The Resolution
Five Years Later
Sunlight spilled through the window, casting a warm glow over the room. Cleopatra stood silently, her gaze fixed on the small figure bouncing on the living room rug. Her son, Jayden, giggled as he played, his intense blue eyes—so much like hers—shining with pure joy.
Every movement, every expression, brought back memories of that fateful night, a night that stole something from her but also gave her everything.
Her heart swelled with love and pride. Jayden had inherited more than just her eyes; he held her powers within him. Even at five, his strength and instincts were remarkable. She could see the light within him, the same light that had once saved Williams.
The past rushed back, unbidden. The battlefield, the chaos, the moment Williams lay dying in her arms. Tears she had vowed never to shed pricked her eyes. She remembered the pain, the rage, and the fury that erupted from her, her powers manifesting in ways she had never imagined. How she had fought to save him, pouring every ounce of light into his body. How Lucien had joined her, his hands over hers, their combined strength pulling Williams back from the brink.
The memory of that night is bittersweet. She had lost her powers, her vibrant white hair fading to its natural blonde as though the light within her had been extinguished. It had left her hollow, cold—a part of her gone forever. But it was a sacrifice she would make again, over and over, for him.
The realm had been restored. Clans united, packs rebuilt, and the darkness that once threatened their world had been destroyed.
Beta Jack now led the Silverfang pack, alongside Martha, the woman Kane had imprisoned. He had taken her child, Kane’s child, as his own, a symbol of redemption and hope.
Kane’s reign of terror had ended at Cleopatra’s hands, and the realm had found peace.
She left the White Wolf pack in the capable hands of Lucien and Rob, only visiting when her presence is unavoidably needed.
“Mama, can I go outside?” Jayden asked sweetly. She tousled his dark blonde hair that looked just like his father’s and gave him a little nudge.
“Be careful!” She called after him as he sprinted towards the pack house.
Cleopatra sighed in content as she watched her son go, her heart swelling with pride.
Just then, strong arms snaked around her waist, pulling her from her thoughts. She collided with Williams’ broad chest, a mischievous growl rumbling in her ear.
Cleopatra leaned into Williams' arms, the weight of their past now a distant memory. Love had brought them through the darkness, and in each other, they had found light.
“What are you doing staring at our pup?” Williams’ voice was deep, rough, and filled with the promise of things to come. “I have needs only you can fulfill, and I can’t wait anymore.”
A hearty laugh escaped her lips as she turned to face him, her hands framing his face. And as their laughter filled the halls of their home, Cleopatra knew one thing for certain—this was the life she had fought for. And it was worth every battle.
Her smile softened as she traced the scar on Williams’ chest, the place where the poisoned arrow had struck. He noticed her wince and caught her hand, pressing a tender kiss on her palm.
“I’m here,” he whispered. “You saved me, my love. Three times actually,” he added with a soft chuckle.
“Does this mean I’m your superwoman, my king?” Cleopatra giggled lightly, crossing her hands over his neck.
“You can be anything you want darling, as long as you are mine,” Williams whispered into her ears.
For a brief moment, there were no sounds. Everything else faded into the background as they both stared at each other lovingly, their stares promising more than spoken words.
“I’d rather die than let you go,” she replied fiercely, tears glistening in her eyes.
He cupped her cheek, his gaze softening. “I’m about to die right now if you don’t take care of me,” he teased, his voice dropping to a growl. “I’m going crazy.”
She laughed as he scooped her into his arms, lifting her effortlessly. Just as they were about to head to their room, Renee walked in, her round belly leading the way.
“Did I just interrupt something?” Renee grinned, exchanging a knowing glance with Cleopatra.
“Always,” Williams muttered, feigning annoyance as he set Cleopatra down gently.
“Everything’s handled,” Renee announced. “The last of the rogue clans are no more. Oh, and for the hotel, the workers have started the remodeling just as you instructed.”
Cleopatra smiled. “You should be resting, Renee. I told you to take some time off.”
Renee waved her off with a laugh. “Alex is waiting. We’re catching a movie.” With a wink, she disappeared out the door.
Cleopatra turned to Williams, a playful glint in her eyes. “We should join them. Maybe a double movie date?”
Williams’ eyes darkened with mischief. “No,” he smirked, his voice dropping to a husky growl as he lifted her up. “I have a better idea. Let’s go make a movie.”
As he carried her upstairs, the past faded away, leaving only the present—their love, their family, and the promise of forever.
