Chapter 157 Killing King Rex!
The golden shield cracked and then shattered.
King Rex frowned. With a wave of his hand, a hexagram appeared. In a flash of light, a monster covered in tumors materialized in the center.
Alan's arrows hit the tumor-covered monster but did no damage to it.
Absorbing all of Alan's arrows, the monster's body kept expanding.
"If you want to eat my arrows, I'll make you burst," Alan shouted, firing arrows like crazy.
The monster's body swelled until it couldn't hold on anymore. Its skin tightened, ready to explode.
With a loud bang, the monster exploded and died on the spot.
[You have completed the first kill of the Tumor Devourer. A server-wide announcement will be made. Do you want to hide your name?]
"Hide," Alan agreed.
[Server-wide announcement: Congratulations to the player who has hidden their name for completing the first kill of the Tumor Devourer. Keep up the good work, everyone.]
Alan didn't even think about picking up the loot. He only wanted to kill King Rex now.
But after the Tumor Devourer exploded, King Rex was nowhere to be seen.
Alan's eyes locked onto a large blue bird ahead. He felt a headache coming on because King Rex was on it.
[Blue-winged Bird King (Gold): ???]
[Health: ???]
[Attack: ???]
[Skills: ???]
All stats were question marks, probably another level 200.
This was bad. Even though his flying speed was fast, it wasn't enough to catch up to a level 200 bird.
He couldn't catch up.
"Alan, watch me," Michael said as he appeared and cast a curse on the Blue-winged Bird King.
As expected, the bird's speed dropped, and Alan chased after it, shooting arrows.
King Rex frowned in frustration. He slapped a rune, and his body was enveloped in golden light, blocking Alan's arrows.
"I want to see how many runes you have," Alan said.
Alan wasn't worried. King Rex's golden rune could only block his attacks for one second.
One rune per second. Alan wanted to see how long King Rex could last.
Ten, twenty, thirty.
King Rex's golden runes seemed endless.
'Alan mused, A king is indeed a king. His resources are truly abundant.'
Alan's expression grew serious because Andrew was about to kill the Tranquil Zen Master.
Robert and James were struggling against Matthew, especially Robert, whose health had dropped by two-thirds.
At this rate, if Robert fell, James wouldn't be able to hold Matthew down.
The situation was dire, and if it persisted, Alan's plan to assassinate King Rex would fail.
[Ice and Snow: Eternal Freeze!]
When Alan didn't know how to break the situation, a formation appeared above King Rex's head, and he was instantly frozen.
Alan exclaimed, "Lisa!"
Alan was surprised that Lisa would help him.
But he quickly understood.
Queen Susan had fallen because of King Rex's bounty. It made sense she'd go after him.
King Rex didn't expect Lisa's sudden attack and was instantly frozen, giving Alan an opening.
Alan's arrows poured out, quickly surrounding King Rex.
Damage numbers popped up one after another above King Rex's head.
Alan's attack speed was maxed out, and he aimed for critical hits with every arrow, trying to take King Rex down fast.
But Lisa's freeze didn't last even a second. In just a breath, King Rex was about to break free.
[Dark Ice: Sixfold Freeze!]
A woman in a black robe appeared, waving her staff and freezing King Rex again.
Alan raised an eyebrow, amused by how many people King Rex had pissed off.
Such a good opportunity couldn't be missed, and Alan kept attacking.
But then he heard a sound behind him.
A voice demanded, "Ice King, stop!"
The newcomer was Andrew!
Alan's eyes narrowed. Andrew had killed the Tranquil Zen Master, which was bad news.
"Why hasn't Death Cycle triggered yet?" Alan was getting anxious. If Death Cycle didn't trigger, even without Andrew's interference, King Rex could escape using a spatial teleportation rune once he broke free.
Missing this chance to kill King Rex would make it much harder later.
Blade Warrior said, "Help."
Below, Blade Warrior saw what was happening in the air and immediately gave the order.
He didn't know if he was doing the right thing, but his gut told him that helping Alan now would pay off big time later.
Especially since Ragnarok wasn't just a simple game, Alan's existence could very well change the fate of the Jinse Empire.
One by one, Berserker Guild's archers and mages started attacking Andrew.
The Berserker Guild, backed by the government, was immensely powerful.
Even someone as strong as Andrew found it hard to handle. "Damn it, this is a national war. Why are these players attacking me instead of the Night Stalkers?"
Alan also noticed the Berserker Guild's actions below. He said, "Blade Warrior, I'll remember this favor."
Raising his eyes again, Alan's gaze was razor-sharp, and his arrows were even more precise, almost every shot hitting a weak point.
"Gaia, give it your all!" Alan roared and was getting desperate.
Suddenly, Alan's eyes lit up in awe.
Gaia didn't manifest, but the Ice and Snow Goddess did, freezing King Rex with the effect of the Frozen Eye.
"This is the shot," Alan said.
The double damage from breaking the freeze, combined with the double critical hit damage and Alan's double true damage.
This shot's attack power would be terrifying.
Alan knew that such high burst damage had a chance to trigger some low-probability effects, like the Death Cycle.
[You have killed King Rex. A server-wide announcement will be made. Do you want to hide your name?]
A smile spread across Alan's face. He had finally done it!
"Hide," Alan said.
[Server-wide announcement: Congratulations to the player who has hidden their name for successfully killing King Rex. Keep up the good work, everyone.]
