Chapter 593 Indirect Kiss
Wilhelmina felt incredibly foolish at that moment.
Her cheeks were burning hot.
Whenever she was around someone she liked, her brain always seemed to turn to mush.
She puffed out her cheeks, glaring with her round eyes in a huff, as she tied the apron around Theodore's neck. "My brain's not working right because you hit me."
Hearing her complaint, Theodore suddenly remembered a scene from a few years ago.
Wilhelmina had just graduated from college. She was lively and clever, but she had a sharp tongue and loved to argue with him.
The more he insisted on no sugar in his coffee, the more she added, arguing that life was already bitter enough and needed some sweetness.
She had gradually gotten him into the habit of drinking coffee with sugar.
So, back then, he often liked to tap Wilhelmina on the head.
Wilhelmina would always look at him angrily and say, "Mr. Vale, my brain's already not great, you can't attack it."
Recalling these moments, Theodore's lips curled into a smile. He raised an eyebrow at Wilhelmina. "Should I file a workers' comp claim for you and get some compensation?"
Wilhelmina replied without hesitation, "If you want to give it, I won't say no."
Theodore's lips twitched. "You really think I'm dumb and loaded, huh?"
"You said it, not me."
Wilhelmina picked up a watermelon and started cutting it. Her movements were skillful, and the watermelon pieces looked beautiful.
She arranged them into a flower shape on a children's plate, making it look delightful.
Even Theodore couldn't resist wanting to eat it when he saw the pretty arrangement.
He glanced at Wilhelmina, but she ignored him.
He glanced at her again, but she still ignored him, focused on arranging the pieces.
Theodore couldn't help but say, "Why make it look so nice? It's all going to be eaten anyway."
Wilhelmina finished the last piece and looked at her creation. "It's different. If you're going to eat, why not make it enjoyable?"
She picked up the plate and started to walk out.
Theodore finally couldn't hold back. He frowned and called out, "Wilhelmina."
Wilhelmina turned around, puzzled. "What's up?"
"Isn't it you who's treating me to dinner today?"
"Yeah, what's wrong with that?"
Theodore gritted his teeth at her obliviousness. "Shouldn't I get to taste this fruit?"
Wilhelmina realized her mistake and laughed as she walked over. "Sorry, I remember you didn't like watermelon before."
Theodore didn't know what came over him, but he suddenly felt like a child, pouting. "My tastes have changed, can't they?"
"Oh, then let me feed you."
She picked up a fork, speared a piece of watermelon, and held it out to Theodore. "Eat up, my most esteemed guest. This is the best part of the watermelon."
Theodore lowered his head and ate the watermelon.
The sweet juice filled his mouth instantly.
He had never tasted such sweet watermelon before.
He used to dislike sweet things, but ever since Wilhelmina had been his secretary for half a year, he had grown to like them more and more.
The moment he tasted it, Theodore felt like all his troubles could melt away.
He nodded, impressed. "This watermelon is really sweet and juicy. You should try it."
Wilhelmina, having been busy with the kids and shopping at the market, felt her throat was indeed a bit dry.
Hearing Theodore's suggestion, she didn't hesitate and speared a piece of watermelon to eat.
After one piece, she wanted more.
The two of them continued, taking turns eating the entire plate of watermelon.
Just as they were down to the last piece, Paxon’s voice suddenly came from the doorway.
"Uncle, are you guys indirectly kissing?"
Wilhelmina quickly pulled the fork away from Theodore's mouth, realizing they had been using the same utensil.
She cursed herself inwardly. Why did she always make this mistake? She never distinguished between herself and others. In college, she often shared the same bowl of pasta or the same cup of coffee with her classmates.
Blushing, Wilhelmina quickly pulled her hand back. "Sorry, Kaia and I are used to it. We often eat together like this."
Theodore, who was usually a germaphobe, didn't blame her. Instead, he looked at Paxon and smiled. "We were just using the same utensil."
Paxon blinked his big eyes. "Using the same utensil is like indirectly kissing. Don't you know that? I forgot you're a single man. My Godfather told me that using the same utensil mixes your saliva, which is similar to kissing. So you and Wilhelmina just indirectly kissed. As a man, you should take responsibility for her."
Hearing this, Kaia popped her little head out, curious. "Paxon, how should he take responsibility?"
Paxon explained seriously, "The best way for a man to take responsibility for a woman is to marry her. That's how he takes responsibility."
Kaia looked at him, half understanding. "Isn't making him take responsibility kind of cheating?"
Paxon knocked Kaia on the head. "You little dummy, he just indirectly kissed your mom. Why can't he take responsibility?"
Kaia pouted, looking at Theodore with big eyes. "But, but Mom said Theodore has someone he likes. We can't ruin his happiness."
Hearing the kids' conversation, Wilhelmina's face turned even redder.
She stood there, stunned, not knowing how to explain.
Theodore walked over, lightly kicked Paxon on the butt, and laughed. "Where did you learn this nonsense? If your mom argued like you, she'd have been complaining about long ago."
Paxon looked up and said, "Theodore, I'm trying to help you get a wife. Can't you see that? No wonder you're still single. You're so clueless."
Theodore laughed in exasperation. "Who taught you these twisted ideas?"
"I read them in books."
Hearing this, Theodore playfully bit Paxon’s cheek and laughed. "You little rascal, you're as annoying as your dad."
Paxon shrugged. "I take after my dad. It's called genetic inheritance. Too bad you don't have kids, so you can't pass on your genes."
"Paxon, looks like I need to teach you a lesson today."
