Chapter 510 I Want to Pursue You
Sophia's eyes filled with tears as Alexander hit the nail on the head.
She tried to pull herself together, but the tears betrayed her and spilled over.
Turning her head to the side, she pretended her wound hurt and said, "You're hurting me."
Alexander knew exactly why Sophia was crying.
He immediately stopped what he was doing and looked deeply into her eyes.
"Sophia, I'm sorry."
That apology was the last straw for Sophia. Her emotions, already on the edge, completely broke down.
She buried her face in her knees, not wanting Alexander to see her tears.
But she couldn't stop crying.
Ever since Alexander lost his memory, Sophia had thrown herself into work.
She thought that if she worked hard enough and made a lot of money, she could find someone else and forget about Alexander.
But after visiting Alexander's house today, her stubborn heart was pierced.
Sophia knew that the house was meant for her.
Everything inside was exactly what she liked.
They were supposed to move in happily once everything was over.
But Alexander had forgotten her.
Completely.
It was like running a marathon and finding out the finish line had moved just as you were about to reach it.
Only those who have experienced such disappointment can understand the feeling.
Alexander wrapped Sophia's thigh with gauze.
Then he bent down, picked her up, and carried her out of the tent.
Sophia thought he was taking her back, but she realized they were going in the opposite direction.
"Alexander, you're going the wrong way. It's that way," she said immediately.
Alexander responded with a simple "Hmm," but didn't stop.
In a low, hoarse voice, he said, "I'm taking you somewhere."
"There's nothing here but the beach and the ocean. Where are you taking me?"
Alexander's eyes were intense as he looked at her. "I'm taking you to die with me."
Sophia let out a sarcastic laugh. "You don't even know who I am right now. That would just be murder."
"Murder, then. I can't remember you anyway. Might as well die together. Maybe then I'll remember everything. We could be ghostly newlyweds. Wouldn't that be nice?"
"Nice? I haven't even found a man to enjoy life with yet. I'm not dying with you."
"When we get there, I'll be your man. You can do whatever you want to me. Whips, candles, handcuffs—your call."
Sophia was too busy arguing with Alexander to notice where he was taking her.
By the time she realized, they were already on a yacht.
"What are you doing?" she asked, surprised.
Alexander set her down on the yacht, fastened her seatbelt, and gently ruffled her hair. "We're eloping."
He started the engine, and the yacht roared to life.
They sped off into the deep sea, riding the waves.
Sophia's heart was racing with excitement.
She had always loved thrilling activities like this.
In the dark night, drifting on the endless ocean.
The intense thrill, combined with the cool sea breeze, made Sophia shout out in joy.
"This is amazing! We're the only boat on the entire coastline," Sophia exclaimed, her eyes sparkling with excitement.
Alexander glanced at her, a mischievous grin spreading across his face. "Want to make it even more exciting?"
"Yes!" she replied eagerly.
"Then hold on tight. I'm going to speed up."
With that, Alexander floored the gas pedal, and the yacht surged forward. Sophia instinctively leaned back, gripping the sides as the yacht leaped over the waves like a superhero, heading into the deep sea.
Sophia was exhilarated. "Alexander, there's another big wave coming. Go for it!"
"We're flying!" she shouted, her laughter mingling with the roar of the engine.
"Alexander, what if we can't find our way back?" she asked, a hint of concern in her voice.
Seeing Sophia's genuine excitement, Alexander smiled. He pointed ahead. "Sophia, look over there."
Sophia followed his finger, and her eyes widened. She saw a small island in the distance, dotted with countless twinkling lights.
"Alexander, are those fireflies? How can there be so many fireflies?" she asked, her voice filled with wonder.
Alexander smiled. "Do you want to go see?"
"Yes, let's go!" she replied, her excitement palpable.
The yacht quickly reached the island. There were no other lights on the island except for the fireflies. Alexander took out a few small boxes from a bag and held Sophia's hand as they got off the yacht.
The island was wild and overgrown with weeds. Occasionally, they could hear the sounds of insects. Sophia was about to chase the fireflies when Alexander grabbed her wrist. With a strong pull, she fell into his arms, her mouth pressed against his chest, feeling his strong, steady heartbeat.
Just as she was about to pull away, Alexander's hand held the back of her head. His deep, husky voice whispered in her ear, "Don't move. There are a lot of poisonous snakes here."
Hearing that, Sophia froze. They stood there, tightly embracing, watching the fireflies dance above them. Sophia was mesmerized. The fireflies looked like little lanterns flying in the night sky. She had only seen this on TV before. The real thing was even more breathtaking.
She couldn't help but whisper in Alexander's ear, "It's so beautiful. I've never seen so many fireflies. How did you know about this place?"
Alexander took out his phone and started recording. "Sebastian told me. He said he bought this coastline because of this island. He thought it was important to preserve this natural beauty. He wanted to bring his kids here when they grew up."
"Paxon would love this. Let's catch some and take them back for him, okay?" Sophia suggested, her voice filled with excitement.
Sophia's feet were on the rocks, her chin resting on Alexander's shoulder. Her warm breath tickled his neck, sending shivers down his spine. Alexander's grip on her tightened. Sophia's delicate face looked even more enchanting in the moonlight.
Alexander's Adam's apple bobbed, his voice even huskier. "Sophia."
Sophia looked up at him. "What?"
"Do you like it here?"
"I love it. But I have to ask, why are you being so nice to me all of a sudden? Are you trying to make up for hurting me?"
Alexander gently brushed a strand of hair from her forehead. "Can't you tell? I'm trying to win you back."
