Chapter 535 Son-in-law Calls Dad
Paxon quickly climbed onto the chair, his bright eyes locked on Darren.
He waved his little hand in front of Darren's face and asked softly, "Grandpa, can you really not see me?"
Hearing the word "Grandpa," Darren's tears flowed even more.
He slowly reached out in the darkness to find Paxon's hand, bringing it to his lips for a kiss. "But I can feel you, Paxon, and that's enough for me."
Seeing Darren's current state, which reminded him of when Sebastian was blind, Paxon couldn't help but get teary-eyed.
He had overheard the adults talking earlier. Although he didn't fully understand what donating a cornea meant, he grasped the general idea.
Sebastian's eyes were healed because of Darren, which is why Darren was now blind.
Paxon gently stroked Darren's face with his small hand and said sweetly, "Grandpa, don't be scared. I can be your eyes from now on. I'll take you to see the old ladies dancing in the park."
Darren, who had been very sad just moments ago, suddenly laughed at Paxon's words.
He hugged Paxon tightly and said, "My precious boy, just seeing you makes me happy."
Paxon blinked his innocent eyes a few times. "That's easy. Let Uncle bring you home, and I'll visit you every day. Mom's about to have my little brother and sister. When they grow up, I'll bring them to see you too."
Hearing this, Darren's mind filled with a warm, happy image.
He had dreamed of this scene countless times.
But it was just a dream, one he might never have in reality.
Darren's lips curved bitterly. "Your mom won't come. I hurt her back then. Don't let her know about this. I don't want her to feel burdened."
Sebastian bent down to look at him. "Mr. Vale, Joyce has been looking for the donor. If she knew it was you, she might forgive you."
"Don't tell her. Joyce is kind-hearted. If she knew, she would be grateful, but she wouldn't be able to forget the hurt I caused her. That kind of inner conflict would be too painful for her. Just you and Paxon visiting me is enough."
Sebastian frowned slightly, a hint of sadness in his eyes.
He knew how terrifying it was to be in the darkness. Those who hadn't experienced it couldn't understand Darren's situation.
It took immense courage for someone to give up their own light for another.
Sebastian, usually a cold person, felt a pang in his heart.
Darren's sacrifice for him and Joyce moved him deeply.
Sebastian bent down and grasped Darren's hand, his voice a bit hoarse. "Dad, Paxon, and I will visit you often."
Hearing the word "Dad," Darren's unfocused eyes widened in surprise.
When he realized what had been said, he broke down in tears.
His son-in-law had called him Dad.
It was a scene he had longed for in his dreams.
Darren tightly held Sebastian's hand, his voice choked with emotion. "Sebastian, thank you for forgiving me. With you and Paxon, I'm content. As long as you and Joyce are happy, it's all worth it."
Sebastian nodded firmly. "Now that you can't see, you should come back home. It's too hard for Theodore to keep traveling back and forth. If you come back, I can help take care of you with him."
Darren's tears flowed even more. "I just don't want to make Joyce sad. I don't want to be a part of her life and remind her of the past."
"The past is the past. Joyce isn't someone who holds grudges. You should focus on getting better. I'll be here for a few more days to handle things, and then we can go back together. Don't you want to be there for the arrival of Joyce and my other two kids?"
Darren nodded repeatedly. "Of course I do. I dream about it. How are they?"
"They're doing great, already six months along. One boy and one girl. I think the girl will be as beautiful as Joyce. Soon, you'll have two more grandchildren calling you Grandpa."
Hearing this, Darren's spirits lifted significantly.
He searched for Theodore in the darkness. "Theodore."
Theodore immediately walked over and held his hand. "Dad, I'm here."
"Prepare gifts for the two babies. Gold bracelets, baby outfits, everything. These are things the family should provide."
"I know. I'll take care of it when we get back."
"And buy more gold jewelry for my granddaughter. She can use it as a wedding gift when she gets married."
"Gold is expensive right now. Aren't you worried about overpaying?"
"It won't be a loss. By the time she's in her twenties, it might have doubled in value."
They discussed bringing Darren back home. Sebastian and Paxon stayed for dinner with Darren before leaving.

Leonard brought Orla home.
He placed her things in the guest room and then looked at her. "Do you like this guest room? You can come over on weekends and treat this place like your own home."
Orla looked at the pink and white decor, her lips curving into a smile. "Uncle, can I really come over often?"
Leonard raised an eyebrow at her. "Why not? Tyler is friends with my brother, which makes him my friend too. It's only right to take care of you."
"Uncle, from the moment I met you, I thought you were a really good person."
Orla's innocent face was lit up with a sweet smile.
Like a blooming sunflower, she unknowingly brought warmth to others.
Leonard smiled and ruffled her hair. "Just like Tyler, you have a sweet mouth. What do you want for dinner? I'll cook for you."
Orla looked at him in surprise. "You don't have a housekeeper?"
"No, I don't like having strangers around."
Orla pointed to the things in the room. "Did you buy all these for me?"
"Who else? Your uncle said you're hard to please and very picky."
"Can I say that everything you bought is perfect for me?"
Leonard's lips curved. "I'm glad you like it. Go take a shower and change. I'll start cooking."
"Okay, Uncle. I want pasta. Can you make that?"
"Yes."
"And a fried egg. No carrots or broccoli."
"Really? I only have those two vegetables at home. You'll have to make do."
Orla pouted and blinked her eyes. "Alright then."
As Leonard left, she immediately lay on the bed.
Hugging a big white teddy bear, her lips curved with excitement.
"Leonard, I'm here."
