Chapter 576 Family Election
Sebastian eyed him curiously, "You were only in Snowpeakia for a few days. How'd you pick up so many secrets?"
"Because I'm charming and kind-hearted. Everyone wants to spill their secrets to me. Dad, guess what? Uncle Leonard's gonna have a wife someday, so you don't need to worry about him."
"Wait, are you saying Leonard's got someone he likes?"
Paxon shook his head, "Can't say, I promised to keep it hush-hush."
"Alright, enough about that. How about Dad cuddles you to sleep?"
He pulled Paxon into his arms, and soon, Paxon was fast asleep.
Sebastian looked at the three kids in the room and sighed, "Joyce, we've been through so much, but seeing these three, it feels like everything was worth it, even though you had to endure a lot."
Joyce looked at him tenderly, "Is something up with Bianca?"
"No, just some emotional stuff, but I'll help her out. I won't let her struggle."
Joyce didn't press for details, just nodded and said, "Bianca's title as queen sounds grand, but it comes with a lot of restrictions. She's got so much on her plate. You and Leo need to support her more. Without her, we wouldn't have the happiness we have now."
"I know, don't worry, honey."
A few days later...
Several major projects of the William Family hit snags, and the company's stock value kept dropping.
The shareholders were freaking out.
The problems with these projects were due to mistakes made by the first and third heirs.
Both of them had worked hard to secure these projects, hoping to prove themselves, but ended up failing miserably.
With the election for the next head of the family coming up, all the shareholders turned their attention to the fourth heir, Smith.
Smith's recent projects had been highly profitable, not only avoiding mistakes but also making money for the shareholders.
Plus, he was a prince, which would be great for the family's future.
An elder of the family suggested, "Mr. William is clearly the chosen heir of the family; his abilities are exceptional. He should be elected as the next president."
"I agree, Mr. William's recent performance has been outstanding. There's no reason not to choose him."
With more than half of the shareholders backing Smith, Caspian grew anxious.
He knew that if this fake Smith gained power, he would surely seek revenge.
He couldn't let that happen.
Caspian smirked coldly, "Smith is still young; he needs a few more years of experience. Besides, he just married the queen, and the most important thing is to have a princess for the William Family's future."
Smith looked at Caspian's cunning eyes and sneered, "No need to worry, Dad. I can handle both business and family, no problem."
Hearing this, Caspian slammed the table in anger, "Smith, don't forget who you are."
Smith's smile turned sinister, "Forget my identity? How could I? It's too important to forget. I'm Smith of the William Family, your youngest son, whom you've spoiled since childhood, and the queen's husband. Got any other identities for me?"
Caspian's face turned red with fury, his eyes bloodshot as he glared at Smith, "What exactly do you want?"
Smith smirked, "I don't want to disappoint you after all your years of nurturing. I want to take over the William Family early so you and Mom can enjoy your retirement. With such a filial son, aren't you satisfied? Or do you want me to be as foolish as Emilio and the others?"
"You have no right to speak about them!"
"Why not? They've caused the company to lose billions. Shouldn't we talk about it? Maybe you can explain why I have no right to speak about them."
Caspian felt a surge of anger rising up his spine, almost exploding from his head.
He pointed at Smith, "You ungrateful child, they are your brothers, they carry the William Family blood. You can't slander them like this."
Smith slowly grabbed Caspian's finger and squeezed it hard, "Don't I have the William Family blood too?"
Faced with his relentless pressure, Caspian was at a loss for words.
He couldn't reveal that Smith wasn't really Smith.
If he did, it wouldn't just be him who suffered, but the entire family.
Caspian gripped Smith's hand tightly, forcing himself to suppress his anger.
He gritted his teeth and said, "We'll discuss this later."
He was waiting for his real son, Smith, to wake up, so he could kill this imposter.
Then, he would have no more worries.
Seeing Caspian back down, Smith smiled and said, "Dad, don't forget, your term as president ends this month. If we don't elect a new president now, are you planning to break the family rules and hold onto the position?"
The William Family rules stated that the president must be between thirty and seventy years old and must be a married man.
Caspian had just turned seventy, making him ineligible for re-election.
Hearing this, the other shareholders chimed in, "That's right, Caspian, you can't break the rules. Don't be reluctant to let go. Hand it over to the younger generation, they might bring even greater benefits to the family."
"Smith is young and capable, with the queen's support. He's the perfect candidate. What are you still worried about? Or is there something you're hiding from us?"
"No, I just think he's too young and might ruin the family," Caspian retorted.
"He's already thirty, not that young. Besides, his recent projects have been excellent. Without him, the William Family would be facing an economic crisis."
Caspian couldn't oppose any longer and reluctantly agreed to let Smith take over.
After the meeting, Smith drove back to the palace.
As soon as he got on the highway, he felt something was wrong. The brakes suddenly failed.
At that moment, he saw a black SUV speeding towards him in the rearview mirror.
