Chapter 504 Nothing of Mine
Alexander carried Sophia upstairs, gently placing her on the bed and tucking her in.
Then he got up and started pacing around the room, as if searching for something.
Sophia watched him and asked, "What are you looking for?"
Alexander frowned at her. "Why is there nothing of mine in your house? Not in the apartment, not here. Sophia, are you trying to use my amnesia to completely erase me from your life?"
Sophia couldn't help but chuckle at his words.
"What do you want? A photo together? Or some significant gift? Alexander, if I told you we never took a single photo together and you never gave me a gift, would you believe me?"
Alexander looked at her in disbelief. "How is that possible? Haven't I always liked you? Why wouldn't I give you a decent gift?"
"Maybe I'm not worth it. Besides, when you first woke up, you clearly told me that if I wanted you to take responsibility, you could compensate with money, but if I wanted feelings, it was impossible. You said that, so how could I cling to you?"
Hearing this, Alexander couldn't help but clench his fists.
Was the past him an idiot?
Trying to win over a woman without even giving her a gift?
How did he manage to pursue Sophia, just with his words?
Thinking about this, Alexander couldn't help but grit his teeth.
He looked over at Sophia.
Just then, Manuel called, and Sophia immediately answered.
Manuel's urgent voice came through the phone, "Sophia, I heard from Betsy that you collapsed. What happened?"
"It's nothing, just an infection in my leg causing a high fever. I'm fine now."
"I told you not to work so hard. He forgot about you, but you don't need to push yourself like this. Where are you? I'll come to see you."
"I'm at the villa. No need to come, really, I'm fine."
"I don't feel reassured. Wait for me, I'll be there soon."
After hanging up, Sophia looked up to meet Alexander's cold, piercing gaze.
Alexander was staring at her intensely, his eyes burning as if they could bore a hole through her.
Alexander's voice was cold and deep, "Stay away from Manuel. He doesn't have good intentions."
Sophia looked at him calmly, "That's my business, not yours. You can leave now. Thanks for yesterday. I'll treat you to a meal another day."
With that, Sophia turned her back on Alexander.
Alexander frowned deeply.
Facing Sophia's indifference, he felt a deep sadness.
Seeing another man approach her, he wanted to punch that man out.
He didn't know if this was a lingering instinct from his memories or if he was developing feelings for Sophia again.
Alexander bent down, looking at Sophia with lowered eyes, and said in a deep voice, "You rest first. I'll go check if the noodles are ready."
Sophia didn't respond.
It wasn't until she heard the door close that she angrily threw her phone onto the bed.
Sophia grabbed a pillow and slammed it against the bed.
Facing Alexander, she always felt like she wanted to yell but couldn't, wanted to hit but couldn't.
He had lost his memory, forgetting all their past grievances.
Even if Sophia wanted to get angry at Alexander, she felt powerless.
That feeling made her feel very frustrated.
Just then, there was a knock on the door.
Sophia thought it was Alexander and angrily shouted, "Didn't I tell you to leave? What are you still doing here?"
After saying that, the door opened, revealing Elodie's innocent face.
"Sophia, did Alexander upset you again?"
Sophia was surprised. "Elodie, what are you doing here?"
Elodie smiled and ran over, looking at her with concern, "I heard from Grandpa that you were sick, so I came to see you. Sophia, did Alexander make you sick?"
"No, my wound got infected, causing a fever. I'm fine now."
Elodie's bright eyes darted around, then she asked, "Did Alexander take care of you?"
Sophia didn't hide it, "Yes, Paxon wanted to see me. His parents were busy, so your brother brought him over and happened to see me with a fever."
Elodie smiled, "Sophia, do you think Alexander might be falling for you again?"
"No," Sophia said firmly.
"Then why is he being so nice to you for no reason?"
"Maybe he feels guilty for forgetting me."
"But I don't think so. Since Alexander lost his memory, he's been cold to everyone and everything, except you. He's very attentive to you. I suspect he's interested in you again. Sophia, if Alexander pursues you again, would you accept him?"
Hearing this, Sophia's eyes momentarily glazed over.
She had never considered this possibility, nor did she want to set herself up for such a possibility.
The more possibilities she set up, the more disappointment she would face.
Sophia chuckled lightly, "I don't know, but I probably wouldn't agree to anything as easily as before."
Elodie immediately nodded with a smile, "I support you. If he wants to pursue you, let him work for it. After all, he forgot my beautiful and kind sister-in-law."
Sophia tapped her on the head. "Who's your sister-in-law?"
"That's what I think in my heart. Alexander isn't reliable, but can't I at least fantasize?"
As they were talking, the door opened again.
The butler walked in with a bowl of noodles, smiling, "Ms. Sinclair, try these noodles."
He placed the bowl on the table and handed the utensils to Sophia.
Sophia got out of bed and sat at the table.
She picked up a few strands of noodles and took a bite. After just one bite, she paused.
The butler immediately asked, "What's wrong? Is there a problem?"
"Who made these noodles?"
"Mr. Cross did. Sarah went out to buy groceries, so he helped out. Is it not to your taste?"
Sophia lowered her eyes, "No, it's just a bit different from Sarah's."
These were the noodles Alexander used to make for her.
They had her favorite pepper powder.
The noodles were cut short.
Because Sophia had once said that long noodles were inconvenient to eat.
Since then, Alexander always made short noodles for her.
Why did he forget everything about her but remember how to make these noodles?
Sophia didn't want to delve too deeply into this question because she didn't want to give herself hope only to be disappointed again.
That feeling was unbearable. She had experienced it once and didn't want to go through it again.
The butler took the bowl downstairs and saw that it was empty. Alexander's lips curled into a smile.
"Did she eat it all?"
The butler smiled, "Yes, Ms. Sinclair hasn't eaten so well in a long time. It seems your cooking is still the best."
Alexander responded lightly and was about to go upstairs when he heard Manuel's voice outside the door.
"Is Sophia here?"
