A crimson Bath

Williams’ POV

It felt like my world was shattered into a million pieces. She just pissed on my ego and continued to step over it.

Is she this type of woman? The one that is driven by lust? I cautioned myself. How can I judge her when I too, am driven by my lust for her.

My wolf howled within. Anger, a burning fire, surged through me. I shouldn’t feel betrayed when we are both satisfying each other’s desires right?

I watched them from a distance, a cold determination settling over me. I need to know what’s going on. But as I moved closer, a flicker of doubt ignited within me as their posture came into view. This could be just a misunderstanding and I got all rattled up!

Their hushed whispers reached my ears. I strained to hear them as I matched closer and closer.

“I told you, it’s almost out,” Alex said, his voice filled with a mixture of playfulness and excitement.

Cleopatra laughed, a sound that sent shivers down my spine. Come to think of it, I’ve never heard her laugh. Like really laughed. Not the crazy ones but a genuine one. Like this one. It was carefree, different from the flirtatious ones she always used on me.

It sent a pang of guilt down my throat. What do I even know about Cleopatra other than her mysterious origin and power?

“You’re a lifesaver, Alex,” she replied, her voice soft and natural.

The world seemed to slow down as I saw her lean into him. I breathed out loud when she just pecked him on the cheek. She jerked up as soon as she noticed my presence and put a distance between them.

“Sorry, I didn’t hear you. Do you need my help?” She asked with an expression different from the one I just saw on her face a few seconds ago.

“I was on my way to my office,” I replied curtly and moved past them.

I heard her giggle as he said something else to her. She looks at peace and her most natural self with him. Although it broke my heart a bit, I welcomed it. I can’t be possessive with her when she’s not mine and will never be.

But still, I felt a sense of loss as I walked away. I made a vow. I won’t let her get to me this way again.

I stormed into my office, the door slamming shut behind me. Renee had mentioned the mayor. Where is he? I needed a distraction, a way to escape Cleopatra for good.

The office was dimly lit, the only source of light coming from the large window overlooking the city. I moved towards my desk, my gaze fixed on the empty chair opposite mine.

Just then, there was a rapt knock on the door. The mayor's assistant, a curvy blonde haired lady with an insatiable appetite for attention came in.

I mentally rolled my eyes. If I had known it was her coming and not the mayor, I would have put Renee up to this task.

I had always found her advances repulsive from the very first day we met at the mayor's office, but now, in my state of mind, she appeared like a welcomed distraction.

“Good day Mr Williams,” she drawled, winking at me, “So I have the papers for you to sign,” she said, walking up to me, and leaning in such a manner that her breasts were pressed against my shoulder.

I ignored her at first, bending forward to review the documents and going over the terms carefully, all the while she was still leaning on me. I signed the documents and handed it over to her, ignoring her advances.

Within minutes, her hand was already on my thigh, her eyes filled with a predatory gleam as she crossed her legs to sit on my lap.

I let her continue, her touch distracting and numbing the ache in my heart. As she leaned in for a kiss, the door swung open. Cleopatra stood on the doorway, her eyes wide with shock as she saw us.

Maybe this is the right time to put things back in order, I thought. I ignored the look on her face and stroked the lady's thighs, although I found it very uncomfortable.

“You don't know how to knock?” I asked, staring right into her eyes. I cupped the lady's face and brought her lips to mine. My eyes were still glued to Cleopatra as the lady moaned, grabbing my hair in a way I found very upsetting.

She turned and left immediately, leaving the door open. As soon as she left, I pushed the mayor's assistant away. “Get out of my office and don't try this next time,” I growled.

She hissed and left angrily, banging the door shut on her way out. At least now, Cleopatra would know that I can have any woman I want. I felt better about the display, smiling mischievously when I remembered the shock in her eyes.

It was time to go back and Cleopatra was nowhere to be found. I called several times but there was no response.

“We should go. She will find her way back whenever she decides to join us,” Renee suggested and we got in to leave.

Somewhere in the back of my head, I knew she was with that human I saw her with earlier but why is she not picking up her call?

The drive back was filled with an eerie silence. The issue with Cleopatra faded into the background as the urge to tackle the matter of the wolf hunters came to the forefront. I had to focus on the task at hand, to protect my pack from the impending threat.

We already picked a date and time to invade their camp before they attack.

As we pulled into the pack territory, I retreated to my room. A long, hot bath was the only thing that could soothe my weary body and mind.

I took my clothes off and walked towards the bathroom. Just as I opened the door, my breath caught in my throat. Laying inside the bathtub was Cleopatra. She was submerged in the water, which is red as crimson, her head bent at an odd angle.

A cold dread washed over me as I realized something was terribly wrong!
