Chapter 196 Occupying the Top Ten Central City!

Alan tucked away the Guardian's Tower and eyed the Ice Goddess's left leg—something Leona had left behind. He tried to stash it in his inventory but no dice.

When Alan was amidst the footprints of the snow corpse, he attempted to retrieve the item, but unfortunately, he failed.

With no way to store the leg, Alan decided to move on and headed into Lindataria.

The black-robed leader spotted Alan and looked pretty grim. "Ice King, if you’d shown up any later, I’d be toast."

Alan shrugged. "I wasn't on purpose. As soon as I found out Leona had the Ice Goddess's left leg, I rushed over."

The leader waved it off. "Doesn't matter, thanks. Without you, I'd be done for."

He added, "Leona's too sneaky and cautious. Even as a fourth-time transfer Archmage, she still uses the Ice Goddess's power to keep us down."

Alan raised an eyebrow. "If she wasn't cautious, she wouldn't have waited until now to make a move."

Alan's eyes narrowed. "Next, let's hit back at Starcity and take Leona down."

The leader nodded. "Yeah, Leona's killed too many of our people in the Demon Lair. This time, she pays."

Suddenly, a server-wide announcement echoed across the Jinse Empire region.

[Server-wide announcement: Congrats to player Bloody Battle Bodhi for being the first to reach the Vast Continent. Reward: +200 free attribute points, +50,000 gold coins, +1 unlimited gold-level set, +3 class skill books. This is a special announcement to encourage all players to keep striving.]

Alan raised an eyebrow. This hadn't changed because of his appearance.

It was still Bloody Battle Bodhi who first reached the Vast Continent.

Of course, he was only the first in the Jinse Empire region.

When browsing the forums earlier, Alan had noticed that players from other servers had completed their second transfers and had likely also gone to the Vast Continent.

But this wasn't important to Alan. What he needed to do was to get as strong as possible to face the upcoming catastrophe.

Next, under Alan's leadership, the Demon Lair army moved with unstoppable force, capturing the ten Central Cities without breaking a sweat.

This feat shocked many players in the Jinse Empire region.

"Oh my god!"

"Should I be siding with the Demon Lair now? This is too crazy."

"That's nothing. I saw Ice King kill my transfer mentor with my own eyes."

"You clearly lack experience. I'm from Lindataria. My transfer mentor wasn't killed but ran away. However, the Night Walker mentor is much more approachable than the original one."

"Exactly, the task difficulty is lower, and the rewards are better. If your transfer mentor was killed, you should be happy."

With the ten Central Cities captured, only the royal city of Starcity in Stellaria was left.

Alan knew Leona hadn't stepped in because she wanted to make Starcity the final battlefield, gathering all her forces for one last stand.

The decisive moment was coming!

In the Royal Palace Hall of Starcity, Leona looked grim, and the hall was packed.

There were Matthew, Andrew, several unscathed lords of Central City, and a few other three-time job change elites.

These people were almost all of Stellaria's top fighters.

In the past, they were untouchable.

Players used to jump through hoops to get tasks from these top fighters, trying all sorts of ways to curry favor. Any small perk they handed out could keep players hyped for ages.

But today, they all looked pretty grim because Stellaria's survival was on the line.

"You all know how powerful Ice King is," Leona started. "He's immune to ice damage and can revive three seconds after being killed. Killing him is pointless."

Everyone else looked just as grim. They didn't want to admit it, but it was true.

"In this moment of national survival, Your Majesty, we must fight to the death," Andrew said seriously. He knew that if they lost this battle, Stellaria was done for.

Leona said, "Two things! First, stall Ice King. Don't try to damage him, just stall. Our goal is to kill the Demon Lair leader. Ice King is helping them because the black-robed leader promised him enough benefits. Upon the demise of the black-robed leader, the advantages accorded to the Ice King will vanish."

Andrew's eyes lit up. "Your Majesty is wise."

Leona raised her hand to cut him off. "Second, if there are casualties, Matthew, I'll need you to step up. Here, you have a respawn mechanism. You can come back after death."

Matthew nodded. "No problem."

Leona took a deep breath, her expression turning deadly serious. "Lastly, and most importantly, if Matthew dies, abandon Stellaria and retreat to the Blackwind Mountains, heading to the Land of Chaos."

"What?" Everyone was shocked.

"Your Majesty, Stellaria is our foundation..."

"Survival is the most important. I've fought Ice King. His power..."

Leona sighed and didn't continue.

Clearly, she didn't want to hurt the morale of the combat personnel.

Leona said, "I hope you all strictly follow the two points I've mentioned."

Andrew and the others nodded, though they felt pretty down about it.

But there was no other way. Ice King's power was beyond their control.

"I used to think these adventurers were just ants, easily dealt with," Andrew sighed. "But I never thought we'd be driven to the brink by an adventurer one day."

At the City Lord's Mansion of Lindataria, the black-robed leader was in high spirits, laughing heartily. "In less than a day, we've taken all the Central Cities. This is amazing. I've never fought such a satisfying battle."

Alan shook his head. "Don't get too happy yet. This is just the beginning. Starcity is the key."

The black-robed leader nodded. "Indeed, if I'm not mistaken, Leona plans to have the final showdown with us in Starcity."

Alan said, "Not with you, with me."

The black-robed leader was stunned. "Ice King, what do you mean by that?"

Alan replied, "I mean you're not going. Not only are you not going, but I'm also going to escort you back to the Demon Lair."

"Escort?" The black-robed leader was taken aback, then realized. "Ice King, do you mean they want to kill me?"

Alan asked, "Why should I help you?"

"Because of the two God Blessing pre-quest scrolls and the God-level hidden class transfer scroll," the black-robed leader instinctively replied.
