Chapter 567 Disrespecting the Queen
Despite the flickering lights and the crowd, Bianca could see clearly.
It was Edgar.
The man who had left the entertainment industry long ago.
What was he doing here?
Bianca tightened her grip on her wine glass but kept her face emotionless.
She watched the man on stage singing and dancing, causing the crowd to scream.
She turned her gaze to Eva and said in a neutral tone, "Princess Eva, you really went all out."
Eva stared at her, trying to find the reaction she wanted on Bianca's face.
But to her disappointment, Bianca remained calm and composed, showing no signs of distress.
How was that possible?
Could her information be wrong?
Pointing at Edgar on stage, Eva asked, "Your Majesty, do you know this guy? He used to be a big star, not just a great singer but also an award-winning actor. He left the industry for some unknown reason. Got any inside scoop?"
Bianca glanced at her indifferently, "What kind of inside scoop are you looking for?"
Eva smiled, "Like who he was close to or any secret flings he might have had."
Bianca's gaze turned cold, "Do you think I'm a tabloid reporter, Princess Eva?"
"No, I was just asking casually," Eva quickly explained, looking a bit scared.
Bianca chuckled lightly, "Thanks for your concern, but when it comes to acting, you might be better than him."
With that, she turned and walked towards the lounge.
A young servant immediately followed, "Your Majesty, are you going to touch up your makeup?"
"No, I just had a bit too much to drink and need to rest."
"Shall I assist you?"
"Where is the Prince?"
"He's surrounded by heirs from several conglomerates, all old friends of his. If you need him, I can call him."
"No need, I just want to rest alone."
Bianca entered the lounge and leaned back on the sofa, closing her eyes to rest.
She was exhausted from dealing with Smith earlier and meeting so many foreign guests. Her whole body felt light and weak, and she just wanted to lie down and sleep.
But her mind was filled with images of Edgar singing and dancing on stage.
He had appeared once before at a dinner she hosted for the Winters family.
That time, it was clearly Edgar's idea to get close to her.
But this time, she knew without a doubt that Eva had found something out.
So she invited him here, hoping to find her weakness.
The palace intrigue was no less intense than ancient royal courts.
It was even more ruthless.
As the heir to the throne, if it were discovered that she had been with another man and had a child, she knew it would be disastrous for her.
Bianca leaned back on the sofa, her eyes half-closed, when she suddenly felt the door open.
She thought it was the servant bringing her some snacks and didn't pay much attention.
But soon, she felt a shadow slowly approaching.
She opened her eyes abruptly and found herself face-to-face with Edgar's handsome face.
She shuddered, her eyes wide with shock.
The man looked at her with deep affection.
In a gentle voice, he said, "Bianca, I've missed you so much. I snuck in just to see if you're doing well. I left the entertainment industry to take you away with me. I know you're not happy. Come with me, we'll go to a country where no one knows us, and I'll make you happy for the rest of your life."
As he spoke, he moved closer to Bianca.
Terrified, Bianca backed away.
Seeing his face again after so long, she couldn't deny that she felt something.
But Edgar's presence here was no coincidence.
She knew it was part of Eva's scheme. If she admitted knowing Edgar or spoke to him, it would be used against her.
She kicked Edgar in the stomach and coldly said, "Who are you? How dare you break into the Queen's lounge? Are you looking for trouble?"
Edgar's face twisted in pain, "Bianca, it's me, Edgar. Didn't you say you wanted to spend your life with me? I know you don't love Smith. I know you still love me. I can take you away, and no one will find us. Trust me."
He lunged at Bianca, trying to hold her.
Bianca grabbed a vase from the table and smashed it over his head.
She shouted, "I don't know you! If you don't leave, I'll make sure you never leave this palace."
She ran towards the door.
The vase hit Edgar's head, and blood started to flow, but he didn't care. He charged at Bianca again.
Just as he was about to grab her wrist, the door burst open.
When Bianca saw Smith, tears instantly welled up in her eyes.
She threw herself into his arms, looking pitiful, "Smith, this man tried to assault me."
Smith's eyes burned with rage, as if he could incinerate Edgar with his gaze.
He gently stroked Bianca and comforted her, "Don't be afraid. I'm here. No one will hurt you."
He held Bianca close and kicked Edgar hard.
The force of the kick sent Edgar stumbling back several steps, crashing into a pillar.
Edgar looked up at Bianca, "Bianca, do you really love him? Why are you with someone you don't love? Have you forgotten the happy times we had together?"
Hearing this, Smith rushed at him again, punching him in the face.
He kicked Edgar in the stomach repeatedly, making him cough up blood.
Grabbing Edgar by the collar, he snarled, "Who sent you to tarnish the Queen's reputation? If you don't talk, I'll send you to hell right now."
At that moment, Eva entered with several officials.
Seeing the scene, she rushed to Bianca's side, "Your Majesty, I heard a commotion and that someone tried to assault you. Are you alright?"
Bianca looked at her and then at the officials behind her, all former supporters of Christopher.
It was indeed a conspiracy.
She coldly questioned, "Is this the actor you found for me? How could someone like him be allowed into the palace? Did you not check his background, Princess Eva?"
Eva quickly responded, "He said he knew you, so I let him in. Was he lying? Do you really not know him?"
