"My human"
Renee's POV
The ride back was a quiet one. I was clearly satisfied with myself and I made it very obvious, humming a nice tune as I drove into town.
It was almost 8 pm by now and I was in a hurry to meet Alpha Williams back at the hotel so we could go back home. I never knew she could be humbled this way but my victory was short lived.
We pulled up in front of the address she gave me and before she came down she leaned in to whisper, her hot breath on my neck causing a shiver to run down my spine almost immediately.
“I let you bark back there and I didn't say a word. Don't mistake my quietness for humility. I wouldn't need to lift a finger to put you back in a place you never knew you came out from.” She paused and lifted her eyes to look at me.
“I know you have a little crush for Williams,” she kissed her teeth and continued, “well too bad for you. I have him wrapped in between my legs and trust me, he has no intention of leaving,” she patted my lap and her smile turned deadly.
“Whatever you have planned, don't test my patience with it, I bite. You said hell's fury is like a flame compared to your rage? I'll gladly give you a one way ticket to go argue that out with Hades in hell,” she finished, her voice cold and menacing.
Something about the way she said it made me shiver. She's just bluffing right? I saw a side of her that is hidden behind the pretty face and teasing smile. And trust me, it was scary.
If I was to tell Alpha Williams this, he wouldn't believe me. So I'll rather monitor her from a distance and strike before she does. The deadly smile she had on a few minutes ago was gone and in their place was a sweet innocent smile.
She is really something.
As soon as she got down, I zoomed off. I could still see her staring at my car from the rearview mirror. And as I drove away, I could swear I saw a huge silver and a black wolf, standing at her left and right, all staring in my direction.
The Silver wolf looked bigger than any I've seen. Alpha Williams’ wolf can't even be compared to it and he's an Alpha!
I blinked my eyes and looked again, but she was standing alone. Was I hallucinating?
Who is Cleopatra??
I got to the hotel and made my way towards the Alpha’s office. Should I tell him that I ran into Cleopatra? Of what use would it be anyway?
I was still contemplating and didn't realize that I'd made it into his office.
“Renee?” Alpha Williams called, confusion etched in his voice. I shook my head trying to be calculative about what I should reveal. Do I tell him about the wolves or is it just all in my head?
“Renee?!” he yelled this time.
“I saw Cleopatra!” I blurted out. So much for being calculative, I scolded myself. I watched as his expressions shifted to a more agitated one.
“With the human boy?” he scoffed, trying to sound distant but I could hear the jealousy laced in his voice.
“No. She helped Mr Smith’s wife deliver her baby,” I said. I still found it all suspicious. How could she be there? How could she just leisurely be passing like she lives nearby?
I was expecting Alpha Williams to get suspicious. Who wouldn't?
“Was she with him? The human boy?” he asked, tapping his finger nervously on the table.
“What?” I croaked
Cleopatra was right. She had him wrapped between her legs!

Cleopatra's POV
She dares threaten me? What made her think I would let her spread her tiny wings around me? I needed to cool off before going inside.
How did I end up saving them and helping them add an extra member to their family when all I wanted was to kill them? Am I getting soft?
I paced up and down in front of Alex’s door. I hope they leave town tonight like I advised. I wouldn't hesitate to cut them down if I ever set eyes on them out here.
As I was about to open the door, I remembered something that bothered me earlier. What is he meeting Alpha Williams for tomorrow? I know it's not about me, so what could it be?
At least Alpha Williams and Renee saw me in the city today. They won't suspect me if they find out the book is missing right?
I turned the door knob but it was locked. What was I expecting? I knocked and Alex ran to the door.
“I have been so worried. I almost called the cops,” he said when I got into the house.
“You could have called if you were that worried,” I replied.
“Called? You left your phone here!”
“Oh,” I muttered. “I didn't even realize I wasn't with my phone.”
He noticed the blood stains and flinched. “Who's blood is that? Are you hurt?” he asked worriedly.
I smiled. He wasn't worried I killed someone? Why is he not afraid?
“You're not afraid that I could have killed someone?” I whispered.
He looked at me intensely and looked away almost immediately.
“I know you're not entirely human, Cleopatra. I also believe you can't hurt anyone without a justifiable reason. And I know you'll tell me everything when you are ready,” he replied.
“Should I run a bath for you?” he added and moved to the bathroom.
“How are you so sure?” I asked curiously.
“Mr Williams, earlier…he referred to me as the human from last time,” he replied lightly, not concerned about it.
“And it doesn't bother you that I may not be fully human?” I asked suspiciously.
“Why should it?” He replied and got around trying to set up the bath.
I felt so relieved and grateful that I met someone like him. I stood up and hugged him from behind. “You're my human,” I muttered softly and he chuckled.
“Get your bloody hands off me,” he joked, “Oh and your phone wouldn't stop ringing all night!”
I sprinted to where my phone was and picked it up. 15 missed calls from beta Jack. Uh-oh.
I called back immediately.
“Are you really stupid? Or reckless?” he barked into the phone.
That caught me off. What's wrong this time?
“What's wrong Beta..,”
“How dare you deceive us that you got the book of Alphas, when it's just a log book!” he yelled into the phone.
“What?!”
