Chapter 281: Decapitation Plan!
"Before I got here, I thought I'd have to do a lot of convincing, but you're way more open-minded than I expected." Octavius, a bit surprised, poured Alan a cup of coffee and added, "The country's gearing up for this disaster. We've got some some powerful players, but none of them are on your level."
Alan took a moment to ponder. "Octavius, are you trying to recruit me?"
"Initially, that was indeed my plan, but I realize someone like you wouldn't want to be tied down."
Octavius smiled warmly and said, "So, here's the deal—let's make this a long-term partnership. If you've got any gear you're not using or any tricks up your sleeve, we'd love to hear about it. And if you need something, we've got the manpower to track it down. Sure, we might not have anyone on your level, but we've got numbers."
Alan was genuinely taken aback. He had assumed Octavius came to see him personally just to recruit him.
At this juncture, Octavius took out two pre-quest scrolls of the Blessing of the Gods and placed them in front of Alan.
"I know you're after these, Ice King. Consider them a gesture of our good faith."
Pre-quest scrolls of the Blessing of the Gods!
These items were incredibly rare and their worth was immeasurable.
Alan had used Blessing of the Gods to obtain artifacts like the Code of Life and Death, Demise Roulette, Royal Portal, and more.
As for ordinary skills, frankly speaking, Alan wasn't too interested. Most skills had cooldowns and consumed mana.
Alan preferred shooting a few more arrows instead, which usually did far more damage.
"You've shown genuine sincerity," Alan said. "Let's add each other as friends. I'll give you something. By the way, are you the lord of a territory?"
"No, why?"
"Then it won't work; your backpack can't hold it. I'll give it to Blade Warrior instead."
Octavius was somewhat taken aback. He had no idea what Alan planned to give that wouldn't fit in his backpack.
"But even so, let's add each other as friends. It'll make it easier to stay in touch."
"Sure," Octavius nodded.
Alan added Octavius to his contacts. His username was straightforward: just "Octavius."
After adding him, Alan transferred 300,000 pieces of equipment to Blade Warrior—mostly loot from the Chaos Territory he didn't need, so he passed it all on.
As for skill books, Alan withheld them. The sea beast skill books weren't particularly useful to most players since their primary battlegrounds were not in the ocean.
"What'd you give him?" Octavius asked Alan directly, bypassing Blade Warrior.
"300,000 pieces of black iron grade and above equipment."
Even Octavius, who usually kept his cool, was momentarily blown away by the insane size of the gift.
In truth, even if Alan had brought out 300,000 pieces of equipment, it wouldn't have been too surprising.
But when Alan said they were 300,000 pieces of black iron grade and above, it was astonishing.
For most players, scoring even one or two pieces of black iron gear was a lucky break, but Alan? He'd just dropped a mountain of it.
Significantly, they were all black iron grade and above, which certainly included numerous bronze grade and even some silver grade equipment.
"Thanks. If you need anything, Ice King, just make a list," Octavius offered.
"Super god-level talent awakening stones, equipment evolution scrolls, talent evolution flowers, and clues to the land of divine seals," Alan replied, listing the items he needed most.
At the top of his list was the super god-level talent awakening stone, crucial for his personal enhancement.
Although the Sea God had claimed there were no such stones on the Vast Continent, Alan believed nothing was ever absolute.
In a land with millions of people, someone might have the fortune to stumble upon such a rare item.
Moreover, clues to the land of divine seals were equally crucial.
There were only two gods on the Soul Gathering List, which was far from sufficient.
Alan had already planned to track down Silver-Eyed Nicholas once he wrapped up his current business.
Nicholas, a deity from Cthulhu mythos known for his spatial prowess, reportedly possessed enough power to rival the God of the Undead.
"By the way, Ice King, are you aware of the Cox Group's bounty on you?" Octavius inquired.
Alan nodded, "I am."
"Ernest has already taken care of them," Octavius remarked.
It didn't shock Alan; it was evident that Ernest had deeper motives.
After all, Ernest had previously offended him, but Alan hadn't paid much mind to it.
However, the authorities had personally sent Ernest to the Cox Group, making their intentions clear.
"Thanks. The Cox Group was a ticking time bomb; it's good they were dealt with," Octavius remarked with a warm smile.
"But the Cox Group had Aetheria backing them. I've heard that he's coming for you—teamed up with eight other nations to launch a decapitation plan. Ice King, I know you're a beast, but it's smart to stay sharp. And if you want, crash at the Heavenly Book Pavilion. As long as I'm around, you're good."
Alan was genuinely taken aback.
Octavius valued him more than he had anticipated.
It just showed that Octavius had some serious foresight and a big-picture mindset.
"I'll think about it," Alan said. Staying in a rented place definitely had its downsides.
Even if not for the Cox Group's bounty, accidents could always happen, though the likelihood was slim.
From his past experiences, Alan had witnessed far too much treachery. While he trusted Octavius, this trust did not extend to every high-ranking official within the Jinse Empire.
Given that reality and the game had not yet merged, his physical strength remained unaugmented, necessitating caution.
"Well, this has been a productive conversation. I look forward to more collaborations in the future. I'll have my team keep an eye on what you've mentioned."
Octavius stood up, gave Alan a friendly smile, and then logged off.
No surprise there. Octavius reserved this private room. He could log off here, handle some online stuff—super convenient.
Alan took Octavius's words to heart.
The decapitation plan.
In his former life, it had been executed six months after the game's inception.
But now, with the game running for only two months, it was already in motion.
The reason was not difficult to discern.
Aetheria and several other nations didn't want to wait any longer.
Alan's growth rate was simply too alarming.
"A decapitation plan, huh? Last time, I was powerless. This time, I'll make them understand the terror of absolute dominance!"
A steely glint flashed in Alan's eyes. He then took out the Code of Life and Death and added another name from the Nightfall Union.
