The return of the forgotten
Cleopatra's POV
We walked the distance past the pack house and into the hall for the meeting. It looked spectacular. The Alpha King's territory itself looked luxurious, like a mansion beautifully designed by a gifted architect.
Somehow, a sense of nervousness washed over me. I had never been in a room full of Alphas before, and I didn't know what to expect. But I put my hard girl face on and followed Alpha Williams with a confident stride.
I am Cleopatra. I am not easily intimidated by any man.
Alpha Williams intertwined his hand into mine as we passed several unfamiliar Alphas who turned to stare at me. I always have that effect.
“Alpha Williams,” I heard Renee call and rolled my eyes. What would she say this time?
She gave me a curt nod as she came close to us. Her expression turned sour when she saw our hands linked. Should I kill her after killing Williams? She always gets on my nerves.
“Renee,” Alpha Williams said to acknowledge her, “Is everything going as planned?” I heard him ask and she nodded.
What plan do they have going on?
“Can I talk to you for a second?” She asked and he nodded. “In private, Williams,” she added and I looked up at her, startled.
She calls him Williams? Do they have something going on or perhaps a history? The shock on my face got wider when he nodded and let go of my hand gently. Why didn't he warn her or something and why is it bothering me??!
“Stay here, I'll be right back,” he said softly and walked away with her.
Why did seeing them together this way make my chest tighten? Why do I care anyway? I thought angrily. Maybe I'll bury them next to each other when I do kill them.
After their brief exchange, he returned to my side.
“Hold on, Is she going in with you?” She asked, her voice reeking of disapproval.
“As a matter of fact, yes. I-um don't want to leave her alone,” he said and turned to walk away.
“Since she's now a baby, why don't I babysit for you, Alpha?” she retorted sarcastically.
Alpha Williams turned around to answer her but I cut him off. “Are you sure about that? Can you handle me?” I asked teasingly and flashed her a sweet smile.
“What does that even mean?” She asked, confused.
“Well, it means that Alpha Williams can take care of me in…,”
“That's enough Cleopatra,” Alpha Williams said, his voice a bit hoarse. “I'll rather have her with me, Renee. Now go ahead and make sure we have everything in place,” he growled and grabbed my hand.
I turned back to look at Renee as Alpha Williams and I walked towards the hall. Her face was a mask of anger and jealousy. Poor Renee.
“She calls you Williams?” I demanded out of nowhere, not being able to cage the curiosity. That is the only explanation for the outburst. It can't be jealousy. Why would I be jealous when I want nothing more but to kill him?
“Jealous?” He asked with a sneaky smile and I pulled my hand out of his. He flinched and a flicker of something unrecognizable crossed his features.
“Don't ever let go of my hands that way again,” he growled into my ears, his voice low and soft. I couldn't stop the excitement that tickled down my legs. Am I really the seductress?
“OK,” I said almost immediately as if his voice compelled me to. I soon clasped my mouth with my hand as soon as the word came out but he chuckled.
“Stick to calling me Alpha, I like the way it sounds when you say it,” he whispered and pulled me closer as we resumed walking.
When we arrived at the meeting hall, I was immediately struck by its grandeur. It was a large, ornate room with a high ceiling and a long, rectangular table that stretched across the center.
As we entered the hall, all eyes turned to us. I could feel the tension in the air as the Alphas studied me, their expressions ranging from admiration, curiosity and lust.
I briefly exchanged knowing glances with Alpha Kane as he smiled at me with satisfaction.
As soon as we got in, some guards entered and the ones standing outside shut the heavy door. I guess we were the last to make it in.
“Welcome, Alphas,” I heard a voice say. The sound caused me to sit upright as the power it carried made my wolf whimper.
The Alpha king.
I studied his imposing figure. Something about his striking green eyes looked so familiar. Alpha Williams pulled my seat closer to his and rested his left hand on my thighs possessively as if declaring to all the Alphas present that am his.
Speaking of Alphas, I don't see Alpha Dylan anywhere, I thought but soon rolled my eyes when I caught him peeking at me from the other end of the table.
After the introductions that almost took forever, the Alpha King, who's name is Timothy cleared his throat and began to speak. “We have gathered here today to discuss matters of great importance,” he said. “One of which could have a profound impact on the future of all the packs represented here today.”
As he continued to speak, I listened intently. My eyes momentarily landed on those of Alpha Kane's and his were furious.
I quickly remembered why I was there in the first place. To distract right? Just as I was about to do what I've planned all along, the Alpha King's next words made me freeze.
“I and some of the elders have already appointed the Alphas early this morning and the markings have been sealed. One of the appointees who happens to be my nephew…Williams can you come forward?” he said.
What?!! Nephew? The appointment had already happened? Is that why he looked familiar? Something in his eyes is undeniably similar to Alpha Willaims’ eyes.
This is not good! I looked nervously at Alpha Kane and his eyes were murderous. Same with Alpha Dylan. He can't blame me for this right?
But somehow, the look he gave me made me feel like he blames me for it.
Just as Alpha Williams was approaching the Alpha king, a loud blood curdling scream rang out and the door was knocked down.
Isn't it too late for the rogues to come in now? What can they do now? The appointment had already happened. Wait, those are no rouges.
My eyes widened in shock as I stared into the eerie red glowing eyes that loomed in the doorway.
How on earth are they here?
