"You can drive me"

Cleopatra's POV

Uh-oh

Why did I have to run into Alpha Williams now and what is he doing on this side of town? I whipped my head up in surprise and looked at him, Renee was walking up to his side.

His face was a mask of confusion and irritation as his eyes landed on Alex. Instinctively, I stood in front of Alex.

I don't even know why I did that but something in his eyes told me he would not hesitate to tear Alex up and I can't let anyone hurt him.

The look he gave me when he noticed my reaction was deadly. I stepped forward to his side and stopped dead on my track when I saw Mr Smith standing beside him. He dropped his head down as soon as our eyes met.

What are they doing together? Could it be he told Alpha Williams about the attack on his family? My heart pounded like a drumbeat against my ribs. A cold sweat broke out on my palms as I tried to process the scene unfolding before me.

Why didn't he just stay hidden? What if my Alpha gets to know that I spared his life? What if Alpha Williams discovers that I was the assassin sent to kill Mr Smith?

Everything will be ruined!

A million thoughts raced through my mind, each one more terrifying than the last. I should have just killed him and his family back then. My gaze darted between the three of them, searching for answers, but finding only more questions.

I felt like I was trapped in a maze of uncertainty. I needed to think fast but my mind was a whirlwind of panic. I couldn't afford to make a mistake. One wrong move and it could all be over.

“I asked you a question Cleopatra!” Alpha Williams growled, pulling me back to the impossible scene in front of me. “What are you doing riding recklessly throughout the street? Are you that desperate for attention?” he spat angrily.

His low menacing growl sent shivers down my spine. I forced myself to meet his gaze, my voice steady despite the questions going on in my head.

“Alpha Williams, what a pleasant surprise,” I said, my tone laced with feigned nonchalance.

“Drop the act, Cleopatra. And this is the man from last time? Are you guys on a little getaway? A fun trip round the street?” He asked sarcastically.

“He is someone I care about. I came to fix my phone and decided to say hi,” I responded simply, my voice firm.

I could feel Mr. Smith’s gaze on me, heavy with guilt and anticipation. I focused my attention on him and asked, “Why are you here anyway? Business meeting?”

Renee growled at me. “It's not something you should bother your pretty little head about.”

“OK then. We'll be on our way out of your business,” I replied with sarcasm laced in my tone and pulled Alex.

I breathed out a sigh of relief. He didn't tell them about me yet.

“Come on Alex. Let's get out of here,” I said as he pulled the motorcycle up.

“Maybe I should ride?” Alex said, ignoring the death stares Alpha Williams threw in his direction.

“Why not?” I muttered. I turned and looked at Alpha Williams before adding, “You can drive me. I'll let you be in charge.”

His eyes darkened and I could see his fists clench. Alex, unaware of the subtle meaning, smiled.

“Hop on then! It's gonna be a long ride,” he said cheerfully.

“Oh this is gonna be so fun,” I muttered to myself.

I saw the look in his eyes before mounting on the motorcycle and grabbing Alex's waist. If fury had a face, it would be similar to the one Alpha Williams had on right now.

Would he stop me from going with Alex?

He didn't. But strode off before Alex could turn on the ignition. Somehow, that hurt my feelings.

Alex took me to his house. It wasn't grand but it looked like home. We played a game of chess and he kept winning each time which frustrated me.

“Ok ok,” Alex said amidst laughter. “I promise to teach you how to play one of these days,” he said, trying to comfort me.

We hung out some more, talked about ourselves and what we liked, which I found very comforting because no one has been this interested in getting to know the real me behind the looks and strength.

“Oh my God!” Alex screamed and got up quickly from the couch.

“Quit screaming into my ears,” I groaned and covered my ears.

“My car! It's still at the Cafe,” he said hurriedly and ran out with me hot on his heels.

“Can you stop me over there?” I said to Alex after we had picked up his car and were making our way back to his place.

He looked over and saw Alpha Williams’ hotel and his expression turned sour.

“Sure, but why?” he asked, concerned.

“I have a little business to settle with someone. A ghost from the past,” I replied with a distant look in my eyes, “Something I should have settled a long time ago.”

He looked at me with concern etched on his face.
“You're coming back to my place when you're done?” He asked softly.

“Of fucking course! My ride back home is at your place remember?” I replied with a soft chuckle.

And with that, I moved away from the car and crossed over to the other side of the road. It was about six in the evening. Alpha Williams should be rounding up for the day.

I leisurely strode to a hidden corner and stayed still, darting my gaze from time to time.

After thirty minutes, Renee came out with Mr. Smith. She bid him farewell, and went back into the hotel. As for me, I secretly followed Mr Smith from a distance.

It's time to make him disappear for good. And this time, I'll make sure he doesn't find a way to come back alive.
