Chapter 597 Teasing Uncle Leonard
Leonard could hear the mockery in his voice, and Orla was so angry that she grabbed Leonard's hand and bit down hard.
Glaring at him, she huffed, "You started it by making fun of me, so don't blame me for being rude."
Leonard winced in pain, then chuckled as he ruffled Orla's hair. "Can't even joke with you, huh? Fine, Uncle Leonard won't call you short anymore, okay?"
Edgar and Bianca had already stopped kissing and were watching the two bicker from the doorway.
Bianca called out softly, "Orla, come here. Auntie will help you scold him."
Orla immediately ran over, grabbing Bianca's hand and tattling, "Bianca, Uncle Leonard said I'm short, but I'm as tall as you. If he's making fun of me, he's also implying you're short."
Leonard laughed. "This little rascal already knows how to twist words."
Bianca smiled and ruffled Orla's hair, soothing her gently. "Orla isn't short at all. Girls don't need to be super tall. Nowadays, the cutest height difference is in style. With your height, finding someone who's 6'1" would be perfect."
Edgar's eyes softened as he looked at Bianca. "Honey, I'm 6'1". Our height difference is perfect."
Leonard shot him a look. "Even injured, you can't stop showing off. Just rest up; no one's going to think you're mute."
Edgar looked pitifully at Bianca. "Honey, I didn't mean to hurt his feelings. He won't dislike me now, will he?"
His voice was still hoarse from his injury, sounding soft and tender.
Leonard sniffed a few times and said, "Bianca, I feel like there's a two-faced vibe in this room."
Orla burst out laughing at their banter.
"Edgar, Uncle Leonard is calling you two-faced."
Edgar shrugged with a smile. "It's fine, as long as Leonard likes it."
"Wow, Leonard, Edgar is so romantic. No wonder Uncle Leonard is still single at your age. He just doesn't get it."
Leonard pinched Orla's neck in mock anger. "With Paxon not here, it's your turn to make fun of me. Do you want a beating?"
He applied a bit of pressure, and Orla yelped in pain. "Leonard, help! Uncle Leonard is trying to kill me!"
Bianca laughed and pulled Orla into her arms, looking at Leonard. "It's not just the kids saying it. You should really focus on your love life. Are you seriously considering marrying Lina?"
"Who said I was going to marry her?"
"But you promised Grandpa you'd get married within two years, or you'd have to accept his arrangement. It's been a year already, and you haven't made any moves."
"I just haven't met the right person."
Bianca looked at him with concern. "You haven't forgotten Joyce, have you?"
Leonard smiled. "No, I don't have any feelings for her anymore."
"If that's the case, then try meeting other girls. I know some noble princesses. I can introduce you to a few."
"I don't want to go on blind dates. I hate blind dates more than anything."
Hearing their conversation, Orla chimed in, "Uncle Leonard, I have several classmates from noble families. How about I introduce you to one?"
Leonard glared at her. "What do you take me for? Even you kids dare to set me up. Are you even human?"
Orla puffed out her cheeks, her voice muffled. "It's not that big of a deal. Just ten years. Age gaps are trendy now. Sebastian and Joyce have a six-year gap."
"That's six years, not ten. I've graduated from college, and my wife would still be in elementary school. Do you think that's appropriate?"
"It is! You can help her with her homework."
Leonard knocked her on the head in frustration. "What kind of thoughts are in that brain of yours?"
Orla bit her lip, silently grumbling to herself.
Bianca shook her head helplessly. "I can't control you. I'll let Mom deal with you later."
They chatted for a while longer, reviewing the day's events and discussing some issues that needed attention.
Leonard left the hospital room with Orla.
Once in the car, he glanced at Orla, who was sulking in the passenger seat. "Are you hungry? How about Uncle Leonard treats you to the best dinner in town?"
Orla's eyes were a bit red as she looked at him, her voice soft. "Uncle Leonard."
Seeing her like this, Leonard immediately asked, "What's wrong? Tell Uncle Leonard what's bothering you."
Orla bit her lip and asked, "Do you really not want to meet my classmates?"
Leonard laughed in exasperation. "So that's what's bothering you. No way, I don't have a thing for little girls."
Hearing his firm response, Orla suddenly felt a pang of sadness.
She had worked so hard to get close to him, but he was so dismissive of her age.
Considering their family dynamics, she realized she had even less of a chance with Leonard.
Thinking about this, tears welled up in Orla's eyes.
Unable to control her emotions, large teardrops rolled down her cheeks.
Leonard immediately took out a tissue to wipe her tears, his voice gentle. "Why are you crying? Did your classmates pay you to set them up with a boyfriend? You're really invested in this."
Orla looked at him through tear-filled eyes. "I'm sad because the person I like said the same thing. He thinks I'm too young to date. But Uncle Leonard, I really like him."
Seeing her so heartbroken, Leonard smiled and ruffled her hair. "You've really grown up, crying over someone you like. Don't cry. Let Uncle Leonard meet this person sometime. If he's as good as you say, it's not impossible."
Hearing this, Orla immediately stopped crying.
She looked at Leonard in surprise. "Uncle Leonard, are you serious?"
"Uncle Leonard wouldn't lie to you."
Orla's face lit up with a smile. "Thank you, Uncle Leonard. Let's go to your place. I don't want a fancy dinner. I want your homemade noodles."
Seeing Orla's quick change in mood, Leonard couldn't help but laugh.
She really was a child at heart, crying one moment and laughing the next.
They drove back to Leonard's house.
Orla had already fallen asleep in the passenger seat.
Today, she had pretended to be Bianca. Although Leonard assured her there would be no danger, facing real guns had scared her.
Leonard gently ruffled her hair and called softly, "Orla, we're home."
Orla didn't respond, still sleeping soundly.
Leonard got out of the driver's seat, opened the passenger door.
He wrapped his coat around Orla and lifted her into his arms.
As he walked inside, Orla's lips curled into a smile.
