Chapter 277 Nine Divine Talent Awakening Stones
Ayla sneered, "New Hall Master? You really think you’ve got the god-slaying power like your old Hall Master? Think you can stop us from leaving?"
Most of the folks in the Hall of Glory had never seen Alan before, and now they were all giving their new Hall Master the once-over.
Only Leif knew that their supposedly impressive Hall Master was actually just a newbie who had only switched jobs once. But right now, Leif had no clue where Alan got the nerve to try and stop Ayla and her crew from leaving.
"Strength?" Alan smirked, then casually raised his hand and pressed down slightly. A massive, terrifying force came crashing down instantly.
Ayla, the Crimson Blossom Demigod, and the others' faces went pale. It felt like a mountain was pressing down on them.
"This is divine power!" The Crimson Blossom Demigod stared at Alan in shock, her whole body trembling.
"Who the hell are you?" The Crimson Blossom Demigod was completely floored.
This was a god! Not some fake divine power that demigods or false gods tried to pull off with their puny strength. In other words, the unassuming young man standing in front of her was a real-deal god, in peak condition.
Since the God War and the arrival of Ragnarok's rules, it had been ages since a fully-powered god had shown up in this world.
Ayla, less tough than the Crimson Blossom Demigod, couldn't handle the pressure and led the experts of Icefire Los Island to kneel. "This is Ayla. I meant no offense. Please spare us!"
With that, she and her crew started kowtowing like crazy. Alan stayed silent, so she kept on kowtowing. Alan lifted his eyes, his gaze landing on the Crimson Blossom Demigod.
Meeting Alan's eyes, the Crimson Blossom Demigod felt a chill run through her whole body. Then, she knelt before Alan. "Forgive me, mighty god, it was all Ayla's doing. I was in slumber, and she woke me up by force. I have no beef with the Hall of Glory. If you command, I’m willing to take out Ayla!"
Ayla, still kowtowing like mad, felt her heart skip a beat, cursing the Crimson Blossom Demigod in her mind. When things were fine, they were allies; when things went south, she became the fall guy. "Mighty god, please don’t listen to her one-sided story!"
"Enough!" Alan waved his hand with a smile. "Everyone here, leave behind a divine-grade talent awakening stone, and I'll let you go."
He had no intention of actually fighting. He was here to extort. His God-Slaying Sword Formation could take out those who had changed jobs nine times but couldn’t kill a demigod. At best, it would be a draw with a demigod. To kill a demigod, only the Sea God could do it personally.
Last time, the Sea Goddess and the Night Spirit God had a fierce fight, alarming the rules of Ragnarok. Alan had seen firsthand the divine punishment that obliterated their remnants. The Sea God was his ace in the hole, and Alan wanted to save it for a critical moment.
Hearing that, Ayla and the others were relieved and quickly handed over eight divine-grade talent awakening stones to Alan.
Alan couldn't hide his grin. Before, getting even one divine-grade talent awakening stone was a nightmare. But now, he had eight, just like that.
The Crimson Blossom Demigod frowned, doubt in her eyes. Something felt off, but she didn't dare to risk it, so she respectfully handed over a divine-grade talent awakening stone too.
"Scram!" Alan waved his hand, not wanting to waste more words.
Ayla, feeling like she had been pardoned, quickly led her people away. The Crimson Blossom Demigod also made a swift exit. The folks in the Hall of Glory looked at Alan with admiration.
"A god?"
"Our new Hall Master is actually a god."
"Dear Hall Master, it's an honor to see you!"
One by one, they bowed to Alan.
Leif was a bit stunned. He used to see Alan as a complete rookie, so he had no idea how Alan became a god.
Alan pocketed the nine divine-grade talent awakening stones. A faint smile appeared on his face. "No need! On your feet."
"Thank you, Hall Master." Annabelle looked at Alan with interest and asked playfully, "Are you really a god?"
Alan spread his hands. "Why? Don't I look like a god?"
Annabelle pointed to her nose. "I'm a Blackfire Unicorn, with an incredible sense of smell and keen perception. I suppose you haven't changed jobs more than three times."
Alan's mouth twitched. The Hall of Glory's Hall Master token wasn't foolproof.
"Your nose isn't sharp enough." With that, Alan smiled. "Anyway, thank you for standing up for the Hall of Glory." He added, "And you, Lachlan, from now on, we're friends."
Lachlan, flattered, quickly bowed. "It's my great honor."
Annabelle came up and took Alan's arm, smiling. "Why thank me? My father is the guardian beast of the Hall of Glory, and I'm here to take his place."
"Oh? Where is your father?" Alan had noticed earlier that the Crimson Blossom Demigod seemed very afraid of Annabelle's father.
"My father? Like other gods, he's sealed away."
Alan was a bit surprised. "Your father is a god?"
"Not quite, but close. With our Blackfire Unicorn bloodline, we can fight gods."
Alan understood, and his gaze fell on Leif. "Leif, take me to see Darius. Now, I should be able to save him."
Leif still couldn't figure out what was going on with Alan. And with what Annabelle said earlier, he was even more certain that he hadn't been mistaken before; Alan wasn't a god but a rookie who had only changed jobs once.
