A prisoner in my own body!
Cleopatra's POV
Pathetic.
A cold sweat broke out on my chin as I stormed out, leaving the door wide open. Should I be jealous? Good thing I'm not. If I had the slightest feeling for him, that weasel of a lady would have been dead already.
I didn't notice I was clutching my phone so hard until it snapped. Fuck!
“Hey are you OK? Alex asked, as he pulled me over, concern etched on his face. I thought he said he was leaving already.
“I thought you already left,” I said, ignoring his question. “Why are you still here?” I asked.
He stretched out his arm and handed me a hair band. “You said that you wanted one so I thought to get you a hair band from the store before leaving,” he replied with a soft smile. The last time someone smiled at me sweetly like this, he ended up being a maniac. Theo.
But there's something pure and genuine about Alex. I could feel it. My wo.. Hold on a sec. Why is my wolf dormant again I thought?
Something is definitely off about this. Should I tell Williams to have Eugene the pack doctor check me out? No! Alpha Kane said not to let them touch or give me any medicine.
Noticing that I spaced out, Alex tapped me lightly on the shoulder, “Need a ride home? You do look like you need a long soothing bath,” he offered.
I shook my head. I feel like taking a long run through the forest. I need to know if my wolf is alright.
“I'll be fine Alex. Thanks for the offer. I really need to run an errand. The kind that you don't wanna get involved with,” I joked and he laughed.
“OK. I'll let you go now. Call me?” He asked, pausing his mouth.
I looked down at my phone and his eyes followed mine. “What happened?” He demanded.
“It fell off my hand. But not to worry, I'll fix it up or get a new one. I'll definitely call you when I can,” I replied. ”Now shoo, get going!” I said pushing him and he laughed.
Slowly, I walked out of the hotel. The cool evening breeze was relaxing and filling. The bustling streets made me yearn for something more. Something more than this. But this is my fate, as a weapon trained to destroy a tyrant.
When I've covered a reasonable distance into the forest, I sprinted away. I closed my eyes, anticipating for my wolf to come out but it didn't. I stopped running, panting for air. Why is this happening?
I resume running again, my sides hurting like it's being pierced by a sharp cold object. After running for a mile, I could feel my wolf, reaching out to take over and when it finally did, we collapsed onto the ground, whimpering like a lost puppy.
How is this possible? I wondered. I tried getting up but it felt like I couldn't get my paws to stand firm on the ground. I felt heavy, as if anchored to the earth. Panic surged through me. This was not normal.
I tried changing back to my human form but couldn't. I felt like I was trapped in a cage, a prisoner in my own skin. A low growl rumbled from deep within me, a desperate plea of strength but nothing changed, I lay there, on the ground of the forest, in my wolf form.
Confusion and cold crept into my mind. Why is this happening to me?
A twig snapped behind me, and my heart leaped. A primal instinct to defend myself coursed through me. But my body, my wolf, refused to obey.
Come on! I muttered inside, willing my wolf to get up or let me take over but it just whimpered.
A pair of glowing red eyes appeared in the darkness, and my blood ran cold. It was then I realized the true extent of my helplessness. Not only was my wolf dormant, but she also wouldn't let me transform back to my human form.
I'm literally like a prey in the heart of the forest.
Who is watching me? And what did they want?
I managed to growl loud enough, battling within myself to push my wolf back. The glowing red eyes approached me and soon enough I could make out its features.
A lone wolf. It was covered in dirt and its furs looked like parts of it were shaved out. It crouched down and glared at me from a distance, snarling and snapping its teeth.
I can't die like this. In the hands of a lone wolf.
I steadied my breath, trying to calm my nerves and break out from my wolf. Just then, another wolf who looked exactly like the first joined the party. And here I was thinking I was dealing with just a lone wolf.
Two against one, and I was trapped with my wolf that refused to obey. They wouldn't have been anywhere close to being my opponents if this isn't happening.
Come on, I snarled to my wolf, fight or you let me take control. Nothing. Just a whimper.
A low growl echoed through the clearing as the two wolves lunged. I tried to dodge, to fight, but my wolf was not responsive. Their teeth sank into my flesh, pain exploding through me. I howled angrily.
And then, a spark ignited within me. I felt the shift, a tearing sensation as if something else was forcing my wolf back. Whatever it was, I was grateful. I was human again, pain shooting through my body as I stood on trembling legs.
Something's not right but before that, I'll deal with these mutts. I faced them, their eyes burning with savage intent.
I lunged at them before they could move and with a sickening crunch, one of the wolves fell as I struck it with a force that surprised me. The other turned to flee, seeing the damage but I caught up to it and brought it down.
Exhaustion washed over me as I looked at the dead wolves, their blood all over my body as if I fell into an ocean of blood. I collapsed to the ground, gasping for air.
I need to get back to the pack before I run into another rogue. Every step was agony, but I pushed on. Finally I saw the familiar outline of the Stone Heart Pack territory. Relief washed over me. I made my way in, trying to avoid being seen naked and covered in blood.
I stumbled upstairs and without thinking twice, opened the door to Alpha Williams’ room. I made it into the bathtub, filling it with water.
I felt strange, like there is an ongoing war raging inside me. A sharp pain shot through my stomach. I gasped, my hand flying to the place where I felt the pain.
Fear gripped me when I felt a presence in the bathroom. It felt like someone, or something was watching me. I slowly turned my head to the direction and froze on the spot.
It can't be.
