Chapter 282 Chatterbox Little Sword!

Alan had made a vow to Lysander: he'd wipe out the Nightfall Union—ten times over.

Even though it wasn't an official mission, Alan wasn't the type to break a promise.

Once he'd finished adding the name, he cracked his knuckles and got to work, studying the two pre-mission scrolls of the Gods' Blessing Octavius had handed him.

"The ancient nation of the Jinse Empire, known as the Mountain and Sea Empire, has revived. The conflicts between nations have resumed, and as a person of the Jinse Empire, you must not disgrace its reputation."

"Mission requirement: Within one month, rank in the top ten on the comprehensive combat power leaderboard and the arena leaderboard. The time limit starts from the day the leaderboards are announced, regardless of whether you accept the mission or not."

"Mission penalty: Unknown."

"Mission reward: Gods' Blessing +1, Master-level Talent Awakening Stone +1."

The combat power leaderboard isn't something you grind for—it's Ragnarok's way of ranking players based on their level, skills, gear, past wins, and overall combat chops. Even if someone's not at the max level, making it onto that leaderboard means they're a force to be reckoned with.

The arena leaderboard? Think of it like ranked play in old-school MMOs. Jump into the arena, and you'll get matched with random opponents. Climb higher, and the fights get tougher. Every month, the top 10,000 players score rewards, with the best loot going to the top dogs.

It's not just solo battles, either. Team matches are a thing, and ranking high there can net you some serious prizes.

Plus, there are quarterly and annual tournaments where the winners walk away with even bigger rewards.

At first, the arena leaderboard was just a way to keep players hooked.

But then, some hotshot from the Ironpeak Principality started trash-talking, beat a Jinse Empire player in the arena, and even recorded the whole thing to rub it in.

That's when things got heated.

Jinse Empire players weren't having it, and the two sides started going at each other nonstop.

But how could a tiny nation like Ironpeak stand a chance against the Jinse Empire?

They couldn't hold their own, so they called in their allies, and that's when Aetheria stepped up.

Other nations jumped in, too, and the arena became the go-to spot for national rivalries.

In this life, Alan only shifted the gaming path for a lot of players in the Jinse Empire region—players in other areas probably stayed on their usual grind.

After all, in the second job change zone, there's no real way to team up or trade favors, so the chance of setting off a butterfly effect for players in other regions is pretty slim.

This pre-mission scroll for the Gods' Blessing was basically a freebie for Alan.

The tasks were a total breeze.

The arena and combat power leaderboards went live three months after the game launched in the past, so there's still about a month to go—no need to sweat it yet.

Alan picked up the second pre-mission scroll for the Gods' Blessing.

"Although the ancient nation of the Jinse Empire has revived, spies from other nations are still present, especially those from the former Oceanus Kingdom and Netherland, who seem to be plotting something."

"Mission requirement: Destroy the plots of these spies from Oceanus Kingdom and Netherland. If they capture any town in the Mountain and Sea Empire, the mission will fail."

"Mission penalty: None."

"Mission reward: Gods' Blessing, Mountain and Sea Empire Junior Official Title."

Alan frowned slightly.

Hard mission?

Not really.

Even the defense forces of some backwater town in the Mountain and Sea Empire could probably outmatch a Central City from the old Oceanus Kingdom.

But since this mission is tied to a pre-mission scroll for the Gods' Blessing, it's clear that Oceanus Kingdom and Netherland still pack a punch.

Take Oceanus Kingdom's old Magic Lair, for example. They had a chief and a second-in-command, but the one always in the spotlight was the third leader. The other two never showed their faces.

And here's the kicker—the third leader came from the Palace of Infinity, either for training or because Magic Lair had some serious secrets of its own.

The point was, the chief and second leader might be on a whole other level.

As for the Netherland, Alan didn't have much intel.

Back in the day, it was a second job change zone—solid, but nothing crazy.

After leaving the Spring Breeze Teahouse, Alan got a notification.

It was from a friend he'd added earlier—Little Sword.

She was a female swordsman with god-level talent, small but quick, and a beast in combat. Though, the word was, she used to suck at it.

It took grinding through the game and surviving the apocalypse for her skills to level up.

"Ice King, is it really you? I can't believe a legend like you would add me as a friend."

"Honestly, I checked about ten times when I saw your friend request. Even slapped myself twice to make sure I wasn't tripping."

"Enough." Alan cut her off as he saw Little Sword's typing bubble in the chat.

But her message had already popped up.

"You're my idol, seriously. Taking down a city with just a bow? That's next-level legendary."

"Alright, I'll shut up. Your turn."

Alan rubbed his forehead.

As expected.

Rumors might not always be true, but they often have some basis.

This Little Sword is indeed a chatterbox.

"I've established a territory. Do you want to join?" Alan asked.

Little Sword was floored, spamming a string of mind-blown emojis. "Wait, me? You sure about that?"

Alan shot back, "Honestly, I got this random scouting perk from a mission. Turns out, you're a freak of nature—one in a million. Wanna join my crew?"

Little Sword went full fanboy:

"Yes, yes, YES. A thousand times yes."

"Ice King, I knew I was built differently. My time has come."

"I'll carve through every villain with my sword and take on the gods solo. Just watch."

Alan rolled his eyes. "Alright, hotshot. Be at the Hall of Glory tomorrow. Don't be late."

"Okay, can I come over now? I'm so excited I might not be able to sleep tonight. It's almost dark, and it's not suitable for fighting at night."

Alan rubbed his forehead and looked up at the sky.

Sure enough.

It was getting dark.

When the Mountain and Sea Empire first revived, it maintained the previous rule of no night.

But now, two weeks later, the rules seemed to have fully integrated with the Vast Continent, and the night was quietly falling.

Just as Alan looked at the sky, Little Sword sent over a dozen more messages.

"Please? Ice King, you're the best."

"I really won't be able to sleep. Let me report tonight, and I'll give you the rare materials I collected."

"They're really very rare materials."

Alan took a deep breath and silently replied, "Okay, I'll wait for you at the Hall of Glory."

Then Little Sword sent a barrage of messages expressing her extreme joy and gratitude to Alan.
