Claws and Fangs
Kane's POV
This is the day I've been waiting for. I don't care how many people die this afternoon, as long as the two most important people on my list die.
Willaims and the Alpha King.
Apparently, we all had to wear black tuxedos for the meeting, something about not showing our primal natures by dressing anyhow we wanted? It just didn't make sense and I'm glad his hours are already numbered.
I checked in with Dylan to make sure his people are prepared for the cue I'll be sending so they can let the rogues in secretly. Everything is set.
A devilish smile spread across my face when I thought about the chaos and how shocked they will all be.
When I heard the Alpha King's announcement, anger and fury boiled inside me. How on earth did Cleopatra let such big information pass her? If only she found the book, I would have objected to this appointment.
I stared at her angrily. How could she not notice when he sneaked out for the secret appointment? What was she doing?
No! They can't mess with my plan. I'll kill both uncle and nephew, I don't care if I have to be the Alpha King myself.
I watched angrily, my fists clenched under the table as Williams walked to the Alpha King. Just then, a blood curdling scream rang out and I stared up at Alpha Dylan.
I didn't give any signals yet. Why are they attacking now? Well, it doesn't matter when they attack, as long as the chaos is unleashed.
My eyes widened in shock at the figures that burst through the door. Those were not rogues. These are not my allies.
This chaos is much bigger than the one I planned.
“What the hell?” I muttered to myself as I stared at the eerie red eyes and pale skin figures that loomed by the doorway. Their stares alone reeked of destruction.
Vampires. Mortal enemies of our kind. How are they here? We've been told stories while growing up how they were all wiped out and the remaining locked up, never to be seen again.
Now here we are, face to face with these creatures of the night that our ancestors wiped out. The sunlight seeping through the windows caused a shiver to run down my spine.
Why are they not afraid of the sunlight? Why are they not hiding from it?
Just then, they attacked. Their eyes seemed to glow brighter as they approached, their fangs bared in a feral grin.
My mind raced. How could this have happened? I had planned everything so meticulously. The rogues were supposed to be my secret weapon, not these bloodthirsty monsters.
I looked around for Cleopatra and saw Williams standing in front of her protectively. She needs to come with me. She could be my ticket out of this.
The lights flickered off as the fight intensified.
Maybe, just maybe, I could kill Williams and no one will have to know. They could all blame the attack. It was a war of werewolves and Vampires as claws and fangs clashed fiercely.
No one saw this coming. Or did they? I thought as a battle cry rang out. The realm warriors. How could they have known to come here? Someone must have put this in place just in case something like this happened, which meant my plan would have been ruined.
The realm warriors were formidable.
I had to act fast. Get to Cleopatra and get out of here. What if she goes wild and everyone here starts getting suspicious about how she could be so powerful?
But just then, a powerful force knocked me to the ground. I looked up to see a vampire standing over me, his red eyes glowing in the darkness. He raised his hands, his claws extended but I lunged back with a growl and faced him squarely.
The smell of blood was thick in the air, and the sound of breaking bones was almost deafening. I struck the vampire with a force and he flew to the wall.
I moved through the hall carefully, dodging the fight. I finally spotted Cleopatra fighting off vampires while standing behind Williams.
Why is she standing like she’s watching his back when she could have just struck him dead?
“Cleopatra, we have to leave now!” I yelled into her ears as I got closer and Williams grabbed her hands possessively while still fighting.
“Protect the Alpha King!” A voice screamed from the doorway as more of our warriors barged in. The vampires were too fast, with their inhuman speed but we are equally strong.
“What makes you think I would let her blindly follow you when we are in the middle of a battle?” I heard Williams scream back at me, without looking at my direction.
“She is a member of my pack and I order her to come with me,” I retorted, kicking off the vampire that flew to my side.
“She is mine,” he growled, staring right into my eyes. That did the trick because soon enough we were at each other's throat. Fighting and growling that Cleopatra was soon forgotten.
A vampire lunged at us and threw us apart. My head came in contact with a hard surface and I winced in pain. I steadied my spinning head and got up, trying to adjust my vision to the darkness.
Now how do I find Cleopatra again? Fuck!
I pushed through the crowd, searching for her one more time. I can't risk her exposing her strength here. The Alpha king might want to investigate further and that would ruin everything!
The battle was intensifying, the screams and growls growing louder. Suddenly, a deafening shriek echoed through the hall and I put my hands over my ears to shut it out.
The vampires seemed to freeze and within a blink of an eye, they were gone. Almost like a wind blew them all away.
Why did they retreat? A dead silence fell over the room, the only sound, the ragged breathing of the people present. The lights flickered back on, revealing the destruction. Our members lay wounded, blood stained the tiled walls and floor.
But strangely, no one was killed. A thought shot through me and I looked around immediately, my eyes meeting those of Williams. The same thought on my mind must have crossed his as he turned around frantically.
“Where the hell is Cleopatra?!” I growled furiously.
