Chapter 278 Super God-Level Talent: The Brain of Divine Retribution!
Leif suddenly had a lightbulb moment. Even a newbie who'd only switched jobs once could tap into some serious divine power. That had to be divine possession!
Alan had seen the sea goddess and Night Spirit God pull off divine possession in Chaos Territory. So, it wasn't a shocker that Leif could get in on that action too. But, whether this was good or bad news for the Hall of Glory was still up in the air.
An unknown deity possessed their sect master, and he was unclear about its intentions. Leif didn't have much fondness for deities because they were just as greedy, if not more so, than mortals.
From the moment Alan asked for nine divine talent awakening stones, it was clear the deity possessing him had an endless appetite.
Given the Hall of Glory's current state, just surviving under the pressure from all the sanctuaries on the Vast Continent was already a win. As for everything else, they'd just have to play it by ear.
While Leif was stressing out, the other members of the Hall of Glory were pretty pumped. Nothing could be better than having their hall master possessed by a deity.
After weaving through a bunch of pavilions, Alan finally spotted Darius in a big formation spirit pool, just like Leif had mentioned. It looked a lot like a resurrection altar.
Of course, these NPCs couldn't actually be resurrected. But they could still use the healing powers of the altar to get their health back. To make the healing even better, they had set up a spirit pool in the middle of the formation.
"This place is pretty good for healing," the Sea God's voice echoed in Alan's mind. "But the guy in the spirit pool has fire poison from a false god, and it's deep in his bones. It's not gonna be a quick fix."
Alan was a bit taken aback. "Don't tell me you can't heal it either."
"That's not it; I can handle it easily," the Sea God said, sounding a bit smug. "False gods and true gods might look alike, but there's a huge power gap."
"Alright, let's save him," Alan said, stepping up to Darius.
Leif was a bit on edge; he had a hunch about Alan's situation. He wasn't sure if the deity's remnant soul possessing Alan would actually save Darius. Plus, the power of the deity's remnant soul might be just a tiny fraction of its peak, so it was uncertain whether it could heal.
Just as Leif was thinking this, Alan raised his hand. A mysterious force wrapped around Darius, and as Alan moved his hand, Darius slowly floated into the air.
"Disperse!" Alan commanded, and a ball of flame was expelled from Darius's body. Once the flame was out, Darius fell back into the spirit pool. His health started to bounce back.
"Is he really healed just like that?" Leif was stunned, a chill running down his spine. He wondered what level the deity that possessed their hall master was, as even a remnant soul was so powerful.
In the next moment, a wave of power flowed from Alan, hitting Leif and the others. Their injuries started healing right before their eyes.
"This..." Leif felt like his heart couldn't take it; he had just woken up and was already getting hit with one shock after another.
"Thank you, Hall Master," the members of the Hall of Glory said, kneeling together, deeply grateful to Alan.
"You've gone above and beyond Leif's task, and the members of the Hall of Glory are totally loyal to you now and have developed faith in you."A mysterious power started flowing into Alan's body. This was the power of faith! "Alright, you can go now. I need to get familiar with the Hall of Glory," he said.
The others replied, "Yes, Hall Master. If you need anything, just let us know."
After sending Leif and the others away, Alan pulled out a divine talent awakening stone. "Use the divine talent awakening stone."
The system promt sounded. ''Your talent is awakening..."
''Due to your high talent, the divine talent awakening stone can only awaken part of your talent."
''You have awakened the talent: The Brain of Divine Retribution."
[The Brain of Divine Retribution: Super Divine Level.]
[Effect 1: Any of your attacks will ignore any form of shield and damage reduction, causing absolute true damage.]
[Effect 2: Any of your attacks will ignore any form of counter-damage and negative effects.]
[Proficiency: Cannot be upgraded.]
Alan raised an eyebrow. This time, the awakened Brain of Divine Retribution couldn't be upgraded. But the effects were already pretty OP.
Ignoring any form of shield and damage reduction was insanely strong. Even the damage reduction methods of deities and sages couldn't stop Alan's damage. The second attribute of counter-damage was also super impressive.
Alan wasn't too worried about general counter-damage attributes now, but if he faced the counter-damage of demigods, false gods, or even deities in the future, it could be a real pain.
Alan was about to use another divine talent awakening stone when the system prompt came. "Congratulations, your super divine talent has completed the first stage of awakening. The second stage cannot be awakened using a divine talent awakening stone. Please find a super divine talent awakening stone to awaken your talent."
Alan felt puzzled. 'Are you kidding me? A super divine talent awakening stone?' He had never even heard of it, and now he had to find one.
"Sea God, do you know about the super divine talent awakening stone?" Alan asked, hoping the Sea God had some answers.
The Sea God replied, "Super divine talent awakening stone? That's not something from the Vast Continent; it's from the Divine Realm."
"Divine Realm?" This was another term Alan had never heard of before. His ten years in his previous life appeared to have been in vain. ''What place is that?''
"It's where deities go. Deities would find it very slow to increase their power on the Vast Continent, so they naturally need to go to a higher-level place."
Alan understood. According to the Sea God, to continue awakening his super divine talent, he needed to go to the Divine Realm. "Can only deities go to the Divine Realm?" Alan asked.
"Yes, previously demigods and false gods could go to the Divine Realm, but now they can't. Maybe it will be restored in the future."
Alan smiled wryly; it seemed he wouldn't be able to awaken his talent for a long time. But with his current three talents, he was already very strong.
Returning to the central square of the Hall of Glory, Alan called Leif over, "Leif, is there any place in the Hall of Glory suitable for building structures?"
Leif was taken aback. "Is this structure important?"
"Yeah, it is."
"Well, it's best to be near the mountain gate." Leif grinned. "There are plenty of spots; it depends on where you want to build it."
He led Alan to an open space near the front mountain gate. "Hall Master, how about here?"
"Not bad." Alan nodded with a smile, then took out the Temple of the Undead he had treasured for a long time.
