Chapter 155 A Million Troops Besiege the City!
They all praised, "Long live the King!"
The ministers showered him with praise.
Zachary and Lorenr exchanged sly smiles. Their plan had worked.
Now, it was up to the Ice King to see if he could take down King Rex.
If the Ice King could kill King Rex, everything would be settled.
Just then, a server-wide announcement blared out.
[Server-wide announcement: Congrats to the Dark Robe Leader of the Demon Lair for establishing the Demon Lair regime. Players can now enter Demon Lair Central City. Unlock new features!]
[Server-wide announcement: Congrats to the Dark Robe Leader of the Demon Lair for establishing the Demon Lair regime. Players can now enter Demon Lair Central City. Unlock new features!]
The announcement echoed, startling many players.
King Rex's face darkened in anger. Someone had set up another regime in his kingdom.
This was a total insult!
King Rex barked, "Zachary, gather the army. We move out now."
Zachary replied, "Yes, Your Majesty."
Stellaria began to assemble its forces. When Alan heard the announcement, he knew the real national war was about to begin.
The previous skirmish defending Lindataria was just a taste.
Alan messaged Robert: [Robert, get ready. The real national war is about to start.]
Robert: [Another national war? Awesome. One of these can really boost my stats.]
Alan didn't mind, but Robert kept messaging.
Robert: [Alan, Michael's back. He switched to a secondary profession, Tomb Explorer. It's even stronger than his main one. He has curse skills, invincibility, and spatial distortion. Super powerful.]
Alan was shocked: [So that guy is Michael.]
Robert was surprised: [You ran into Michael?]
Alan: [Yeah, he used his curse skills and spatial distortion on me.]
Robert: [Seriously?]
Alan: [Tell him I'm the Dark Robe Archer. He'll get it.]
Robert: [You're the Dark Robe Archer? Michael was just saying you were dishonorable, targeting him for kills.]
Alan: [Be careful not to hit me by mistake.]
After a brief chat, Alan focused on the Dark Robe Leader in front of him.
Alan mentioned, "King Rex must've heard your regime's announcement. He'll probably lead a personal expedition next."
The Dark Robe Leader stood up, looking serious. He replied, "If he does, that's trouble."
"How much do you know about King Rex?" Alan asked.
He knew of King Rex but had never seen him in action, so he knew little about his strength.
King Rex replied, "Triple job change at the limit, level 200 platinum."
"And his profession?" Alan probed as he needed to know King Rex's skills.
"Profession: Summoner," King Rex replied.
Alan was stunned. He remarked, "A Summoner!"
"That's why it's a headache. A level 200 platinum Summoner can summon ten level 200 gold battle beasts at once without any problem," King Rex replied.
"Yeah, that's a real problem," Alan said, his face serious.
Summoners might be fragile, but their summoned beasts were no joke, especially with King Rex being a level 200 platinum Summoner.
"Let's just roll with it and see what happens," Alan suggested.
Just then, another server-wide announcement blared out.
[Server-wide announcement: Due to the large-scale invasion of the Demon Lair, the Stellaria national war has begun. Adventurers who kill Night Stalkers will receive high rewards. This is a special announcement encouraging all adventurers to defend the kingdom!]
The new national war announcement got many players excited.
Losing levels could be fixed, but free attribute points were hard to come by.
Killing Night Stalkers for rewards was a no-brainer.
Someone reported, "Leader, bad news. King Rex of Stellaria is leading a million-strong army to the outskirts of Lindataria."
Alan glanced at the Dark Robe Leader. He asked, "Got any quests that boost luck attributes?"
The Dark Robe Leader looked surprised. He responded, "No. Why do you ask?"
"I want to increase my luck attribute," Alan replied.
The Dark Robe Leader shrugged. He revealed, "I don't have any, but my big brother does."
"By the way, why haven't your big brother and second brother shown up yet?" Alan asked.
The Dark Robe Leader gave a wry smile. He said, "They've got more important things to handle."
Alan squinted, thinking, 'Isn't establishing a regime in the Demon Lair important enough? Isn't the national war important enough? Then what is?'
"What are they doing? Need any help?" Alan asked.
The Dark Robe Leader shook his head. He answered, "I don't know."
Alan didn't push further. He didn't believe the Dark Robe Leader really didn't know.
Since the Dark Robe Leader wasn't saying anything, it meant he didn't want Alan to know.
Alan said, "Let's go. The national war has started. This battle's gonna be tough. I won't make a move for now."
The Dark Robe Leader frowned. He questioned, "You won't make a move?"
"Yeah," Alan nodded in confirmation. He explained, "My goal is to kill King Rex, so I can't be out in the open."
"Are you seriously planning to kill King Rex?" The Dark Robe Leader found it hard to believe. The idea was just too crazy.
"I've taken all your quests. Do you think I'm joking?" Alan shot back.
Outside Lindataria.
A million-strong army surrounded the city, arrows flying like rain.
Alan raised an eyebrow. He stayed hidden but scanned the army.
Sure enough, with the Eye of Purity, he spotted King Rex.
Beside King Rex were Lorenr, Zachary, Andrew, and a little boy.
Alan was surprised. He had never seen the boy before and had no clue who he was.
From this distance, he couldn't see the boy's attributes either.
But Alan's gut told him this boy was trouble.
Shaking off the thought, Alan focused on King Rex.
At this distance, attacking King Rex was nearly impossible.
Alan analyzed, 'Should I fly over with the Wings of Frost? No way. With Andrew and the others by King Rex's side, my arrows won't hit him.'
After some thought, Alan quietly left Lindataria, planning to find another angle for an opportunity.
