Chapter 501 Paxon Accuses

Sophia was completely wiped out.

Her leg wound still throbbed with pain.

After delivering a long monologue twenty-seven times, Sophia's voice was shot.

She let out a weak, raspy sound, "Alex, it hurts."

That single word, "hurts," made Alex even more anxious.

He immediately soothed her in a low voice, "I'll get you home to change clothes right away."

With that, Alex carried Sophia towards the rest area.

He called out, "Paxon, come with us."

Paxon quickly ran over on his short legs, his eyes full of concern for Sophia. "Sophia, are you really tired?"

Sophia forced a smile as she looked at his bright eyes, glistening with tears.

"I'm fine, a hot shower will do the trick."

Paxon blinked his big eyes and looked at Alex. "Mr. Cross, you need to get Sophia to a shower quickly, or she'll catch a cold."

"Alright, you follow behind and don't wander off."

There were no showers at the film set, so Sophia just changed into clean clothes and dried her hair before Alex took her home.

Once they got home, Alex noticed that Sophia's cheeks were burning hot.

He placed his hand on her forehead and felt the feverish heat, his eyes darkening.

His voice grew hoarse, "You have a fever."

Sophia lay on the couch, her body aching, but she forced herself to stay alert. "It's okay, I'll take some medicine later. Thanks for today. It's getting late, you should take Paxon home."

Alex's eyes darkened further. "And leave you here alone to burn up?"

"I'm not that fragile. It's just a fever, I won't die."

"Sophia, why do you push yourself so hard? You knew your leg was injured, but you still insisted on filming that scene."

Sophia chuckled softly. "Because I want to make money. I've realized that money is the only good thing. Once you earn it and put it in the bank, it never leaves you. There's nothing more reliable."

Hearing this, Alex felt a sharp pain in his chest.

His fingers curled involuntarily, and he said in a raspy voice, "Is it because of me that you have this realization?"

Sophia smiled. "It's called 'A fall into a ditch makes you wiser.' Now I think making money is better than any man. If I had billions, I could have any man I wanted."

"So you're making money to find a better man?"

"Yeah, with money, men will flock to you, and they look really good."

Alex frowned in anger and grabbed Sophia's ankle.

He rolled up her pant leg and saw the festering wound, gritting his teeth.

"Then heal your wound first, and then go make money and find a man."

Alex instructed Paxon, "Paxon, go get the first aid kit."

Paxon immediately complied, running into the bedroom on his short legs.

He struggled to carry the first aid kit out.

"Mr. Cross, can you be gentle with the medicine? Sophia is really afraid of pain."

Alex glanced at Sophia and said coldly, "If she's afraid of pain, she shouldn't push herself so hard. Serves her right!"

"You can't scold Sophia. It's your fault for forgetting her. She's sad because of you. If you want to scold someone, scold yourself."

Being reprimanded by a three-year-old, Alex's brow twitched.

He found the antiseptic and pain relief ointment in the first aid kit.

Alex looked up at Sophia and said in a deep voice, "This might hurt a bit. Bear with it."

Sophia didn't say anything, just bit her lip hard.

When she felt the cold touch, a sharp pain spread from her thigh throughout her body.

Sophia thought she could endure it, but she couldn't help but gasp.

Seeing her in pain, Paxon immediately hugged her head.

His small hands gently patted her back, soothing her softly, "Don't worry, it'll be over soon. I'm here, I'll protect you."

Hearing Paxon's comforting words, Sophia's pain seemed to lessen.

She smiled and kissed Paxon. "Sweetie, you're such a good little man. My daughter will be lucky to have you."

Paxon nodded confidently. "I'll be good to my wife. Even if I lose my memory, I won't forget her."

Hearing this, Alex paused in his actions.

He glared at Paxon. "Who are you implying?"

Paxon pouted proudly. "I'm not implying anything. I'm openly blaming you. If it weren't for you, Sophia wouldn't push herself so hard. It's all your fault she's like this. I haven't seen her smile happily in a long time."

Alex tapped Paxon's head in frustration. "That mouth of yours, I don't know who you take after."

"Of course, my mom. She's a top lawyer, never loses a case. Did you forget that too?"

"I forgot."

Paxon sighed. "You forgot Sophia, so I can't expect you to remember anything else."

Seeing his disappointed expression, Alex couldn't help but laugh.

But his heart ached.

Even a three-year-old knew about his and Sophia's relationship. Alex wanted to know what their relationship was like before.

Why were they so close, yet never dated?

Was he even a man back then?

Alex finished bandaging the wound and found some fever medicine for Sophia.

He made her take it.

When everything was done, Sophia glanced at Alex, her voice weak. "You should take Paxon home. I have a fever, don't let him catch it."

Alex glared at her. "You know you have a fever and still want to send me away? Aren't you afraid of burning up alone?"

Sophia chuckled. "Alex, I can live without you. I have family. One call and my parents will come to take care of me. I'm not at the point where I need your pity. You can go."

Seeing Sophia's firm stance, Paxon thought for a moment and said, "Sophia, Mr. Cross is a doctor. Let him stay with you. My parents will come to pick me up soon, so he doesn't need to take me."

Sophia smiled and patted his head. "He used to be a doctor, but not anymore. He's forgotten all his medical knowledge."

Paxon widened his eyes in surprise and looked at Alex. "Dad said you loved being a doctor. You forgot that, too? Forgetting the things and people you love most, I pity you for three seconds."

Both Alex and Sophia were amused by his words.

Just then, the doorbell rang.

Paxon immediately climbed off the couch.

He ran to the door, saying, "It's my parents here to pick me up."

Paxon ran to the door on his short legs.

Sebastian and Joyce stood at the door.

Seeing Paxon open the door, Sebastian bent down to pick him up.

He kissed his cheek and asked in a deep voice, "Did you have fun today?"

Paxon shrugged. "It was fun at first, but now I'm not happy because Sophia has a fever."

Hearing this, Joyce immediately went to Sophia's side, concerned. "Sophia, how did you get a fever?"

Sophia quickly stopped her from getting too close.

"Joyce, don't come near. You're pregnant, I don't want you to catch it."

Joyce stood still, looking at Sophia's pale face. "What happened?"

Before Sophia could answer, Alex said in a deep voice, "She has a leg injury and filmed in the rain for four hours. It's a miracle she didn't get infected."

Joyce's eyes reddened, and she scolded, "Why do you push yourself so hard? If you need money, I have it. I can support you. I want you to pursue your career, but not at the cost of your life."
