Chapter 608 Kaia's Dad
As Theodore's lips touched hers again, every nerve in his body seemed to come alive with excitement.
The girl he had missed for four years, the feeling he had longed for, was finally his again.
Theodore had missed out on his girl, missed out on the fact that she had given him a daughter.
He didn't want to miss out on anything else.
Even if Wilhelmina didn't like him now, he was determined to keep her by his side.
The girl he had waited for four years, he would never let go of again.
Theodore's kiss was filled with so many emotions.
There was longing, anger, but most of all, there was tenderness.
Tenderness for Wilhelmina, hiding the truth after that night, tenderness for her raising their child alone for four years.
He didn't need to imagine how hard her life had been during those years; he knew it had been tough.
As he kissed her, his large hand gently caressed Wilhelmina's ear.
A low, husky voice escaped his throat: "Wilhelmina, don't push me away. I will take good care of you and Kaia."
Wilhelmina was caught off guard by his sudden kiss and confession.
She wanted to struggle, wanted to push Theodore away.
But she craved his taste, craved this kiss too much.
In the end, Wilhelmina wrapped her arms around Theodore's neck and began to respond to the kiss.
They didn't know how long they kissed in the office.
Finally, when Wilhelmina felt she was about to suffocate, Theodore slowly released her.
His eyes were filled with an unquenchable desire.
He gently caressed Wilhelmina's slightly reddened lips, his voice hoarse, "Silly girl, can't even handle a kiss properly. Don't you know how to breathe?"
Wilhelmina's eyes were red as she looked at him.
She looked at the man's deep, affectionate eyes, at the face she had missed day and night.
Suddenly, her heart felt tight, and tears filled her eyes.
Her voice trembled. "Mr. Vale, we're not right for each other."
Theodore was so angry at her words that he bit her lip hard.
His voice was cold and deep. "Then tell me, how are we not right for each other?"
Wilhelmina's eyelashes were wet with tears, making her look pitiful.
She said, "I'm not good enough for you. You deserve the best girl, not a woman like me. I have a father who's a gambler."
Theodore ground his teeth in frustration.
"So you left without a word back then because of this?
First, you suspected I had feelings for someone else, and second, you worried about our different backgrounds and didn't want to trouble me, right?"
Wilhelmina didn't know if she was stunned by the kiss or shocked by Theodore's words.
For a moment, she seemed to forget how to breathe.
She stared at Theodore's deep eyes without moving.
After a long time, she finally squeezed out a small voice from her throat: "You, you knew?"
Theodore raised an eyebrow: "What do you think I know? Do you have something else you're hiding from me?"
Theodore was so angry that he pinched her chin, his voice low and husky: "Back then, I asked you to help me find that girl not just because I wanted to take responsibility. Sometimes, feelings are special. Once you've tasted something, you can't forget it.
So all these years, I've been looking for that girl. I hired private detectives, spent a lot of money, but there was never any news.
My friends and family advised me to give up and find someone to marry, but I insisted. I thought if we were meant to be, we would meet again."
Theodore's eyes softened as he looked at her. "Wilhelmina, you don't have to agree with me. But unless you help me find the girl from that night, I won't let you go."
Hearing these words, Wilhelmina realized Theodore had already figured out that Kaia was his daughter. He was pushing her to admit it herself.
Wilhelmina's tears finally spilled over. She sniffled and said, "Mr. Vale, I'm just an ordinary girl, not worth your attention. I don't have a matching family background, nor can I help you. Besides, I have a father who's a gambler. If he knew about us, he'd do anything to get money from you. I don't want people to know you have such a family."
Seeing the tears streaming down her face and hearing her heartfelt words, Theodore's heart ached even more. This silly girl always thought of others, never herself. Didn't she think about how hard it was to raise a child alone?
Theodore gently wiped away Wilhelmina's tears with his thumb, his eyes deeply fixed on her. "Do you think I'm an idiot who can't handle a scoundrel? Wilhelmina, because of your little thoughts, you made my daughter and yourself suffer so much. Did you ever think about my feelings? When I found out Kaia was my daughter, do you know how much it hurt me? She should have been pampered like a little princess from the start, but you took everything away from her because of your so-called pride. Wilhelmina, you're a selfish woman, unfit to be a good mother."
Wilhelmina looked at him with tearful eyes. "But I did think about telling you the truth. I was afraid of disturbing your happiness. With your personality, knowing Kaia exists, you would take responsibility, but that's not the life you truly want. Why should I impose it on you?"
"Do you understand now? Do you understand what I truly want?"
Wilhelmina lowered her eyes, unsure how to respond. Seeing her hesitation, Theodore angrily grabbed her chin and kissed her again. This time, the kiss was even rougher and more intense. Wilhelmina's lips seemed to bleed.
After a long time, he finally let her go, gently touching the wound on her lips, his voice low and husky. "Wilhelmina, do you understand what I want now? I want the girl from that night. I want Kaia to call me Dad. Do you understand?"
Wilhelmina's tears fell one by one. Everything was happening so suddenly, she wasn't prepared at all. She liked Theodore; she dreamed of being with him and Kaia. But now that the dream was right in front of her, it felt unreal. She feared that if she agreed, everything would turn out to be an illusion.
She looked up at Theodore, at the face she had missed for so many years. Her voice was hoarse. "Can I really?"
Seeing her cautious expression, Theodore felt a pang of tenderness. He kissed her forehead and said gently, "This was always meant to be yours, Wilhelmina. You lied to me for four years, made me search for four years. Do you still want to keep deceiving me?"
Wilhelmina shook her head vigorously, her tears falling onto Theodore's shirt. Her voice choked. "I don't want to deceive you. I'm sorry, I liked you too much, so I didn't want to trouble you."
Hearing this, Theodore looked at her in surprise. "So you liked me from the beginning?"
Wilhelmina nodded. "From the moment I first saw you, I already liked you."
