Chapter 579 The Queen's Interrogation
Bianca's eyes were still brimming with emotion, her voice a bit raspy, "Where are you hurt? Is it bad?"
As she spoke, she tried to unbutton Edgar's shirt.
Edgar chuckled, grabbing her wrist and kissing it, "Bianca, if you keep this up, I might get the wrong idea."
"Edgar, I'm serious. You haven't contacted me for days. You must be really hurt. Are you trying to fool me like last time?"
Edgar pulled her into a tight embrace, inhaling the faint floral scent from her. Feeling her breath, his pain seemed to lessen.
As long as he could hold her like this, even death would be worth it.
He leaned close to Bianca's ear, gently nibbling her earlobe, his voice husky, "Don't worry, the surgery went well. It won't affect anything. Give it some time, and I'll be back to my old self."
Hearing this, Bianca finally breathed a sigh of relief. She looked up at Edgar, "I'll help you take control of the William Family. I won't let them hold you back."
Edgar's eyes sparkled with happiness. He kissed Bianca's lips, "Is my girl really this protective of her man? You're so good to me, how can I not love you? Can I kiss you again?"
He leaned in for another kiss, but Bianca pushed him away. "Tell me what happened so we can plan our next move."
Edgar explained everything that had happened, then said, "Don't worry, I won't let that person get near you. I'll solve the William Family's problems before he wakes up."
Bianca thought for a moment, then said, "Since the William Family doesn't play fair, don't blame me for being ruthless. They want to kill you? Let's see how Caspian deals with this."
"You want to force him to admit I'm the real Smith?"
"That person hasn't woken up yet. We need to make Caspian believe you're his youngest son. Only then will he have no chance to turn on you later."
Hearing this, Edgar smiled and pinched Bianca's chin, "Alright, I'll fully cooperate with you."
The next day, Bianca had just finished a meeting with council members and some business tycoons when the conference room door burst open.
Edgar stormed in.
Everyone turned to look.
Caspian, seeing Edgar's angry entrance, immediately scolded, "We're in a meeting. What are you doing here? This isn't a place you can just walk into. Have you no manners? Get out!"
Edgar gave him a cold look, a sneer on his lips, "Father, tell me, is this the upbringing you speak of, where brothers kill each other?"
As he spoke, he lifted his shirt, revealing the wounds from the car accident.
Pointing to the blood-stained bandages, Edgar said, "Is this your idea of upbringing? Your eldest son tried to kill me for the William Family's power. If I hadn't dodged in time, the Queen would be mourning her husband. Don't you have anything to say?"
Caspian's face turned pale.
He hadn't expected Edgar to confront him so directly.
Everyone, including Bianca, looked at Edgar.
Seeing the blood on his bandages, Bianca's eyes welled up with tears.
She immediately stood up, walked over to Edgar, her voice choked, "Smith, you said there was a problem with the project, and you went to handle it. How did this happen?"
Her eyes full of pain, she gently touched Edgar's wound, trembling.
Edgar kissed her forehead tenderly, his voice hoarse, "Bianca, I'm sorry. I didn't want you to worry, so I kept it from you. That day, after leaving the company, Wilder William's men chased me. My brakes failed, and I was hit by two cars, falling off a bridge. If I hadn't opened the window in time, you wouldn't be seeing me now."
Hearing this, Bianca held back her pain and looked at Caspian.
Coldly, she asked, "Caspian, don't you have an explanation for me?"
Caspian stood up, nodding, "Your Majesty, it was just a brotherly quarrel. Don't take it to heart. I'll discipline that ungrateful son when I get back."
Bianca sneered, "The William Family's brotherly quarrels are quite intense. Since that's the case, bring Wilder here. I'd like to have a little fun with him, too. What do you think?"
Caspian gritted his teeth in anger. He hadn't expected Edgar to confront him so openly.
He just needed a few more days for his real Smith to wake up, then he could kick Edgar out without worry.
But now, Edgar had turned the tables.
Caspian glared at Edgar, wanting to tear off his mask in front of everyone.
To show them this wasn't his son, but an imposter.
But doing so would mean admitting to deceiving the Queen, a crime punishable by death.
Caspian quickly explained, "Your Majesty, Smith recently took over some of Wilder's business, and Wilder couldn't swallow his pride, seeking revenge. He didn't mean to kill him. After all, they are brothers."
Bianca sneered, "I've heard Caspian raised Smith as his heir, keeping him hidden for his safety. Few have seen his true face. How could such a beloved son suddenly fall out of favor, while you protect your other sons? It makes me wonder if this person is really your cherished son. Are you trying to fool me with a fake?"
Hearing this, the others chimed in, "Yes, everyone knows Caspian cherished Smith. How could he treat him like this now? His eldest son almost killed his youngest, and he shows no concern, even scolding him. It makes us suspicious."
"I heard Smith was seriously injured. Could this be a stand-in for the Queen's marriage?"
"If that's the case, the William Family is in trouble. Deceiving the King in the past meant execution."
Hearing this, Caspian broke into a cold sweat.
He couldn't tell if Bianca was genuinely suspicious or just testing him.
Wiping his sweat, he humbly said, "Your Majesty, I wouldn't dare deceive you. This is my youngest son, Smith, without a doubt. He wears a mask out of loyalty to you, saying his face is only for you to see. Please understand."
