Back to Where She Belongs
Cleopatra’s POV
I know that I am strong and have trained countless times with the strongest warriors in our pack but that did not stop the fear that gripped me when I was kidnapped during the meeting of the Alphas by the vampires.
Different scenarios played in my head. What if they turn me into one of them? What if I never get to escape? I won’t ever see Alpha Williams? I slapped myself hard across the face when the thought crossed my mind.
The action made the vampire carrying me lose balance and I fell, hitting my head hard on a tree trunk. I had a blackout, and as I fell into unconsciousness, the last thing I heard was a faint concerned voice, whispering Shadow.
When I peered my eyes open I was in a neatly arranged room. It had a familiar scent but I’ve never been here before. My senses were alert as I cautiously got up and went to the window.
The sight below took my breath away. I’ve dreamt about this place so many times and all the while, it was real?
The figures below even knocked more breath out of my chest. Vampires and our kind living together like we are not enemies? Were they kidnapped like me? Hypnotized to remain against their will?
Just then the door knob rattled and I sprinted to stand behind the door so I could attack whoever or whatever that walked in.
A little girl’s head peered inside and I watched her skip to the bed. Her eyes widened in horror and she bent down to check under the bed. I used that opportunity to leave the room quietly.
How will I make it out of here alive? I don’t want to be forced to be mated to some vampire and live here for the rest of my life.
I have to see Alpha Williams again so I can finish him off for killing Alex. That is the only reason, it’s not because I want to be in his arms.
Before I could take ten steps away from the door, the little girl was in front of me. How did she…? She bent her head to the side and looked at me quizzically.
“Where are you going? Do you wanna play? She asked creepily. This looks like a scene straight out of a movie. A horror movie. I stepped back and looked at her.
“I don’t hurt kids, so move out of my way,” I growled, baring my teeth. I can’t believe I’m threatening a child. The great Cleopatra. My claws were already extended, just in case she tries anything funny.
Just then her reply shocked me. “Ok,” she replied cheerfully and skipped away.
Okay. Speak of strange and weird at the same time. I continued moving further away, trying to be discreet about it. I managed to make it downstairs and there was a huge sitting room. A lot of people were seated, their eyes fixed on the TV in front.
Maybe I could skip past and they won’t notice? Just then all the eyes in the room turned to my direction. All at once.
“What the creepy fuck,” I muttered to myself. Should I run for it or fight? I mean, I could fight but I’m pretty sure that I can’t win against all these people here.
“Hey,” a voice said from behind, causing me to jump up in surprise.
“What the fuck!” I yelled as I turned and saw that same little girl. What is wrong with all these people?
“Do you want to play with me?” She asked but this time, it was less creepy than the last one. Maybe I could agree and trick her to show me a way out of here?
She started chuckling while staring at me. Ok, am I in some site where they are shooting a horror movie, what in the actual fuck is going on here?!
The people in the big sitting room were still staring at me. “Don’t be silly,” the little girl said, “you can’t trick me,” she replied.
“How are you so sure that…,” wait a minute, I paused and thought for a second. I never said it out loud. Does it mean they can hear my thoughts?
I was told that our kind used to be able to hear thoughts, especially if you don’t block yours but one day, it was gone, like we never had it in the first place. It was as if the moon goddess decided to punish us by taking away that ability.
If that’s the case, then I’m literally naked in front of all these people?!!
“You’re not naked, you have some clothes on,” the girl replied softly and linked her hands with mine. I forcefully pulled my hands away and stared at all of them in horror.
Where the actual fuck am I?! Why is everyone creepy? I felt lightheaded and it seemed like the room was spinning. My head ached and I couldn’t hold myself up any longer.
Just then, a man who looked slightly older than me, rushed forward and held me. Wait, am I dreaming? Why does he look so fucking hot! Stop it Cleopatra! They can hear you.
He smiled. The moon goddess needs to help me because that smile is crazy! What is wrong with me?!
The whole room echoed with laughter and I covered my face in embarrassment.
“Time to get you to the leader,” he said and carried me up, bridal style.
“But I want to play with her,” the little girl protested, pouting her lips.
“Stop it Blakey, can’t you see that you scared the shit out of her already?” He said to her sternly and she hung her head low.
“Sorry, I only wanted to play with her,” she replied sadly and ran upstairs.
He carried me out of the huge house and as we left, the eyes of all the people in the living room were still glued to me. What is their problem? Talk about being creepy. They could all win an Oscar for acting in a horror movie.
“They are not being creepy,” the hot guy carrying me said quietly. “And they don’t mean to stare that way,” he added.
“Like that could change anything. How will you explain their creepy stares? I asked, my voice low and raspy. Why am I out of breath? I’m not even walking?
“Because they are glad to see their Alpha after a long time. They just don’t know how to act or feel about it,” he whispered with a soft smile.
“Oh, your Alpha has been missing?” I asked curiously.
“Yes. And you just returned to us, Alpha Shadow,” he said and put me down in front of a door, bowing slightly to me.
Shadow? Me? An Alpha?!
