Chapter 237 The Psychological Game with SnowflakeChaser!
Previously, to eliminate Orlando, Alan inscribed Orlando's name in the Code of Life and Death.
Now that Orlando was out of the picture, it was time to switch back.
Deep in the mountain forest of Chaos Territory, Oberon had just drained the blood of a Red-Haired Pig King when he noticed his old wound bleeding again.
"This is ridiculous! Find Ice King for me. I want to rip him apart."
He had come looking for trouble with Alan, but he hadn't even caught a glimpse of him.
Instead, Alan had nearly driven him to death's door.
"Mr. Thorne, Ice King's movements are unpredictable. We don't have any pull in Chaos Territory, so tracking him down is tough," Andrew said, frowning.
Oberon said, "Then make some."
Matthew shook his head. "That's too slow. Better to back an existing power. Mr. Thorne, you could turn the leaders of some major factions into vampires and have them follow your orders."
A day later, outside the ancient city of Blood Crow, Alan rode the Blazing Turkey King while perusing the True Essence of the Sea Manual. As he reached the city gates, he put the manual away.
"Finally here."
Alan let out a breath and urged the Blazing Turkey King into Blood Crow Ancient City.
In Chaos Territory, even without a platinum-level expert with four job changes, the Blood Crow Tower was more powerful than the Sinclair and Ashford Families.
On the walls of Blood Crow Ancient City, a man in a black robe, like Alan, calmly watched Alan riding the Blazing Turkey King. Beside him stood a woman with a nasty scar on her face, also watching Alan.
"Sir, just as you predicted, he's here."
The black-robed man chuckled. "He couldn't find everything in Stellaria, so he's come to our Chaos Territory to try his luck."
"What is he looking for?" the scarred woman asked curiously.
The black-robed man didn't answer but instead said, "Spread the word that I'm going into seclusion and will see no one. Besides, no one from Blood Crow Tower is allowed to mess with Ice King under any circumstances."
"Understood." The scarred woman nodded.
After Alan entered Blood Crow Ancient City, he headed straight for Blood Crow Tower.
Blood Crow Tower was the city lord's mansion of Blood Crow Ancient City, very easy to spot.
Alan swaggered up to the entrance of Blood Crow Tower on his Blazing Turkey King.
A guard respectfully ran up. "May I ask what business you have?"
"I want to see your tower master."
The guard seemed to know Alan's intention already and shook his head, saying, "I'm really sorry, but he's in seclusion and isn't seeing any visitors."
Alan frowned. "Do you know when he'll be out?"
The guard shook his head. "I don't know. It could be three years, or it could be five years."
Alan looked up at Blood Crow Tower. It seemed the tower master was deliberately avoiding him.
But it didn't matter. Sometimes, it wasn't up to them whether they could avoid him or not.
With so many people in Chaos Territory trying to stir up trouble, it was almost impossible for a power like Blood Crow Tower to stay out of it.
Alan found an inn near the city lord's mansion in Blood Crow Ancient City and settled down.
A modest expenditure of gold coins was of no consequence to him.
In his room, he could use the Royal Portal to teleport wherever he needed to go.
After setting everything up, Alan got back to studying the Essence of the Sea.
His current method of stacking health points was too slow; the most efficient way was through the Code of Life and Death.
So, he spent some time diving into the true essence, letting other matters wait.
Chaos Territory was already a mess, and his presence would only stir things up more.
After two days in Blood Crow Ancient City studying the True Essence of the Sea Manual, he logged off to get some nutrient solution and check on his sister Mary.
Mary was doing fine, and the external equipment showed she was still in the game.
Back in the game, Alan received a message from SnowflakeChaser: [Ice King, I got what you wanted.]
SnowflakeChaser sent a photo of the pre-quest scroll for the Blessing of the Gods.
Alan texted back: [A photo isn't enough to show sincerity.]
SnowflakeChaser liked to play games.
Most people might fall for it, but Alan had seen too much in his previous life to be fooled by a single photo.
SnowflakeChaser replied: [I really did get it. If you're interested, we can talk.]
She was sure the pre-quest scroll for the Blessing of the Gods was crucial to Alan, which made her confident.
But Alan's silence made her second-guess herself.
Alan needed the scroll, but so did she.
The pre-quest scroll was valuable to any player. If SnowflakeChaser wanted to trade it, she had bigger plans.
Like Cassius and Dashiell, using the scroll meant facing a tough task. The Blessing of the Gods wouldn't offer them many benefits, and they couldn't use it themselves.
In Ragnarok, many items held by NPCs were meant as rewards, not for personal use.
Even NPCs had to strengthen themselves within the game's rules, so players were even less likely to make easy trades.
Another day passed in Siren City, and SnowflakeChaser grew anxious. Time was precious, and she didn't want to waste it.
Some players had already surpassed level eighty. Delaying any longer would widen the gap between her and the top players.
Unlike Alan, who could stack health points infinitely, most players needed to level up to get stronger.
Those five free attribute points weren’t enough to make a significant difference, but higher levels allowed for better gear, more quests, and more powerful skills.
Watching other players on the leaderboard level up was more painful for SnowflakeChaser than losing levels herself.
She texted: [Ice King, this time I'm coming with sincerity.]
SnowflakeChaser contacted Alan again. She knew doing so would make her lose the upper hand, but she couldn't afford to wait any longer.
Alan opened the chat window and saw that SnowflakeChaser had sent over the contents of the pre-quest scroll for the Blessing of the Gods.
