Chapter 299 The Battle Ends
As Alan's undead army grew, the numbers from the Four Great Powers—Three Saints Society, Cult of the Divine Sheep, Sunset Peak, and Golden Gate—started to thin out.
Still, some managed to slip away in the end, but it didn't really matter.
Alan had one mission: not a single member of the Three Saints Society was getting out alive. And with the Hand of Malevolence assassins backing him up, none of them did.
Then, the server-wide announcements started blasting.
Every boss-level NPC Alan took down triggered one, and he wasn't trying to hide it—why bother?
People from other sanctuaries could easily put two and two together.
The fight was going down on Dragon Capital's East Main Street, and it was anything but low-key. Even if they didn't figure it out right away, a quick look around would point straight to him.
"Server-wide announcement: Big congrats to player Ice King for taking down a boss-level NPC. This is a special shoutout—keep grinding, everyone!"
Players were floored by the server-wide announcements.
Chat exploded instantly.
"Wait, those guys Ice King took down—aren't they from Sunset Peak?"
"Bro, I'm dead. I just joined Sunset Peak yesterday, thinking this powerhouse with nine job changes would carry me. Now look at this mess!"
The discussions were not only among players.
Among the NPCs, there was also a flood of discussions.
Sunset Peak, one of the four major sects in the Mountain and Sea Empire, looked like it was on the verge of being wiped out by Alan.
Palace of Infinity.
In the main hall.
Nikolai's eyes were deep as he looked in the direction of the Hall of Glory. "Ice King… fascinating. A player pulling off something like this at this stage? Unthinkable."
Below him, a robed elder bowed respectfully. "Nikolai, I've got even juicier news."
Nikolai raised an eyebrow. "Go on. What is it?"
"Word from the Mountain and Sea Empire—Ice King's the new master of the Hall of Glory."
"What?!" Nikolai's eyes widened. "Ice King? An adventurer? Has the old master of the Hall of Glory lost his mind? Handing the reins to an adventurer?"
"Maybe he isn't crazy—maybe he just sees something in Ice King," the elder in white said, dead serious. "And did you hear that server-wide announcement? Ice King's first move as master was taking down Sunset Peak. And he pulled it off."
"Father, maybe we should rethink our ties with the Hall of Glory," a woman in cultivator robes stepped forward.
If Alan were here, he'd know her in a heartbeat.
It was Eulalia.
Nikolai nodded. "I was about to call for you. Ice King helped you set up the Oceanus Kingdom—how much do you really know about him?"
"Self-serving, but with his own code. Insanely powerful, yet stays cool-headed. Sharp, top-tier skills, doesn't let a slight slide. Someone you want on your side, not against you."
Nikolai raised an eyebrow. "You've always been hard to impress. Yet that's what you say about him?"
Eulalia sighed. "He helped me build the Oceanus Kingdom, then went on to conquer the Chaos Territory and brought the Mountain and Sea Empire back to life. Father, what level do you think he's at now?"
Nikolai shook his head. "I heard he pushed Cassius to level 500 in no time. He's gotta be at least level 1000, maybe even 2000."
"Level 1000? 2000?" Eulalia gave him a strange look. "What if I told you, Father, he's only level fifty?"
"That's impossible." Nikolai shot back without a second thought. "He's got god-tier talent, but even that can't stack up to this. These players have only been in Ragnarok for two months. Two years wouldn't be enough to pull off what he's done. And did you hear those server-wide announcements? Who's he taking out now? Six-jobbers, seven-jobbers, eight-jobbers—even Sunset Peak's leader with nine job changes got wrecked."
Eulalia gave him a wry smile. "I know it sounds crazy, but it's the truth."
Nikolai stared at Eulalia for a moment, then finally nodded heavily. "If that's the case, it seems I really need to visit the Hall of Glory myself."
Divine Peak Summit!
Lachlan cracked a grin. "Looks like you picked the right guy, old man. In no time flat, he's not only taken down a god but also handled Sunset Peak and the Three Saints Society."
Icefire Los Island!
Ayla and Crimson Blossom Demigod listened to the server-wide announcements.
They locked eyes, both wearing the same WTF look.
"What the hell just happened? How did Sunset Peak and the Three Saints Society get wiped out so fast?" Ayla clenched her teeth.
They'd poured serious effort into planting the Three Saints Society and turning Sunset Peak to their side.
They figured with the Mountain and Sea Empire's revival, both groups would stir up some serious chaos.
But how long has it been?
They didn't even get a chance to make a move before it was game over.
"Looks like we've gotta rethink our game plan with this Ice King. He's sharper and tougher than we figured," Crimson Blossom Demigod said, dead serious. "Once the Retreats of the Western Extreme Temple wrap up, we need to hash it out with her."
Ayla nodded, pausing before saying, "Get ready for the Holy Land Newcomer Genius Tournament in six weeks. The Hall of Glory's already got the upper hand. We can't let them scoop up more resources—not a single bit. For now, we've gotta slow them down. By playing Ragnarok's rules and leveling up, we'll eventually shut them down."
Mountain and Sea Empire, East Main Street.
The battle had ended.
Thanks to Alan's focus, not a single soul from the Three Saints Society or Sunset Peak made it out alive.
A few from the Cult of the Divine Sheep and Golden Gate slipped away, but Alan wasn't sweating it.
He'd already added Silver-Eyed Nicholas to the Soul Gathering List—tracking down the Cult of the Divine Sheep wouldn't be a problem.
Plus, he had his reasons for letting them go.
For instance, sending Silver-Eyed Nicholas back to stir up trouble in other sanctuaries' territories.
If other sanctuaries could plant the Three Saints Society, why couldn't he plant the Cult of the Divine Sheep in return?
