The storm within

Cleopatra's POV (cont.)

I snuggled closer to the warmth of Alpha Williams’ embrace as we lay in bed, my heart pounding with satisfaction.

Just as I was about to doze off, a sharp pain shot through my stomach. It was as if someone was drilling holes into my stomach. I gasped, my body stiffening.

Alpha Willaims immediately pulled away, his face etched with concern. “What's wrong?” he asked, his voice filled with alarm.

I clutched my stomach, my vision blurring. A wave of nausea washed over me. “I don't know,” I managed to whisper, my voice barely audible. “My stomach..hurts.”

Suddenly, a cold sweat broke out over my body. I felt a strange sensation, as if something was awakening within me. A dark primal force was stirring, and I couldn't control it.

Fear gripped me as I realized what could be happening. The transformation was beginning. How can I be transforming without my control? What is happening to me? Just a few days ago my wolf was unresponsive, so what is happening now?

Panic surged through me as the pain intensified. It felt like my body was being torn apart from the inside. I clutched at Williams with one hand, my nails digging deep into his arm. He held me tightly, his face pale with worry.

“Cleopatra, what’s happening? Is It what you ate?” he asked, his voice trembling slightly.

I couldn't answer. My focus was entirely on the excruciating pain. It was as if something was clawing its way out of me. I could feel a strange energy coursing through my veins, a power I had never experienced before.

A low growl escaped my lips. Fear turned into terror as I realized I was losing more and more control of my senses. My body was changing from the inside.

What was happening? I could hear Alpha Williams' panicked voice but it sounded like he was miles away from me, like a muffled echo. I heard him barking orders into the phone, for the pack doctor to get here as soon as possible.

I felt my body convulsing, as it tried to accommodate the changes taking place within. I was losing consciousness, the darkness claiming me. One last thought pierced through the haze as I slipped into darkness.

I was afraid. Terribly afraid of what was happening to me. I need Alpha Kane to send the vial he gave me the last time.

“Call…call Alpha Kane,” I whispered before succumbing to darkness.

Williams’ POV

I watched in horror as Cleopatra's body contorted, her once smooth skin turning a sickly pale. Her breathing was ragged, and her blue eyes, usually filled with a captivating spark, were now clouded and distant.

I could feel the heat radiating from her body, an unnatural warmth that was almost terrifying.

Panic surged through me as I realized this wasn't a simple case of stomach pain. Something far more sinister was happening to her. What if it has something to do with the silver bullet she took for me?

If I remember correctly, my pack doctor said that removing it will put her at risk. I've always wondered how she's still going about her daily activities despite the bullet still buried inside of her.

Should I call her Alpha like she asked? No! This happened in my pack and I'll handle it myself.

My mind raced as I tried to think of what to do. I grabbed my phone and dialed the pack doctor, my voice hoarse and urgent over the pounding in my ears.

“Eugene, you need to come to the east wing now! Cleopatra is…she's changing. Something is happening to her. You need to get her fast!”

“I'm on my way,” he replied and I could hear him moving his chair to get up. “Make her lie facedown.”

I hung up and turned back to Cleopatra. She was whimpering now, her hands clawing at the sheets even while unconscious. I held her and moved her so she could lie facedown. She shivered and I felt goosebumps spread all over her skin.

“Why is Eugene not here yet?” I muttered. I held her tightly, squeezing her hands from time to time to offer some kind of comfort. Her whimpers grew into low, dangerous sounds, and I could feel her temperature rising rapidly.

The minutes felt like hours. Where was Eugene? I glanced at my wrist watch nervously. How long does it take to reach here from the infirmary? It felt like an eternity had passed, yet it couldn't have been more than a few minutes.

There was a sudden knock and the door burst open. Eugene rushed in, followed by two other pack members that assisted him.

“What's happening?” Eugene demanded, his voice filled with urgency as he assessed Cleopatra's condition.

“I don't know,” I replied, my voice a bit shaky. “It started suddenly and then…” I trailed off, unable to find the words. “But I have a strong feeling it has something to do with the silver bullet.”

Eugene's eyes widened. He moved quickly, examining her closely. I stood up and moved away from them. His hands hovered over her, and he muttered something under his breath. His assistants started unpacking the medicine box they came in with.

“She's changing rapidly,” Eugene said, his voice low and urgent. “The silver wolf is trying to dominate and the black one is weak. We can't let one rule over the other, Alpha. Did you give her the vial?” he asked, staring directly at me.

I ran a hand through my head in frustration. “She is very stubborn, that I can tell you. She threw it away.”

“We need to sedate the silver wolf. This is not a normal transformation. It shouldn't happen this way,” he said urgently.

As the assistants moved to retrain her, Cleopatra let out a loud scream. Her body convulsed violently, and her eyes snapped open, glowing an eerie green. She broke free from their hold and lunged at Eugene.

I quickly caught her and pinned her to the bed while she growled in anger. I could see the fear in Eugene's eyes as he realized the gravity of the situation.

“I don't think I can hold her down any longer. Hurry!” I barked at Eugene as he stood motionless.

He came closer and injected her. She let out a blood-curdling scream and crashed around the bed while I tried to hold her down.

After a few minutes, she lay motionless under me, her eyes closed. But something was different about her.

Something that sent chills down my spine.
