Chapter 242 The Divine Power Shielded the Fifth Fragment
Kenneth furrowed his brows, looking pretty serious. "We've got a piece of Silver-Eyed Nicholas's tentacle. If you want it, I can hand it over. But as for this pre-quest scroll of the gods' blessings, I don't have any tasks that need your help right now."
Kenneth then bowed. "All I implore is that you exhibit a measure of clemency, Ice King. In return, I can furnish you with immensely valuable information."
Alan replied, "What info? Spill it."
"Vampire Marquis Oberon has rolled into Chaos Territory, and he's taken a drop of divine blood."
Alan raised an eyebrow. "Can his body handle divine blood?"
"No clue, but that's what I heard. He's tight with Leona, and he's here to take you out."
"We've got beef. Shouldn't you be backing him against me?" Alan shot back.
Kenneth shook his head. "Nah, I think going after you is a dumb move. Maybe he's been asleep too long and got his wires crossed."
Alan said, "Actually, I already knew he was gunning for me. This info isn't that big of a deal to me. How about this: you meet someone, and I'll pull the undead out of Cape Mine."
Kenneth asked, "Deal. When do we meet?"
Alan said, "I'll let her know, and when she gets to Blood Crow Ancient City, I'll give you a heads-up."
"Alright."
Alan could use the Royal Portal to take Kenneth to meet SnowflakeChaser, but he wasn't feeling it. Maybe because SnowflakeChaser was a pain.
There was another, more important reason. Before SnowflakeChaser and Kenneth met, Alan could go nuts mining iron ore.
It might not help Alan a ton, but it was still a way to stack up some wealth. Wealth didn't just fall into your lap. Having been through some major disasters, he knew how crucial these resource-based assets were.
After wrapping up his chat with Kenneth, Kenneth was about to leave. But Alan suddenly called out, "Do you and Rex have different beliefs?"
Kenneth paused, looking a bit surprised. "People have different beliefs. Isn't that normal?"
As expected, the teleportation flag Leona had shown earlier was something from the Sea God faction. She probably hadn't been to Chaos Territory herself. So that teleportation flag was given to her by someone from the Sea God faction.
Who could it be? The answer was starting to take shape. With Kenneth's response, it was almost certain.
"Do you know who else has fragments of this tentacle?" Alan asked again.
Whether from the Sea God Temple Lord or from Cassius, he had only heard about four fragments of the tentacle. There was still one fragment whose location Alan didn't know.
Hearing Alan's question, Kenneth thought for a moment. "It should be with the Sea God Temple and the Sinclair Family. As for how many fragments they have, I don't know."
"What about the Ashford Family? They've got four platinum-level experts. Could they have one?" Alan asked.
Kenneth shook his head. "Probably not. If they did, I should know."
Alan squinted slightly. Kenneth's confidence in saying he "should know" hinted that he knew a lot about the Ashford Family, or that he had people inside it.
In fact, Alan suspected that Kenneth had people in many factions. Previously, the Sea God Temple Lord had mentioned that many factions in Chaos Territory were actually under Kenneth's control.
After sending Kenneth off, Alan shot a message to SnowflakeChaser, telling her to come on her own.
Alan wasn't in a rush. With the Code of Life and Death constantly boosting his health, he could keep diving into the True Essence of the Sea Manual.
Reaching godhood through enlightenment was way stronger than through faith. But with Alan's current talent, following the Sea God's path felt kinda beneath him.
He should aspire to roles like the God of Light or the God of Darkness. Even stronger options would be the God of Space, the God of Slaughter, or the God of Asura.
Beyond that, becoming a god through strength or time would be the ultimate goal. But that didn't stop Alan from exploring other paths.
Becoming a god through just one path was, honestly, pretty basic. At least in Alan's eyes, with his talent, it was kinda meh.
According to legends, many gods had taken more than one path. There were plenty of ways to become a god.
Thinking about all that now was a bit premature. Using his limited time to level up as much as possible was the smart move. Right now, Alan needed to figure out where the last fragment of the tentacle was.
Based on the clues, Alan had already snagged four fragments. The fifth one, without any leads, was a bit of a headache.
Plus, Kenneth's words were kinda vague. The Sea God Temple and the Sinclair Family both had fragments, but how many was still a mystery.
It was possible someone in the Sea God Temple or the Sinclair Family had the wrong count. Maybe someone had lied to him.
These were just Alan's hunches. He didn't have any solid proof yet. To get to the bottom of it, he needed to head to Siren City.
Others might not know where Silver-Eyed Nicholas's tentacle was, but Silver-Eyed Nicholas himself would definitely know. After all, he was a god and would have a sense of his own body.
If Silver-Eyed Nicholas knew, then the leader of Siren's Slumber Isle would also know.
With that in mind, Alan opened the Royal Portal and stepped through, landing once again in Siren City.
When he got to Siren City, he saw SnowflakeChaser's Giant Winged Purple Bird taking off.
Ambrose greeted him, "Mr. Ice, you sure drop by often."
Alan got straight to the point with Ambrose. "Ambrose, let's cut to the chase. I've found four fragments of what you need. There's one more left. I think you should know where it is."
Ambrose looked a bit taken aback. "I don't know, but my leader might. Mr. Ice, please hang tight for a moment."
With that, Ambrose pulled out a communication scroll and walked away.
It didn't take long for Ambrose to come back. Seeing Alan, he shook his head helplessly. "He says he doesn't know."
Alan was stunned. The head of Siren's Slumber Isle must have had contact with Silver-Eyed Nicholas. It didn't make sense that he didn't know.
Ambrose explained, "I get what you're thinking, Mr. Ice. If my leader doesn't know, it means that fragment is being shielded by divine power, making it impossible to locate."
Alan furrowed his brows. His first thought was of the Sea God Temple Lord, Lysander.
In Chaos Territory, if anyone could get in touch with a god, it would be Ambrose and Lysander.
Kenneth was probably also from the Sea God faction, but based on Alan's judgment, he couldn't tap into much of the Sea God's power.
'Lysander, you're really something,' Alan thought with a sly grin. 'Hiding a fragment so I can never find it? Alright, let's play!'
