Chapter 240 Hiding? Then Let's Have Some Fun!
"You got the skill book 'Devouring the Sea to Rejuvenate.'"
"You got the 'Double-Headed Crocodile Necklace.'"
"You got 100 free attribute points."
"You got 20,000 gold coins."
"You got a tentacle fragment of 'Silver-Eyed Nicholas.'"
"You got..."
What a haul! Since Alan took down the Two-Headed Bloodscale Crocodile, he finished Ambrose's task and could snag another equipment evolution scroll.
In no time, Alan had three out of the five tentacle fragments. He was on a roll. At this rate, he might wrap it up today.
Cassius asked, "Mr. Ice, should I have someone roast this crocodile?"
Alan waved him off. "Nah, it's the Sinclair Family's guardian beast. Let's skip it."
"Good point. I'll get some drinks ready."
Alan knew what Cassius was hinting at; he hadn't paid up yet. With a flick of his wrist, gold coins clinked and piled up into a small mountain.
"Here's the gold I promised. Wanna count it, Cassius?" Alan asked.
Cassius shook his head and scooped up the gold. "I trust you."
"Alright then, I'm out. I'll drop by the Sinclair Family again when I get a chance." Alan pulled out the Royal Portal and vanished.
Cassius was stunned. "Spatial teleportation gear, and it's reusable?"
He had some teleportation items, but they were single-use. He could tell Alan's Royal Portal was top-notch, but he wasn't sure how rare it was.
Before Alan even got to Siren City castle, he spotted Dorian, the godson of the owner of Siren's Slumber Isle.
When Dorian saw Alan, he couldn't help but shiver.
Last time, Ambrose took Alan and the crew to hunt the Two-Headed Bloodscale Crocodile. When they got back, Ambrose chewed out Dorian and warned him not to disrespect Alan again, or he'd be kicked out of the family.
Seeing Alan now, Dorian forced a nervous smile. "Mr. Ice, I'm really sorry about last time. If you need anything, just say the word."
Alan patted Dorian's shoulder. "Actually, I still prefer your previous defiant attitude."
Dorian shook his head quickly. "I wouldn't dare."
Seeing Dorian so scared, Alan didn't want to waste time. "Where's Ambrose?"
"Looking for Ambrose? I'll get him right away."
Dorian rushed back to the fortress and soon brought Ambrose out. Ambrose said, "Mr. Ice, you needed me?"
Alan tossed him a piece of crocodile skin. "I killed the Two-Headed Bloodscale Crocodile. I'm here for my reward."
Ambrose frowned a bit. "Mr. Ice, the task had a three-day limit, and..."
Clearly, Ambrose was about to say the time limit was up.
Alan cut him off. "Ambrose, I know why you really wanted that croc dead. You decide on the reward. If you don't want to give it, fine. I did go over the time limit."
Hearing this, Ambrose clenched his fist. He wanted to save some rewards, but Alan's words made it clear. If he played hardball over an equipment evolution scroll, it could backfire. If Alan held onto that tentacle fragment, it would mess up their whole plan.
"Mr. Ice, you're kidding, right? Exceeding the time limit is no big deal. Here's your reward." Ambrose handed over an equipment evolution scroll to Alan.
"Thanks." Alan took the scroll and used it right away.
"You used the equipment evolution scroll. Your Purification Jade Pendant is evolving."
"Sorry, your Purification Jade Pendant evolution failed."
Alan rubbed his forehead. He had a feeling this might happen, but it still stung a bit.
Ambrose asked, "Mr. Ice, did you get the items from the Two-Headed Bloodscale Crocodile?"
"Got it." Alan knew exactly what Ambrose meant.
Ambrose said, "Would you be willing to trade them to me? Name your price."
Alan shook his head and pulled out the pre-quest scroll of the gods' blessings given by SnowflakeChaser. "I took this quest. If I'm right, this scroll belongs to your island owner."
Ambrose looked surprised. "SnowflakeChaser gave you that? You two must be pretty tight."
Alan just smiled and said, "Let's leave it at that. I've got other stuff to do, so I'm out."
He took out the Royal Portal and teleported away.
Alan popped back into Blood Crow Ancient City. The key to cracking this situation was here. Kenneth might be the real boss of Blood Crow Tower, and the fourth tentacle fragment was also in Blood Crow Tower.
Plus, with the pre-quest scroll of the gods' blessings from Blood Crow Tower, Alan had to handle it this time.
Arriving at Blood Crow Tower, he got the same cold shoulder as before.
They were polite, but they wouldn't see him, not even giving him a chance to talk.
"Playing hard to get, huh? Let's see how long you can keep this up." A mischievous glint flashed in Alan's eyes.
Stellaria was in ruins. If Kenneth wanted to rebuild, he'd need high-end power and an army.
And for an army, they would need a ton of gold coins. That meant they had to find ways to get gold and war supplies.
Alan scoped out Blood Crow Ancient City and saw he was right. The entertainment scene was booming, especially the brothels—there were over a hundred of them.
With so many brothels, it was clear Blood Crow Tower was raking in cash. But after stacking up funds, they needed gear and the raw materials to make it.
Thinking this through, Alan unfolded the map of Chaos Territory, which showed where all the ores were and who mined them.
Since Blood Crow Tower wouldn't come out, he'd take over the iron and copper mines needed for making gear and see how they'd react. Grabbing resources was a way to play the game.
Alan had no qualms about it. "First stop, Cape Iron Mine!"
A grin spread across Alan's face as he rode the Blazing Turkey King towards Cape Iron Mine.
