Chapter 217 The Secret Key of Sea God Island!

A short guy with sky-blue eyes strolled out, causing quite a buzz.

"It's Lord Ignatius, the four-time job-changed Golden Assassin from the Siren Guild. Can't believe he's here in person."

"It must be something special for him to show up."

"No wonder I saw some big names around today. They must've had a tip-off."

Alan was curious, thinking, 'What's more valuable than an equipment evolution scroll? Maybe a Talent Evolution Flower, a God-level Talent Awakening Stone, or a Pre-Quest Scroll for the Blessing of the Gods? This could be interesting.'

Ignatius took the stage, raised his hand, and an ancient-looking box appeared.

The box wasn't big, so it probably wasn't a scroll.

Lumielle announced, "Today's final auction item: The Sea God Island Key."

The box opened, showing an ancient key, light blue like a crystal, glowing faintly.

Alan asked the maid next to him, "What's the Sea God Island Key for?"

The maid looked surprised, like she couldn't believe he didn't know.

She explained, "Sea God Island is where Lord Sea God rests. The key is the token to access it."

Alan was skeptical. "It doesn't sound very useful."

The maid replied, "You're joking, right? If Lord Sea God were in a permanent sleep, sure. But a part of his soul is awake."

She added, "Guidance from Lord Sea God's soul is invaluable. Two of the three four-time job-changed Platinum-level powerhouses got there thanks to him."

"A wisp of a soul?" Alan smirked.

If it was just a wisp, it wasn't a deep sleep. More likely, he was severely injured or sealed, like the Ice Goddess.

Either way, this was good news for Alan. Seeking deities was already no easy task; searching for the remnant souls of deities was even more arduous. His Soul Gathering List still had many vacancies to be filled.

"I see," Alan said, deciding to get the key.

Ignatius announced, "Starting bid for the Sea God Island Key is ten million, with increments of at least one hundred thousand."

Bids started flying in.

"Fifty million!"

"Sixty million!"

"Eighty million!"

The price quickly neared a billion.

It eventually broke a billion and kept climbing.

"One hundred and twenty million""

"One hundred and thirty million."

"One hundred and fifty million!"

The bidding slowed after hitting one billion five hundred million.

For many, betting over a billion gold coins on the chance of a four-time job change was still steep.

But Alan didn't care.

Alan's goal was to get the Sea God on his Soul Gathering List, and a bit of money wasn't going to stop him.

"Two hundred million !" Alan raised the bid without a second thought.

"Two hundred and five million."

Someone was still trying to outbid him.

"Two hundred and fifty million," Alan countered.

"Two hundred and fifty-five million."

Alan didn't expect the person in Room 2 to keep pushing.

'Is he just trying to jack up the price?' Alan wondered, eyeing Room 2.

"Three hundred millioon!" Alan called out, testing the waters.

"Three hundred and five million." came the reply from Room 2.

Alan chuckled. The guy was clearly trying to mess with him.

In Room 2, Peregrine Ashford smirked. 'Think you have endless gold? I'll make you waste a couple billion more.' He wasn't worried about Alan's status. As a three-time job-changed Golden-level warrior with a powerful brother, he felt untouchable.

Seeing Alan bid high earlier had annoyed him, so he decided to make Alan pay.

But then Alan stopped bidding.

The price stayed at three billion fifty million.

"Three billion fifty million once, any more bids?" Ignatius's voice echoed, hammering into Peregrine's mind.

Peregrine stared at Alan's VIP room. Why had Alan suddenly given up?

"Three billion fifty million twice."

Peregrine panicked. The price was way above the usual one hundred and fifty million to one hundred and eighty million range.

He wanted to back out, but with Ignatius there, he couldn't. A four-time job-changed Golden-level assassin was not someone to mess with.

"Three hundred and five milllion for the third time. Congratulations to the guest in Room 2 for winning the Sea God Island Key," Ignatius announced.

Peregrine's heart sank. He could gather the three hundred and five milllion by selling everything, but he'd be left with nothing.

He glared venomously at Alan's VIP room, blaming him for the loss.

But Alan's cold gaze was also fixed on Room 2. 'Think raising the price is fun? I'll send you to hell for that.'

As the auction ended, Alan received his items.

He put on the mana recovery shell and picked up the equipment evolution scroll.

Without hesitation, he used it on the Purification Amulet.
