Chapter 607 Dispel Doubts
Speculation is one thing.
Hearing confirmation is another.
When Theodore heard the news, it felt like his heart stopped.
His grip on the pen tightened.
The girl he had been searching for over four years was finally found.
Not only that, she had given him a beautiful, adorable daughter.
Thinking about what Wilhelmina and Kaia had gone through, Theodore felt a pang in his chest.
A woman with a child, constantly hounded by a greedy, gambling father.
Yet despite all this, Wilhelmina never wanted to tell him the truth.
Even though he had already met Kaia, even though Kaia always wanted a dad.
Thinking about it, Theodore felt both heartache and anger towards Wilhelmina.
Wilhelmina had deceived him for so many years.
She had hidden the fact that she had given birth to his daughter.
Theodore dialed Wilhelmina's extension, and her gentle yet efficient voice came through.
"Mr. Vale, what can I do for you?"
"Wilhelmina, come to my office."
"Alright, I'll be right there."
Two minutes later, Wilhelmina knocked on Theodore's door.
Knowing the truth, seeing Wilhelmina again stirred up indescribable emotions in Theodore.
He wanted to rush over and hold Wilhelmina in his arms, scolding her fiercely.
Theodore wanted to ask her why she had hidden the truth.
But he was afraid that doing so would scare Wilhelmina away.
Theodore's handsome eyes gazed at Wilhelmina, his voice low, "I promised Kaia yesterday that I'd come to your place tonight."
Wilhelmina was a bit surprised, "Mr. Vale, you have an overseas meeting tonight. You shouldn't take Kaia's words too seriously; it might spoil her."
"I like her, and I want to spoil her. Is there a problem with that?"
Wilhelmina's heart pounded at his words.
She hadn't been around Theodore for long, but she knew he wasn't someone who easily showed affection to others.
His fondness for Kaia was genuine.
Could it really be because of their blood relation?
If they continued like this, would he discover the truth?
The thought made Wilhelmina anxious.
Her eyes blinked a few times before she said, "Mr. Vale, if you keep delaying work for Kaia, people will talk. I don't want to be caught up in rumors, so please reconsider."
Theodore bit his lip silently.
Was it because she feared gossip that she left alone back then?
He stood up from his chair and walked over to Wilhelmina.
Leaning down, he looked directly at her.
His voice carried a teasing tone, "So, tell me, what are you worried about?"
As he got closer, Wilhelmina instinctively wanted to step back.
But before she could move, a strong hand wrapped around her waist.
With a firm pull, she fell into his arms.
Feeling his strong heartbeat and warmth, Wilhelmina was both nervous and excited.
This embrace was something she had longed for; this man she had secretly loved for years.
Wilhelmina wanted to tell him, "Theodore, we have a child, and she is Kaia."
But she knew that once she said it, their relationship would change.
Wilhelmina would be placing an invisible shackle on Theodore.
Forcing him to accept that he had a daughter.
Even though Theodore liked Kaia, she knew that wasn't the life he wanted.
If having a child could make him settle down, he would have done so long ago.
Why wait all these years?
His love for that girl surpassed everything, even himself.
So, she couldn't ruin his bright future.
Understanding this, Wilhelmina instinctively struggled, saying, "Mr. Vale, this is the office. Please show some respect."
Theodore's eyes lowered, his intense gaze almost burning a hole through Wilhelmina.
This damn woman, he wanted to forget everything and punish her like that night.
Without teaching her a lesson, she wouldn't learn.
Theodore grabbed Wilhelmina's chin, his hot breath on her face.
He leaned in, their noses almost touching.
In a husky voice, he said, "What if I said I want to be Kaia's dad? Would that be okay?"
Wilhelmina, already flustered by his advances, was stunned by his words.
She stared at Theodore's handsome face, her mouth moving but no words coming out.
"Mr. Vale, what did you say?"
Theodore flicked her forehead, a mysterious smile on his lips.
"How did someone as dumb as you have such a smart daughter like Kaia? Isn't it obvious? I want to pursue you."
His words ignited a spark in Wilhelmina's mind.
A firework exploded in her brain.
Theodore said he wanted to pursue her.
He also said he wanted to be Kaia's dad.
She thought she was hearing things.
Wilhelmina's eyelashes fluttered, her voice hoarse, "Mr. Vale, I know you're kind and you like Kaia, but you don't have to sacrifice your happiness, give up the girl you've loved for years, just to accommodate Kaia. I won't let you do that."
Hearing this, Theodore's brows furrowed deeply.
His grip on Wilhelmina's chin tightened, his voice cold, "Who told you I've loved a girl for years?"
Wilhelmina lowered her eyes, not daring to look directly at Theodore.
In a small voice, she said, "Your sister Isabella told me. She said you had a girl you liked, she went abroad, and you've been waiting for her to come back."
Theodore bit his lip hard.
Damn, Isabella had really messed things up for him.
He stared at Wilhelmina, his tone serious, "Wilhelmina, listen to me. I did like Phoenix before and thought about spending my life with her.
But she left for her dance career, ignoring my objections. Do you think I'm that pathetic? That I'd still be pining for her after she dumped me?"
Hearing this, Wilhelmina couldn't help but feel shocked.
It was like a wall in her heart had been shattered.
A ray of sunshine warmed her heart.
The feelings she had buried deep inside surged up.
Her eyes turned red.
She looked into Theodore's intense gaze, her voice hoarse, "So you don't like her anymore?"
Theodore, frustrated, bit his lip, his voice low, "Wilhelmina, you're not just a little liar, you're also a little fool. Foolish enough that I want to punish you right now."
He said it, and he meant it.
He cupped Wilhelmina's face, ignoring her struggles, and kissed her deeply.
