Chapter 622 Uninvited Guest
Back at their table, Theodore looked Wilhelmina up and down, his eyes full of concern. "Why didn't you call me when you were in trouble?"
Seeing that he was genuinely upset, Wilhelmina smiled and said, "From the moment I saw Phoenix, I knew this dinner wouldn't be simple. During the meal, she kept staring at us and whispering to her friends.
"I figured they were planning something against me, so I prepared myself before going to the restroom.
"When Jett tried to approach me, I used pepper spray on him first, then took the opportunity to give him a good beating.
"I knew Phoenix was behind this. She wanted to humiliate me publicly, so I gave her a taste of her own medicine.
"She won't stop unless she gets a lesson."
Hearing this, Theodore pulled Wilhelmina into his arms.
He gently stroked her head and said softly, "You're my wife now. No matter what happens, I've got your back. You don't have to face everything alone anymore."
He didn't need to think hard to know that Wilhelmina's skills were honed out of necessity.
Growing up in that environment, the first thing she had to learn was how to protect herself.
Dealing with Brian's abuse and the bullying from others.
Thinking about her past experiences made Theodore's heart ache.
Wilhelmina nestled in Theodore's embrace and said softly, "I understand. From now on, I'll be a good Mrs. Vale."
This incident not only didn't trouble Wilhelmina but also taught Phoenix a lesson.
The news of Theodore and Wilhelmina's upcoming wedding quickly spread through high society.
And the busiest ones for this wedding weren't the adults, but the kids.
Paxon was not only part of the groomsmen but also the ring bearer.
He got up early in the morning.
He quietly pushed open Sebastian's bedroom door.
He immediately saw Sebastian holding Joyce, both sleeping soundly.
Meanwhile, Zaid and Ingrid were already awake, looking at each other and babbling.
Seeing Paxon come in, the two little ones waved their hands excitedly.
They grinned widely.
Paxon walked over, took their little hands, and sighed, "Hey, don't be mad. Mom and Dad are like this. They're the real deal, and we're just happy accidents. I've been through this, so I'm used to it."
The two little ones thought Paxon was playing with them and got even more excited.
Their little arms and legs waved non-stop.
They were thrilled.
Hearing the commotion, Sebastian opened his eyes and saw the scene.
He kissed Joyce on the forehead, patted her head, and whispered, "Sleep a bit more. I'll check on them."
He got out of bed, gave Paxon a playful swat on the butt, and laughed, "Talking bad about me and your mom first thing in the morning? Is that how a big brother should act?"
Paxon looked at him with big, bright eyes and pouted, "Is that how parents should act? Zaid and Ingrid have been awake for ages, and you two are still cuddling and sleeping."
Sebastian raised an eyebrow, "Cuddling with my wife makes for a good sleep. You wouldn't understand, you don't have one."
"Hmph, just wait a few months. My wife will be born soon, and then I'll stay at my godmother's house and cuddle her every night."
"You want to cuddle her? Your godfather better be okay with that. If he kicks you out, don't say I didn't warn you."
Watching Sebastian and Paxon banter made Zaid and Ingrid even more excited. They babbled non-stop.
Sebastian bent down to pick up Ingrid, kissed her, and said, "Ingrid is the best, Daddy's little princess. Not like Paxon, thinking about a wife at three years old. All my love wasted."
Ingrid responded to Sebastian's touch with a pout. Seeing her cute little face melted Sebastian's heart.
He quickly cleaned up the two kids and took them to the nursery for feeding.
Paxon took the chance to climb into Joyce's bed, snuggling into her arms, his big eyes blinking at her.
Joyce had been awake for a while. Feeling his presence, she couldn't help but smile and said, "Why are you up so early?"
Seeing his mom awake, Paxon finally spoke, "Mom, did you forget? Today is Uncle's wedding day. As a groomsman and ring bearer, shouldn't I get there early?"
Hearing this, Joyce kissed his forehead with a smile, "My busy little man, wearing so many hats. The wedding starts at ten, we have time."
"But Kaia has already called me several times. She wants me to pick her up early."
"Alright, we'll get ready and head out soon."
The whole family was mobilized, even Leonard came back for the wedding.
The wedding was held at the Vale Mansion. Besides family and friends, Theodore also invited business partners. He wanted everyone to know that Wilhelmina was his wife, ensuring she would be respected wherever she went.
With Wilhelmina's mother deceased and her father in prison, she only invited a few close colleagues.
The wedding ceremony was simple.
The little groomsmen were the most excited throughout the process.
When Todd and Paxon came to pick them up, Kaia clapped her hands excitedly.
"Todd, do I look pretty?"
She wore a white princess dress with a veil matching Wilhelmina's.
Todd smiled and patted her head, "You look beautiful, Kaia. The prettiest little princess."
Kaia squinted her eyes and said, "You all look great today too."
Wilhelmina felt like she was in a dream until she stood on the stage, exchanging rings with Theodore.
Watching Theodore put the ring on her finger and listening to his vows, Wilhelmina couldn't hold back her tears anymore.
She was really marrying the man she loved the most.
Theodore was her first love and her dream.
She never thought this day would come.
Seeing her tears, Theodore gently wiped them away and said softly, "Mrs. Vale, let's take care of each other for the rest of our lives."
He leaned down and kissed Wilhelmina's lips.
The crowd erupted in cheers.
Just as the atmosphere reached its peak, a hoarse, aged voice came from the audience.
"Wilhelmina, you abandoned your father just to marry into a wealthy family? I raised you, and this is how you repay me?"
Hearing this voice, Wilhelmina turned sharply and saw Brian standing in the middle of the crowd.
