In the entire Mountain and Sea Empire, who the hell can't I handle?"

With that, he strutted up to Alan. Short and stocky, he had to crane his neck to look Alan in the eye, but his attitude was all swagger. "Listen, kid, don't think just 'cause you saved Sunset Town from the beast tide, you can strut around like you own the place."

A cold glint flashed in Alan's eyes, "Are you really that arrogant?"

Albert looked Alan up and down. "Kid, you've got some nerve talking like that. Must be some hotshot adventurer with a fancy title. But that doesn't mean you can boss me around."

Alan smirked. "Why can't I?"

"Why? Show me your credentials. Let me clue you in—I've got connections in high places. You wanna mess with me? Better know who you're up against."

"Fine. Take a good look." Alan pulled out the token of the Hall of Glory's master.

Albert, seeing the token in Alan's hand, was initially stunned.

Then cold sweat began to pour from his forehead.

Albert instantly dropped to his knees in front of Alan. "Master, I messed up. If I'd known it was you, I wouldn't have even opened my mouth."

Alan smirked. "As the mayor of Sunset Town, why were you MIA when the town was under attack?"

Albert looked sheepish. "My new wife—she's just too damn irresistible. That's my one weakness. I put out the call for adventurers the second I could."

Alan gave him a hard look. "If you're that obsessed with women, step down. Let someone who actually gives a damn run Sunset Town."

"Please, no!" Albert banged his head on the ground. "Master, I worked my ass off for this position. Give me another chance."

"Enough." Albert tried to plead, but Alan cut him off coldly. "Say another word, and I'll kill you."

Hearing this, Albert finally fell silent.

Alan felt good. The master of the sanctuary was no joke.

Back in the day, in situations like this, he would've just pulled out his bow and let the arrows do the talking.

But now, he had the clout to back up his words and make things right.

Right then, outside Sunset Town, a massive burst of fiery energy exploded in every direction.

The boom was deafening.

Alan wasted no time—he had Sea God activate the Sea God domain to shield the town from the fiery shockwaves.

"That's tough," Alan muttered, his face tightening. His undead army was totally wiped out by the blast.

"Nine-time job change, Starlight Tier." Sea God's voice came through.

This sudden change also alarmed many NPCs and players in Sunset Town.

"What's going on? What happened?"

"It feels like a powerful figure has arrived. It doesn't look good."

"Is there some hidden treasure in Sunset Town? Why do things keep happening?"

The discussions continued.

Alan walked out of Sunset Town.

In front of Sunset Town, an old man with a white beard, wrapped in flames and holding a blazing greatsword, appeared.

"Who are you?" Alan asked, keeping his cool.

He wasn't worried. With the God-Slaying Sword Formation, he didn't even need to lean on Sea God or the God of the Undead.

"Your executioner," the old man replied, his voice calm.

In a flash, he vanished—only to reappear right behind Alan.

"Protective Flying Sword!" Alan shouted, and a golden flying sword blocked behind him.

A warrior with a nine-time job change, Starlight Tier, deserved this level of respect from Alan.

"Space Flicker!"

"God-Slaying Sword Formation!"

Alan attacked without hesitation.

Four exquisite flying swords soared into the sky, forming a sword formation.

In an instant, Alan's MP took a nosedive—down by a hundred thousand.

Luckily, Sea God jumped in to replenish his mana, or else he'd have been toast.

The old man's face twisted in shock as he felt the threat of death from the God-Slaying Sword Formation.

The first sword fell.

The white-bearded old man slashed out with his greatsword, and a fiery dragon surged forth.

The fiery dragon was torn apart by the long sword, which then continued to attack the white-bearded old man.

The white-bearded old man was shocked.

He swung his greatsword horizontally and flipped backward, narrowly avoiding Alan's first sword.

Just as he avoided the first sword, the second sword was already in front of him.

"Dragon Flame Domain!" The white-bearded old man shouted, and flames surged around him, forming fiery dragons that converged together.

They charged towards Alan's second sword.

However, it was useless.

The fiery dragons were shredded by the long sword like paper.

One strike.

That's all it took for the long sword to punch straight through the old man's chest.

The Dragon Flame Domain shrank fast, trying to patch him up.

But if he could just heal up like that, the God-Slaying Sword Formation wouldn't have its rep for taking down nine-time job changers without breaking a sweat.

From every angle, raw power surged in, ripping the old man's body apart piece by piece.

In seconds, he was nothing but scraps.

Nine-time job change, Starlight Tier—dead in two moves!

Alan raised his hand.

He directly enslaved the white-bearded old man's soul.

Enslaving the soul of a nine-time job change, Starlight Tier, would be of great help to Alan.

Alan put away the God-Slaying Sword Formation and stepped forward to pick up the items dropped by the NPC.

"Ding, you have obtained Dragon Flame Greatsword+1."

"Ding, you have obtained True Meaning of Fire manual+1."

"Ding, you have obtained free attribute points+5000."

"Ding, you have obtained gold coins+500000."

"Ding, you have obtained..."

A smile appeared on Alan's face. This white-bearded old man was truly a good person, coming all this way to deliver such a great gift!

In the distance.

At the edge of a forest.

Ayla's expression was extremely grim, "Crimson Blossom Demigod, what do you have to say now? Loff White—nine job changes, Starlight Tier—got taken out in two swings. If I'd listened to you and gone after him myself, I'd be dead right now!"
