Chapter 596 We Were Tricked
Caspian shook his head in disbelief. "No way. My people told me Bianca's pregnant, and Edgar treats her like gold. Knowing that bringing people would risk her life, why would he dare to do it? Isn't he afraid of losing his wife and kid?"
"So this whole thing was planned by Edgar and Bianca from the start. We all fell into their trap. Think about it, if Edgar treasures Bianca so much, why would he let her go on a secret visit? It's inherently risky. I think they deliberately created an opportunity for us to fall into their setup."
Hearing this, Caspian angrily swept everything off the table onto the floor.
He roared in pain, "Edgar, you killed my son. I won't let you get away with this!"
They had planned to capture Bianca if they couldn't get Edgar, using her as bait to lure Edgar in. Then they would capture him and use him to control Bianca, allowing Smith to quietly take Edgar's place.
The plan was perfect, but things didn't go as expected. Not only did they fail, but Smith ended up dead.
Caspian suddenly felt a sharp pain in his chest.
A salty, bitter taste rose in his throat, and he spat out a mouthful of blood.
Then he collapsed to the ground.
Edgar was rushed to the hospital, and Bianca sat outside waiting, tears streaming down her face.
When Leonard arrived with his men and saw her, he immediately went over to comfort her. "Bianca, don't be sad. Edgar will be fine. He loves you and your child so much; he wouldn't leave you like this. Let me take you to the waiting room. I'll inform you as soon as there's news."
He led Bianca to the waiting room.
As soon as they entered, the woman who had been crying like a rain-soaked flower wiped her tears, tore off her mask, and smiled. "Uncle Leonard, how was my performance?"
Leonard smiled and ruffled her hair. "Great job. Uncle Leonard will reward you well."
Orla's eyes lit up. "Really? Can I choose the reward?"
"Of course. Whatever you want, Uncle Leonard will agree."
"You said it, no take-backs."
Leonard tapped her head. "Alright, we'll discuss your reward later. For now, tell Bianca everything that happened so she doesn't slip up when she goes out."
Orla detailed her kidnapping by Smith and how Edgar got injured.
Then she said, "Bianca, don't worry. Edgar's wound isn't near his heart; he's not in any danger."
Despite this, Bianca's tears fell again.
She had initially disagreed with the plan, not wanting to involve Orla or see Edgar hurt. If Smith had aimed accurately, Edgar might not have survived.
But they had no choice. Without eliminating this threat, they wouldn't have peace.
So they devised this plan to lure the enemy.
Given her pregnancy, Bianca couldn't take the risk, so Leonard thought of Orla, who had a similar build.
Orla was trustworthy and wouldn't leak the plan.
Orla was brought into the palace, disguised as Bianca, and went on a secret visit.
Smith fell for it, and they led him by the nose.
In the end, he was killed in front of the Defense Department, leaving Caspian powerless to retaliate.
Kidnapping the queen and attempting to assassinate the prince were capital offenses.
Edgar woke up two hours later, seeing Bianca's weary face.
Seeing him awake, Bianca immediately called out, "Edgar."
Edgar gestured for her to be quiet, glanced at the soldiers outside the door, and weakly smiled.
Bianca, tears in her eyes, asked, "How are you? Does it hurt?"
Edgar gently shook his head. "Compared to the pain you've endured, this is nothing."
He looked deeply into Bianca's eyes, wiping away her tears with his large hand.
His voice was hoarse. "Bianca, from now on, we'll never be apart. I'll take care of you and our child."
Hearing this, Bianca's tears flowed even more.
Edgar had sacrificed so much to be with her.
He lost his mother, bowed to that bastard and called him father, learned to fight and scheme despite his gentle nature.
He gave up the career he had built from scratch.
All for the chance to be with Bianca.
He had risked his life multiple times for this day.
Recalling all this, Bianca kissed Edgar's lips, her tears falling onto his face.
She choked out, "We'll never be apart again. I love you."
She finally said the words she had kept in her heart.
These words were like a stimulant, electrifying Edgar's every nerve.
He looked at Bianca in disbelief, his voice trembling. "Bianca, what did you say? Say it again."
Bianca leaned close to his ear and whispered, "I love you."
Confirming he wasn't hallucinating, Edgar felt his heart warm.
Even his wounds seemed less painful.
He finally heard Bianca say she loved him. He had finally brought her out of the darkness.
Edgar couldn't help but hold Bianca's head.
Forehead to forehead, his voice hoarse, he said, "Bianca, I love you too. I love you so much."
Then he began to kiss her, gently at first, then deeply.
They had been through so much, but they were finally together.
He had hurt her deeply, but now he heard her say she loved him.
Edgar's excitement was all in that kiss.
From a gentle peck to a deep, passionate kiss.
He kissed every inch of Bianca's lips, as if he wanted to devour her.
As they were lost in their kiss, the door to the hospital room opened.
Seeing this, Orla's eyes widened.
She made a small sound, "Oh my God, should I be seeing this?"
Leonard quickly covered her eyes and whispered, "Don't look. You're still a kid."
Orla angrily moved his hand away. "I'm almost nineteen. I'm not a kid anymore. Can you change your old-fashioned views, Uncle Leonard?"
Leonard chuckled. "Even if you're twenty-nine, you're still a kid to me. Remember when I first met you? You were so small, barely 4'11", light as a feather in my arms."
Orla glared at him. "You're exaggerating. I was 4'12.4". And I've grown. I'm 5'4.2" now. Stop calling me short."
She hated being called short. She had developed late and grown slowly.
Her family often teased her, saying Lydia would catch up to her.
Seeing her puffed up like a little pufferfish, Leonard poked her cheek. "How did you measure that 0.4? With calipers?"
