Chapter 208 Leander's Instant Change of Expression!
"Mr. Rainfield, I can help you..."
Before Alan could finish, a hearty laugh echoed from outside the bamboo grove.
"Percival, you can't refuse me this time."
A burly middle-aged guy with curly blonde hair stepped in.
He saw Alan sitting across from Percival and was momentarily stunned. "Percival, who's this guy?"
Percival grinned. "A young man with the same goal as you."
The blonde guy’s face darkened, and he sneered. "Kid, you can't meet Percival's demands. Forget about the prerequisite quest scroll for the Blessing of the Gods."
Alan stayed calm. "That's my business, not yours."
"Ambitious, but even if you can, it doesn't matter because I'll be faster." The blonde guy sneered and pulled out a fragment from his pocket. "This is a fragment of a weapon once used by the God of the Undead. I got it after much hardship. It should help you with your fourth job change."
"What?" Percival stood up excitedly and quickly examined the fragment. "This aura, it must be a weapon fragment of the God of the Undead."
After a moment, Percival turned to Alan. "Mr. Ice, you might be disappointed. My friend here has found a weapon fragment of the God of the Undead. With its power, I have a high chance of completing my fourth job change."
Alan smiled. "Mr. Rainfield, don't rush. Your goal is to complete the fourth job change. Let's give it a try. If you succeed with the fragment, I'll leave. But if you fail, give me a chance."
Alan wasn't worried.
He had just communicated telepathically with the God of the Undead, who assured him that even a complete weapon wouldn't help Percival succeed if he didn't want him to.
Percival looked at the blonde guy.
The blonde guy nodded. "Kid, you seem reasonable. Let's do as you say. But you have no chance. The weapon fragment of the God of the Undead is more than enough for a fifth or even sixth job change for an undead class. This fourth job change won't fail."
Alan smiled. "Don't be so confident. This is a two-star region. What if it doesn't succeed?"
In a two-star region, the normal limit was a second job change.
In a one-star region, the normal limit was a first job change.
"Alright, let's see the result." Percival reverently held the fragment and chanted some incantations that Alan couldn't understand.
Suddenly, six fireballs flew towards the bamboo grove.
Percival's face changed, and he stopped the job change, summoning a massive bone shield.
The bone shield blocked the fireballs.
A sinister voice echoed. "Percival, I haven't even completed my fourth job change, and you want to? Did you ask for my permission?"
Alan frowned, yet another person causing trouble.
At the entrance, an old man with a fiery red beard appeared, accompanied by several people in golden armor.
Dozens of Rainfield Family members surrounded them.
"Red Beard, what’s the meaning of this?" Percival shouted, trying to keep his anger in check.
The red-bearded old man sneered. "Our territories are close. We were both three-time job change archmages, so we coexisted peacefully. But now you want to secretly complete your fourth job change and upset the balance. I can't allow that."
Alan rubbed his forehead, finding it all too troublesome.
"Leave now, and you can live. If you don't, you'll stay here forever!" Alan's voice wasn't loud, but it echoed like a bell.
The red-bearded old man said, "Percival, is this guy a descendant of your family? Is this how you teach your juniors?"
Without a word, Alan acted.
An arrow struck the red-bearded old man.
[-605110!]
No critical hit!
But still, over 600,000 damage appeared.
This was the benefit of the Heart of God's Retribution combined with the Codex of Life and Death.
Alan could easily stack health while doing tasks.
Everyone was shocked.
One arrow, 600,000 damage—that was terrifying!
Two golden warriors immediately stood in front of the red-bearded old man, warily watching Alan.
The red-bearded old man trembled. "Percival, where did you find such a person?"
Percival sneered. "Still not leaving? Do you really want to die here?"
The red-bearded old man gave Alan a serious look and left with his people, dejected.
The blonde man beside Alan swallowed hard.
He had underestimated Alan before. But seeing the damage from Alan's arrow, he felt a chill down his spine.
In his current state, he couldn't withstand a few arrows.
"Thank you, Mr. Ice, for your help." Percival gave Alan a polite smile.
The blonde man was restless.
He hesitated, wondering if he should let Percival continue the job change.
If Percival succeeded, would Mr. Ice kill him to silence him?
After a brief struggle, the blonde man quickly said, "Percival, maybe we should forget it. Since Mr. Ice really wants the prerequisite quest scroll for the Blessing of the Gods. I won't take it."
Hearing this, Percival was disappointed but reluctantly returned the weapon fragment of the God of the Undead to the blonde man.
He knew the blonde man was scared.
After all, anyone would be afraid knowing their competitor was so terrifying.
The blonde man respectfully handed the weapon fragment to Alan. "Mr. Ice, I am Leander of the Ashbourne Family, a three-time job change golden warrior. It's a pleasure to meet you. Please accept this as a token of my respect."
Alan was a bit surprised.
He had to admit that Leander had good social skills.
"Although I don't need this, I'll accept it out of respect for your good manners." Alan took the weapon fragment.
It was a demigod-level weapon fragment, not rare for the God of the Undead. After all, he had sixteen demigod-level weapons.
"God of the Undead, how did your weapon fragment end up here? Who broke it?" Alan subconsciously communicated telepathically with the God of the Undead after obtaining the fragment.
