Chapter 289 Opened a New World

Alan thought, 'If I dish out a million free attribute points to Robert through tasks, how jacked would he get? His HP might even top mine.'

But how difficult should these tasks be?

Alan glanced at the weapons, equipment, skill books, pet eggs, and mounts.

Alan crunched the numbers: for them to bag these rewards, they'd need to take down at least a gold-level target post-fourth job change.

It's not impossible, just a long shot.

Robert's stats are solid, but just over a million health points? Against a fourth job change gold-tier boss, that's barely a scratch.

As for James, his talent's all about stacking health and dual resistance. Thanks to Alan, his health pool is massive, and with SteadyStrategist and Robert backing him up, his Physical and Magic Defense aren't shabby either. But if all you've got is health and resistance, you're basically a glorified punching bag. James shines in dungeons because most dungeon monsters stick to their zones and don't wander off.

"That's it. Dungeons." Alan felt like he'd cracked open a whole new world. "Robert, James, got some good news for you guys."

He grinned and FaceTimed Robert.

At that moment, Robert was getting a rubdown, with a knockout working her magic on his back.

"Feels amazing. Alan, you should swing by. It's at the old Dragon Capital, my treat," Robert said.

Alan facepalmed. "You're always like this."

Robert looked a bit whiny. "Come on, Alan, I've been slaying monsters all day. I'm wiped. A massage is just what I need. Plus, once it's dark, you can't even see the damn monsters. No grinding then."

"Send me the spot. I'm heading over," Alan said.

Upon hearing this, James's big mug popped into view. "Alan, we're totally on the same wavelength. Bros for life."

Alan just sighed.

Seeing the location Robert sent, Alan took a step and disappeared.

When he reappeared, Alan was already at the entrance of a massage parlor.

He walked in and spotted James and Robert chilling on the tables. "You two are really living it up."

Robert gave a sheepish grin. "What can I say, Alan? Your tasks are out of our league, and Michael's been MIA in that dungeon for days."

James butted in, "Correction. He's been gone for two weeks now. If I hadn't hit him up offline, I'd start to think he's not even in the game anymore."

Alan waved his hand, "Let's get to business, I'm giving you two a task."

"Giving a task?"

"Alan, you can give tasks now? You're even taking NPC jobs?" James was a bit surprised.

Alan grinned and then sent out the task he had pre-set.

The task was simple.

If James and Robert could snag a first-time dungeon clear, they'd score a thousand free attribute points. The tougher the dungeon, the bigger the payout.

The highest reward for a dungeon could be a hundred thousand free attribute points.

"Holy crap!" Robert dropped to his knees in front of Alan. "From now on, whatever you say, Alan, I'm all in!"

"Alright, alright," Alan waved him off. "Keep grinding, especially you, James. Don't just be a punching bag—come up with some solid combat moves."

James grinned. "I've got counter damage stacked up to nineteen percent now. Hitting me is like hitting yourself."

"Yeah, but figure it out. Don't let people ignore you while you can't even scratch them," Alan said.

James rolled his eyes. "Alan, I'm big, not clueless. Ask Robert if he can take me one-on-one."

Robert couldn't resist the jab. "Don't even start. Without Alan and SteadyStrategist, you're dead weight—easy pickings."

"Enough, Robert," Alan cut in. "You're not off the hook either. Combat skills matter. Don't just brute-force your way through grinding. Practice your moves when you can."

"Got it, Alan."

With that, Alan waved his hand and vanished through the Royal Portal.

With the small stuff out of the way, it was time to focus on the bigger picture.

Night Spirit God and Silver-Eyed Nicholas were still alive, and that didn't sit right with Alan.

He reappeared at the Sea God Temple.

Lysander seemed to sense his presence and stepped out. "Ice King, my last injury's still healing. What do you want now?"

Alan grinned, "Just a quick question—where's Silver-Eyed Nicholas?"

Lysander narrowed his eyes. "Ice King, is your thirst for revenge that deep? You took down the Sea God, and now you're gunning for Silver-Eyed Nicholas too?"

"I'm all about justice," Alan said, straight-faced. "Everyone wants to kill an evil god like him. I'm just delivering what's due."

Lysander couldn't help but roll his eyes, "If I didn't know you, I might have believed you."

"Seriously, don't tell me you don't know."

Lysander shrugged. "I'm not all-knowing, so I really don't have a clue. But the Mountain and Sea Empire has an organization that might."

"What organization?"

"Cult of the Divine Sheep."

In his past life, the Mountain and Sea Empire never revived, so Alan was in the dark about it.

"I also heard from my god, the Sea Goddess, that the Mountain and Sea Empire didn't just fall asleep because of outside pressure. There were internal threats too. This Cult of the Divine Sheep represents the  —they worship the Black Goat of the Woods, Shub-Niggurath."

Alan's brow furrowed. It seemed the Mountain and Sea Empire wasn't as stable as it looked.

"Also, from what I've pieced together, the current Mountain and Sea Empire is less than one-fifth of what it once was. At its peak, it ruled the entire Vast Continent. What's revived now is just a fraction of that."

Alan nodded. He'd already heard this from Billy.

"In adventurer terms, you might trigger a quest to fully revive the Mountain and Sea Empire. As for how to trigger it, I'm not sure. You'll have to figure it out. But if you can, it'll be a game-changer for you."

Alan leaned in closer to Lysander and lowered his voice. "Name your price. Give me something real."

Knowing Lysander's nature, Alan was sure the guy had more intel, but getting it for free wasn't happening.

"Come on, Ice King, with our relationship, you really think I'd hold out on you?" Lysander said, feigning offense.
