Chapter 489 Alexander Chases His Wife

Alexander's lips were burning hot, and the heat from his breath was even more alarming.

Sophia felt something was wrong and softly called out, "Alexander, do you have a fever?"

"No, I'm just really tired. Let me hold you for a while, and I'll be fine."

"But why are you so hot? Let me feel."

Alexander laughed softly against her shoulder, "Feel where?"

"Stop talking nonsense. Sit beside me, and I'll get a thermometer to check your temperature."

Sophia immediately called a nurse and asked for a thermometer, placing it under Alexander's armpit.

Alexander hadn't slept for several days and had performed several rescues and major surgeries. It was no wonder he was exhausted.

This was the first time Sophia had seen Alexander like this.

Alexander usually had a nonchalant demeanor.

Seeing him in this sickly state made her heart ache a little.

A few minutes later, Sophia took out the thermometer and glanced at the temperature.

She immediately said, "Alexander, you have a fever, 103 degrees Fahrenheit."

Hearing this, Tessa immediately walked over and looked at Alexander with some concern.

"He hasn't had such a high fever in years. The last time was when he jumped into an ice hole to save Elodie when he was a kid. Sophia, we're waiting to see Elodie. You take Alexander home and give him some medicine."

Sophia said, "With such a high temperature, shouldn't he get an IV?"

"No need, just take some fever-reducing medicine a few times, and he'll be fine. Even though Alexander is a doctor, he's been afraid of injections and IVs since he was a child. He could cry for half a day when getting a vaccination."

Alexander opened his tired eyes, his voice a bit hoarse, "Mom, can you not expose me in front of my wife? My tall image is instantly gone with what you said."

Tessa laughed and said, "What tall image are you trying to maintain in front of your own wife? Your dad tried his whole life and never succeeded. You shouldn't bother either."

Hearing this, Philip chimed in, "Your mom is right. Showing some vulnerability in front of your wife can strengthen your relationship. That's how I won over your mom."

"Alright, let Sophia take you home quickly, take some medicine, and get a good sleep. Sophia, thank you for your hard work these past few days."

Sophia's cheeks turned red from the words.

She pulled Alexander's arm and asked, "Do you have medicine at home? If not, I'll buy some here."

"No, but you have some at your apartment. I want to go to your place."

Sophia drove Alexander back to her small apartment.

Alexander was feeling so miserable from the fever that he collapsed onto the bed as soon as they entered.

He held Sophia tightly and wouldn't let go.

He kept murmuring, "Sophie, I was wrong before. I shouldn't have used other women to make you angry, and I shouldn't have given you the cold shoulder for two years. Actually, I haven't been well at all these past two years. I think about you every night.

I want to be with you, to play and fight with you, and to treat you like a princess.

Sophie, can you give me another chance? I promise I won't be like before. I'll cherish you and never let you get hurt, okay?"

Alexander's voice was hoarse from exhaustion.

His tone was soft, without his usual carefree attitude.

This version of Alexander made it hard for Sophia to refuse.

From the day they met, they had been like enemies, always bickering.

It seemed like neither of them cared, but they had unknowingly fallen in love with each other.

She thought she would never be with Alexander again in this lifetime.

But when she heard those words just now, her heart ached.

Her eyes involuntarily filled with tears.

Sophia pushed Alexander, "Alexander, let go. I need to get you some medicine."

Instead of letting go, Alexander tightened his grip.

He held Sophia's chin with his large hand, looking at her with intense eyes.

"You haven't answered me yet."

"You should give me some time. I don't want to rush into things like last time without being sure of my feelings."

"Okay, how long? Three days?"

"A month. We're not young anymore. We shouldn't be careless about our feelings. We should both think carefully about whether the other person is who we want."

Alexander replied without hesitation, "I've already thought it through. Besides you, I don't want anyone else in this lifetime. Sophie, can't you see how much I like you?"

Alexander had never said such mushy words before.

Hearing it for the first time, Sophia was a bit surprised.

But at the same time, it touched a chord deep in her heart.

She looked deeply into Alexander's eyes, "Alexander, if I agree this time and you act like before, I will never forgive you in this lifetime."

"Okay, I promise. If I ever get involved with another woman again, let me have erectile dysfunction for life, okay?"

Alexander's slightly feverish fingers gently caressed Sophia's cheek.

His passionate eyes were filled with intense light.

"Sophie, I'm serious this time. Please give me another chance."

Facing Alexander's affectionate eyes, Sophia felt overwhelmed.

She immediately lowered her gaze and pushed him away, "We'll talk when you get better."

Hearing this, a smile appeared on Alexander's lips, "If you agree now, I'll get better immediately. I have a quick way to reduce the fever. Do you want to know?"
