Who is Theo?
Williams's question hung heavy in the air.
The silence was broken by murmurings and whispers as the pack members exchanged confused glances.
Cleopatra's breath hitched in her throat. A flicker of confusion and fear crossed her features. She fidgeted a bit, scanning the faces of the pack members.
“What do you mean by that?” she asked in a voice that could be barely heard above the noise that had erupted.
“Silence!!” Williams growled. He stared directly into Cleopatra's eyes but she did not flinch. She met his gaze squarely.
“I'm going to ask again, dearest and think carefully before you answer. Who killed the spy?” he asked, his voice coming out in a deep rumble.
“What are you talking about? We were together, remember? How would I know who killed him?” she retorted, confusion still laced in her voice.
The room caved in with more deadly silence as Cleopatra scanned the room one more time.
Her eyes finally landed on Williams again and she shook her head with a crazy laugh.
“I don't know what you're talking about, Alpha Williams. How do you expect me to know something I don't?”
Cleopatra felt the eyes of everyone on her. It felt like they were carving holes in her body, digging for something she doesn't have.
“I don't want to be a part of whatever sick game you all are playing at,” she yelled and stormed towards the door.
Alpha Williams raced after her and grabbed her arm, yanking her towards him, holding her firm as she struggled to get out of his hold.
“Leave me the fuck alone you psycho!” But as the last word left her lips, a surge of energy ripped through her. It began as a tingle in her fingertips then intensified, spreading like wildfire through her whole body. Her vision blurred, the room wrapping and twisting around her.
Then, a searing flash.
Cleopatra gasped, a jolt rocking her body. She looked around and found out that she was no longer at the arena but inside the holding cell with the spy.
The air hung heavy with the metallic smell of blood and rust. Confused, she spun around and started making her way towards the spy.
Suddenly, a cloaked figure emerged from the shadows, a silver dagger clutched in its hands. It whispered something to the man and then dragged him, kicking and wailing out of the cell.
Cleopatra ran after them, trying to rescue the spy but they couldn't see or hear her. She watched as the figure lunged at the spy stabbing him continuously amidst laughing like a maniac.
She stood in horror as the figure whose face was hidden by a cloak of darkness stared at the body on the ground like it was his art.
As if not satisfied with the damage, he proceeded to strangle the man, twisting his neck in the opposite direction.
He finally got up, satisfied with his messy work. He then pushed the body down the stairs. Cleopatra ran downstairs, trying to catch a glance of who this person was.
The figure crouched down, writing something with his bare hands in the dead man's pool of blood. Cleopatra stood directly opposite him, trying to make out his features.
As the figure got up, Cleopatra froze in shock. Her mouth fell wide open as she stared at Theo in shock! The chilling smirk playing on his lips made her insides churn.
Just then, the vision flickered then dissolved completely. Cleopatra found herself back in the Arena, the echo of her gasp broke the heavy silence in the room.
Her eyes flew to Williams, a mix of terror and dawning realization etched on her face but she couldn't bring herself to say what she just saw. Would saying it jeopardize her mission? Will she be disobeying her Alpha by giving Theo’s name off?
The look on Williams's face told her that he knew she had found out the identity of the murderer.
“Who was it?” he growled, his voice cold with venom.
Everyone in the room held their breath, waiting for Cleopatra to unleash the truth.
Her vision blurred and she staggered.
“She has not fully awakened,” the pack doctor whispered to Williams, “Something must have triggered her, don't force her or there might be consequences.”
Williams looked down at Cleopatra and noticed the way she wheezed out shallow breaths. She shivered, and hugged herself tightly.
“Maybe she is protecting whoever it is. Maybe it's someone from her pack!” Renee yelled from across the Arena.
Cleopatra looked around, her eyes caught those of Theo’s and the chilling smirk was still playing on his lips. “Bastard,” she wheezed out, trying to catch her breath.
“What did you say?” Williams asked eagerly, bending closer to hear her clearly.
Cleopatra didn't care anymore at this point. For all she knew, Theo isn't who he claimed to be. The way he brutally murdered the man in her vision sent chills all over her body.
Why didn't he kill her when she was in his care? She owes him for saving her but who is she really saving? A monster or a mere human?
She flashed another glance around and her eyes landed on Theo’s. His twisted smile tugged at her conscience. He gave her a look that read ‘We are on the same side, remember?’
Did her Alpha put him up to this? She wondered. But he couldn't have. The spy doesn't even know who he was working for. Would it be so wrong if she uses this opportunity to take Renee out of the picture for good?
Her feet gave way and she almost fell but Williams caught her in his arms and lifted her up bridal style.
Damn what her Alpha would think. She could just lie and say someone else caught him.
The need to wipe off the smirk on his face overpowered her. She lifted her hands, the tension in the room heightened.
Just as they were about to land on Theo, someone emerged from the crowd, his head hung low and his gaze fixed to the ground.
“It.. It was me. I killed him,” he stammered.
