Chapter 575 Knowing the Truth
Sebastian took a deep breath, then asked, "What exactly do you want to know?"
Bianca's voice was steady but intense. "I need to know who the man I've been living with really is."
"Bianca," Sebastian said gently, "if you're asking, you must already have some suspicions. He went through hell to get close to you, and almost lost his life. He had to swallow his pride and call his enemy 'father,' and he lost his mom in the process. I don't know what went down between you two, but his determination was enough to make me help him keep his secret from you."
Bianca felt a wave of despair crash over her as the truth hit home.
Her heart ached, making it hard to breathe.
From Allegra's cold demeanor towards Smith, she should have known he wasn't their cherished youngest son.
So those injuries on his body were from the William Family.
So his disappearance for days wasn't for business on the island but to try and rescue his mother, which failed.
So on her birthday, he could spot the fake Edgar right away.
So Snowball liked him because he was its real owner.
As all these thoughts flooded her mind, Bianca's eyes welled up with tears.
She thought she had slowly come to accept Smith, but it turned out she had fallen in love with Edgar, who was living under a different name.
She never imagined their lives would be so intertwined.
He became her husband, carrying the weight of avenging his mother's death and dealing with family feuds.
Seeing Bianca's distress, Sebastian quickly tried to comfort her. "Bianca, you need to take this one step at a time. If his identity gets out, he'll be charged with deception and face serious legal trouble in Snowpeakia. You don't want him spending the rest of his life in prison."
Bianca wiped her tears and asked, "Why did it have to be this way?"
"He's Caspian's illegitimate son. The real Smith tried to stop him from claiming his inheritance and brought people to kill him. Both got hurt.
Smith was shot in the head and ended up in a coma. Caspian, thinking about the William Family's future, took his mother hostage and made him take Smith's place to marry you.
He hated his father, but he agreed to get close to you. He protected you while trying to gain control of the William Family. Only by gaining control could he escape Caspian's grip and be with you forever, even if it meant living a lie. He was willing to do that."
Hearing all this, Bianca couldn't put her feelings into words.
It was the most complicated moment she had ever faced.
Besides the pain, there was heartache.
She knew Edgar was a simple man whose biggest dream was to become a star.
But now he had to navigate the bloody waters of family feuds.
Her brother Sebastian had been exposed to this since childhood and suffered greatly.
Edgar, on the other hand, was just a simple artist.
When did he learn to shoot? When did he become ruthless?
When did he learn the family business?
How much suffering did he endure alone on this path?
Thinking about this, Bianca softly said, "Sebastian, help him."
Sebastian understood her immediately.
Sebastian reassured her, "Don't worry, Leo and I will help him take control of the William Family. It'll also strengthen your position. Bianca, you became queen for the Winters family. We won't let you go through this alone. Your feelings and your status will be protected by Leo and me. Just focus on being a great queen."
Bianca's tears streamed down her cheeks at his comforting words.
She wasn't alone in this foreign land. She had the powerful Winters family and the Guise Family behind her, along with two loving brothers supporting her.
No matter the storm, they would stand by her.
Bianca nodded through her tears, "Sebastian, thank you. After some time, I'll come back with him to see the kids."
Sebastian smiled, "Alright, stop crying. If Mom sees, she'll worry. Let me share some good news. Your nephew Paxon is starting kindergarten soon. He won't be bothering me at home anymore."
Bianca wiped her tears and said, "No wonder Paxon complained to me that you treat him poorly since having your own kids. Don't be like that, or he'll feel neglected."
"Don't listen to his nonsense. Joyce and I never neglect him. We always consider his feelings and try not to favor the younger ones too much. Having more kids is great, but it's tough to balance."
"When we were kids, I always felt Dad treated you better and groomed you as the heir. I was upset back then. Later, I realized Dad didn't want me, a girl, to be tainted by the business world's mess. He said his little princess should live happily without worries. I never thought I'd end up worrying about an entire country."
Sebastian felt a pang of sadness, "Every time Mom and Dad talk about this, they get emotional. They always feel they are burdening you. That's why I must protect your marriage and help you find someone who truly loves you."
Bianca and her brother hadn't had such an open conversation in a long time.
After Sebastian hung up, the kids were already asleep.
Paxon was nestled in Joyce's arms, listening to a story.
Sebastian walked over, kissed Paxon on the cheek, and said with a smile, "Still clinging to my wife? Didn't I get you an e-reader? You can pick any story you want."
Paxon blinked his big eyes and said, "Mom insisted on reading to me. She said I should sleep with her tonight, and you should sleep with the younger ones."
Hearing this, Sebastian laughed, patted Paxon on the back, and lay beside him, hugging him.
"Then we'll all sleep together. We're a loving family."
Paxon widened his eyes in surprise and asked, "Did Aunt Bianca say something to you? Did she tell you not to mistreat me? She understands my struggles. She's so nice, I almost want to tell her Uncle Smith's secret."
Sebastian raised an eyebrow and asked, "What do you know?"
Paxon looked at him with bright eyes and said mysteriously, "It's a secret between me and Uncle Smith. I promised not to tell anyone, so I can't tell you."
Seeing Paxon like this, Sebastian knew he must have discovered something.
No wonder he had been acting mysteriously and watching Edgar's movies lately.
He initially thought he was watching Sophia, but it turned out he had discovered a secret.
But seeing Paxon keep his promise at such a young age made Sebastian proud.
He kissed Paxon on the cheek and said, "Good boy, keeping others' secrets is commendable."
Paxon proudly raised his little face and replied, "I also know Uncle Leonard's secret, and I haven't told anyone. Dad, am I awesome?"
