"Sleep now, Cleopatra"
Cleopatra's POV
I couldn't believe what I was doing. More still, I couldn't believe what I was seeing. Alpha Kane, was backing away from me. Genuine fear was etched on his face.
It was a sight I've never seen.
A surge of power coursed through me and I tried to control it but couldn't. It was as if the darkness I felt while at the Stone Heart Pack was building up within me again.
My wolf felt challenged like she would tear Alpha Kane down if he challenged us again.
She took over as I felt my eyes changing color. I wasn't in control anymore. How is this even happening? It felt like I was out of my body, observing the scene from a corner.
“You think you can intimidate me, Alpha?” My wolf sneered, with a cold and menacing voice.
“Think again.”
No. No. No. We shouldn't talk to Alpha Kane like this. I tried to gain back control but it was as if I was bound to a spot.
I hope he notices that this is not my doing.
My wolf pushed us closer to him. I could feel the power emanating from me, a force that was both terrifying and exhilarating. Alpha Kane was no longer the predator; my wolf is now the hunter.
“How dare you, Cleopatra,” he growled, his voice trembling slightly.
My wolf laughed, a cold, mirthless sound that echoed in the office. “You want to find out?” She taunted.
I couldn't take it anymore, I forced my hands and slapped myself hard across the face. “Stop it!” I screamed.
He looked at me, a glint of realization in his eyes.
Thank God he had figured out what was going on.
My wolf pushed me further back and reached out to grab his collar. I felt a surge of energy, a kind of connection to something powerful and dark. At that moment, it felt like I wasn't dealing with just one wolf but two.
Is that even possible?
Just as my wolf was about to sink its fangs into Alpha Kane's neck, a surge of energy coursed through me. It felt like the darkness within me was being pulled back by something else inside, like a force was trying to cleanse me.
Pain erupted in my head, a blinding, excruciating agony that made me scream. I let go of my grip on Alpha Kane's collar and fell to the ground, clutching my head as the pain intensified.
I lay on the floor, panting and drenched in sweat. My body ached, and my head throbbed mercilessly. I slowly opened my eyes, my vision blurry.
Alpha Kane stood over me, his expression a mix of shock and fear. But there was something else in his eyes, something I couldn't quite decipher.
Something that looked like realization? Does he know what's happening to me?
I tried to sit up, but my body refused to cooperate. I felt weak like I just came back from a wrestling match. My eyelids feel heavy as a wave of nausea washed over me.
I slowly welcomed the darkness as I fell unconscious, the last thing I saw being a chilly smirk on Alpha Kane's face.

I had that same dream again. Why am I back here? I wondered as I stood at the entrance of the nightmarish cell.
Slowly, I made my way into the building and found myself standing in front of that same cell I saw the previous time. But this time I could make out the faces of the prisoners clearly.
I tried going in but it felt like there was an unseen barrier keeping me away. Just then, some of our pack warriors entered. They are like secret agents, mostly feared among all the warriors, trained specially to do Alpha Kane's biddings.
Why are they here? I watched in horror as they dragged one of the men to an empty cell next to the previous one and followed them.
The stench that came from that room almost had me throwing up. There were dead bodies scattered everywhere. The man pleaded but they didn't even spare him a glance.
They were trained to be heartless. To only obey Alpha Kane's command which meant that he ordered this?
One took out a knife, while the other held the man down.
“Hey! Leave him alone,” I screamed, trying to release the man but my hands went through them without grasping anything.
And just like that, they slit the man's throat. His blood splattered against the already soiled floor. The man's body slumped to the ground, lifeless.
My heart pounded in my chest, a mix of horror and disbelief. I wanted to scream, to defend the other prisoners, but I couldn't. I'm only but a silent witness to this horrific act.
Fear and anger gripped me. How can something so horrible like this be going on in our pack? I know that Alpha Kane might seem like a difficult person sometimes, but he would never do this.
This is exactly one of the things he told me Alpha Williams does!
I shut my eyes, willing myself to wake up. This can't be happening in our pack. A familiar figure came into view from the corner of my eyes. I peered down, trying to make out the face clearly.
My heart froze when I saw Alex, perched at a corner, a confused and broken expression on his face. His eyes met mine and for a brief second, I thought he saw me.
“Alex! Alex!” I screamed but there was no response from him. Why is Alex here? Could this be a vision telling me he is being held captive somewhere that looks similar to our pack?
I refuse to accept that this horrible place is within our pack territory. I'll find Alex, no matter what it takes.
I could feel myself waking up, and was suddenly aware of the presence of someone close to me.
“She doesn't need to find out. Just get it done while..,” the voice trailed off as I peered my eyes open, the bright ray of the sun causing me to snap them back shut.
Whose voice was that? And what are they trying to hide from me?
I peered my eyes back open, and carefully looked over to where the hushed tones were coming from, that was when I saw it. The unmistakable tattoo on the arm of the kidnapper who took Alex!
They must have noticed that I was awake, as hurried steps came over to where I was and clamped my mouth shut. I felt a sharp sting of a needle piercing my skin. Darkness crept in again as the world began to fade.
Before the darkness completely consumed me, I saw a figure of a man standing over me, his face shrouded in shadow.
A chilling smile curved his lips as he whispered, “Sleep now, Cleopatra.”
