Chapter 577 Bianca's Peculiarity

Bianca had been on edge all day. That night, after taking a shower, she lay in bed with her mind racing with troubling thoughts.

She immediately called Smith.

The phone rang for what felt like an eternity, but no one answered. Her anxiety only grew.

Ever since Sebastian had told her the truth, she had been even more worried about Smith's safety.

She called Smith's assistant, who took a long time to pick up.

"Your Majesty, Mr. William is handling an urgent project and is currently in a meeting. He asked me to tell you not to worry about him. He'll be back in a few days."

Hearing this, Bianca didn't ask any more questions.

She responded in a low voice, "Tell him to take care of himself."

"I will. Thank you, Your Majesty."

After hanging up, the assistant glanced towards the direction of the operating room, silently praying: Please, don't let anything happen to you. The Queen is waiting for you to come back.

A few hours later, Smith was finally wheeled out.

The assistant rushed over and asked, "Doctor, how is he?"

"He suffered internal injuries from the car accident. We've completed the surgery, but he needs to stay in the hospital for observation."

"When will he wake up?"

"Probably in about two hours, once the anesthesia wears off. Take good care of him. I'll have someone bring you the care instructions shortly."

Two hours later, Smith slowly opened his eyes.

Seeing the white surroundings, he knew exactly where he was.

He remembered clearly that his car's brakes had failed as he left the company, and he was pursued by two black SUVs.

The cars repeatedly rammed into him, causing his vehicle to lose control and crash off a bridge.

Fortunately, Smith had managed to open the window as the car fell, or he might never have seen Bianca again.

Recalling this, Smith clenched his fist tightly, veins bulging on his forehead.

Seeing him awake, the assistant immediately approached. "Mr. William, how are you feeling?"

"I'm fine. Did they catch the drivers of those cars?" Smith asked hoarsely.

"They did. They were sent by your brother. They wanted you dead. It's a good thing you were smart enough to drive into the river. Otherwise, the consequences would have been unimaginable."

Smith's dark eyes deepened. "If they dared to make a move on me, it means that person is about to wake up. They want to replace me quietly."

Hearing this, the assistant worriedly asked, "Will the Queen be in danger?"

"She's not that naive. She probably already suspects my identity. I just don't know if she'll forgive me when she finds out who I really am."

"What do we do now? If the real Smith wakes up, the William Family will accuse you of fraud. They'll pin everything on you, and you won't be able to defend yourself."

Smith had thought about this long ago. If he let them control him, he might have a chance to live. If not, it would be a dead end.

He would either be assassinated or face legal consequences.

He had no chance to argue his case.

So, he had to seize control of the William Family before that person woke up.

Only then would he have a chance to win.

A few days later, Bianca had just stepped out of the banquet hall when she saw a familiar figure.

Smith, no longer the refined and restrained man she knew, stood at the door in a black jacket.

His deep eyes were filled with suppressed emotions.

Though he hid it well, Bianca noticed his face was pale, like someone recovering from a serious illness.

So, she had been right. He hadn't been away on business; he had been injured.

Thinking about the dangers he faced every day, Bianca felt a sharp pain in her chest.

But she kept her composure, not showing any sign of distress.

When Smith saw her, he immediately walked over and hugged her tightly, kissing her forehead. "Bianca, did you miss me while I was gone?"

Bianca looked up at his affectionate eyes and smiled faintly.

"What do you think?"

Smith chuckled. "So, you did miss me, right?"

Bianca's eyes reddened as she looked at him. "Smith, do you think disappearing is fun? Couldn't you call me if something important came up? Do you know how worried I was?"

Hearing this, Smith immediately softened his tone. "I'm sorry, honey. It was my fault for making you worry. I won't do it again. Please forgive me, okay?"

As he spoke, he kissed Bianca's lips.

Feeling his breath and his soft lips, tears rolled down Bianca's cheeks.

Why was she so foolish?

From the moment she first met Smith, she felt like she was with Edgar.

She didn't reject his closeness; she even craved it.

She thought she was slowly accepting Smith, slowly entering a new relationship.

But when she learned the truth, she realized she had always seen Smith as a stand-in for Edgar.

She wanted to vent her broken feelings for Edgar on him.

The person she loved had always been Edgar.

Knowing all he had done for her, all her past grievances vanished.

Thinking about this, Bianca's tears flowed even more.

Smith was alarmed, seeing her so out of control for the first time.

She had always kept her feelings hidden, never showing vulnerability in front of him.

But now, she cried like a child.

Smith tenderly cupped her face, kissing her tears away. "Bianca, it's all my fault for making you worry. I'm sorry. You can punish me however you want, just please don't cry. It breaks my heart."

Bianca sobbed, hitting his chest lightly, her tear-filled eyes looking at him.

"If you ever do this again, I'll divorce you."

She said the harshest words, but her eyes betrayed her deep concern.

Smith felt both heartache and relief.

He kissed her lips deeply, whispering, "Okay, I won't do it again. Let's go to our room, okay? Let me hold you."

He bent down to pick her up, but she dodged.

She turned and walked towards the bedroom, saying, "I haven't forgiven you yet. You can't hold me."

Watching her throw a little tantrum, Smith felt like he was back in the past.

Back to when Bianca often got mad at him.

She was in her twenties then, with the cuteness and coquettishness of a young girl.

She would cuddle in his arms and say sweet things.

Not the Bianca who later kept everything to herself.

Why had she changed so much?

Had she fully accepted him, or was there another reason?

Smith quickly followed her.

As the bedroom door closed, he pulled Bianca into his arms.

He kissed her eagerly, whispering, "Bianca, I missed you so much."

After days apart, the moment their lips touched, the air was charged with passion.
