Chapter 238 Blood Buddha!
[The great Silver-Eyed Nicholas is about to wake up. One of its tentacles got ripped apart and scattered all over the Chaos Territory. Can you help gather the pieces?]
[Mission Requirement: Collect the fragments of the Silver-Eyed God's tentacle within three months (0/5).]
[Mission Penalty: Unknown.]
[Mission Reward: Blessing of the Gods.]
With just this one reward, the mission didn't seem too tough, but who really knew?
She messaged: [I'll give you this scroll, and you owe me three favors. Deal?]
Alan replied: [One favor, and tell me what it is now. I need to think about it.]
SnowflakeChaser sighed.
She knew she was in a tough spot, but she didn't think it would be this bad.
Alan wasn't a fan of SnowflakeChaser.
She was different from Ernest, who had ticked Alan off back in the newbie village. That was just a fight over a boss, a matter of interest.
His dislike for SnowflakeChaser was more about her personality.
If it weren't for the Blessing of the Gods pre-quest scroll, he wouldn't even bother with her.
So, one favor was his limit.
Plus, he needed to know the details of this favor. Otherwise, he'd rather ditch the Blessing of the Gods pre-quest scroll than help her.
SnowflakeChaser: [Help me find Kenneth, the brother of King Rex of Stellaria. I tracked him to the Chaos Territory.]
Alan was a bit taken aback.
Kenneth was King Rex's brother. Alan had heard of this prince, but not much.
He needed to figure out why SnowflakeChaser wanted Kenneth. But if it was just finding someone, it wasn't a deal-breaker.
Alan replied: [I can agree, but you have to give me the Blessing of the Gods pre-quest scroll first.]
SnowflakeChaser: [No way.]
She shot back without hesitation.
What if she gave the scroll to Alan, and he bailed?
Alan texted: [If that's the case, then I can't help.]
Alan responded just as firmly, as if he didn't care about the Blessing of the Gods pre-quest scroll in her hand.
SnowflakeChaser: [No!]
She hesitated. She had already used the forces of Siren's Slumber Isle to search but came up empty.
She couldn't think of anyone else who could help her here.
Sea God Temple and Blood Crow Tower were powerful, but she couldn't get them to help her find someone.
She messaged: [I'll give it to you.]
"SnowflakeChaser has traded the Blessing of the Gods pre-quest scroll to you. Do you accept?"
"Accept."
Alan took the Blessing of the Gods pre-quest scroll: [Smart move.]
With that, Alan pulled out the Royal Portal and stepped through.
When he reappeared, he was already at the Sea God Temple headquarters.
The Sea God Temple was still under repair. After the last incident, many people there recognized Alan.
"Greetings, Son of the Sea."
Two warriors overseeing the repairs saw Alan and quickly ran over, bowing respectfully.
"I need to see your temple lord," Alan said calmly.
"We'll get the temple lord right away."
One of them quickly dashed into the Sea God Temple.
Before long, Lysander showed up in front of Alan.
"Subordinate Lysander greets the Son of the Sea. What can I do for you?"
Alan cut to the chase. "You've been talking about the followers of the evil god. Is the evil god you're referring to Silver-Eyed Nicholas?"
Lysander nodded without surprise. "Yes, it is."
"I heard one of its tentacles got torn apart and scattered across the Chaos Territory. Do you know where they are?"
Lysander hesitated for a moment but then said, "Our Sea God Temple has two segments; the Sinclair family has one; Blood Crow Tower has one. But I don't know where the last one is."
Alan's eyes lit up.
He was lucky to have found clues to four segments in one go.
Lysander said, "Here are the two segments from Sea God Temple. If you need them, take them."
Lysander took out two crimson tentacles with silver eyes on them, looking super creepy.
Alan took the two tentacles from Lysander. "Thanks."
"Don't mention it. It's an honor to serve you."
Just then, an interesting server-wide announcement caught Alan's attention.
"Server-wide announcement: Congratulations to player Ninja Blood Buddha for joining the White Rock Temple, becoming the first player to join a sanctuary. Keep up the good work, everyone."
Ninja Blood Buddha from the Ironpeak Principality was similar to the Mighty Ancients from the Jinse Empire, possessing killer combat skills.
Blood Buddha not only had strong combat skills but also a talent that could infinitely boost his attack power.
For every monster he killed that wasn't lower than his level, he could permanently increase his attack power by one point.
This talent was considered god-level, even if it was on the weaker side.
But a god-level talent was still a god-level talent, no matter how you sliced it.
If it were just that, Alan wouldn't have a deep impression of him, nor would he pay much attention.
During his time in the Chaos Territory, Alan noticed other players making significant progress, with frequent server-wide announcements for first dungeon clears and boss kills.
Alan's deep impression of Blood Buddha stemed from a historical event where nine countries, including the Ironpeak Principality and the Solstice Confederation, united to execute a massacre plan within Ragnarok against the elite warriors of the Jinse Empire. Their goal was to make Jinse Empire players lose levels and slow their progress.
Alan discovered after the cataclysm that these countries aimed to weaken the Jinse Empire's power.
Blood Buddha, with his high attack power, had assassinated many top Jinse players. If not for SteadyStrategist's ambushes, Blood Buddha wouldn't have stopped.
SteadyStrategist's high Physical Defense and reflect damage perfectly countered Blood Buddha, causing the latter to die from his own attacks.
"It seems I really need to find a god-level talent awakening stone for SteadyStrategist."
Alan himself still needed a god-level talent awakening stone, but being strong alone would make it too hard to turn the tide in the future.
It was best if everyone around him was strong too.
Returning to his thoughts, Alan looked at Lysander and asked, "Do you know where Kenneth is?"
