In the Alpha's arms
Williams’ POV
I froze. What was happening? Her voice, small and trembling, sent a shiver down my spine. Is something serious going on or is she playing a trick?
“Cleopatra,” I whispered, my voice soft. I never knew my voice could come out this soft. “What’s wrong?”
There was a long silence, broken only by her soft sobs. My heart ached. I wanted to comfort her, to hold her in my arms and make everything alright. But I couldn’t. I couldn’t let her see that side of me. She meant nothing to me other than someone I share my bed with!
I couldn’t stop myself from reaching out tentatively and touching her shoulder. She flinched again, but this time, she didn’t pull away.
Her body was trembling slightly as I gently pulled her into my arms. “It’s alright,” I murmured, stroking her hair. “I’m here.”
After what felt like an eternity, her sobs began to subside. She pulled away slightly and avoided my eyes.
“I’m sorry,” she whispered, her voice barely audible. I have never seen her like this before. She looked so fragile and vulnerable. She has always seemed like someone who can take on the whole world but tonight, she looked like a child that needed protection.
I shook my head. “Don’t apologize,” I replied softly. “What happened?”
She took a deep breath, her eyes filled with a mixture of fear and anger.
“I…I saw him,” she said, her voice trembling.
My heart skipped a beat. Who? What was she talking about?
“Who, Cleopatra?” I asked, my voice gentle.
She hesitated, her grip on my arm tightening. “The man from the forest,” she replied.
A chill ran down my spine. What man from the forest? What is really going on?
“You need to be clear, Cleopatra. What man?”
“He was here,” she continued, her voice barely above a whisper. “He was watching me. I can still feel his eyes on me.”
Someone had been watching her? In my territory? Anger rose like a bile in my throat. Could this be the same person Abel talked about earlier? How did they let him slip away?
Who exactly is this person and how does he have this much effect to make her tremble this way? I thought.
“Who was here, Cleopatra?” I asked, pulling her head up to my direction. Her eyes were a mix of fear and anger.
“I was kidnapped when I was fifteen by a rogue. I hadn’t gotten my wolf then so I was powerless. They..they did things to me..they tortured me for weeks,” she resumed her sobbing and I pulled her closer, holding her until her breathing became steady. “I was nearly dead when Alpha Kane and our warriors found me,” she finished and hugged me tighter.
“I’m going to find him,” I promised, my voice firm. “No one will hurt you as long as I’m here.”
She nodded and relaxed a little.
I knew I had to find this man at all costs. I could feel my wolf angrier by the second. I haven’t been able to find the rogue that killed my mate. How can I promise her that I would find the rogue that caused her childhood nightmares?
Somehow I felt like finding him will help me heal from not finding my mate’s killer. Somehow I had this deep feeling that this mysterious man could be connected to what happened to my mate years back.
That thought alone made me more determined as I swore under my breath to get to the bottom of this.

Cleopatra’s POV
I watched as Alpha Williams’s face softened, his expression one of genuine concern. Perfect. This was going exactly as planned.
I changed my mind about staying over at Alex’s place as soon as I got out of the bathroom. I knew I had to do something fast.
The meeting of the Alphas is in a week's time and Alpha Kane wants the book before then.
The book of Alphas is a historical book kept hidden for generations. The Alpha king always entrusts it in the hands of the Alpha he trusts the most.
Just imagine when they all gather for the meeting and Alpha Willaims doesn’t have it? He would lose his place with the Alpha king. That’s my Alpha’s plan. To cripple Alpha Willaims connection with the Alpha king.
The urgency in the whole situation made me restrategize on my way back. What Alpha male doesn’t crumble for a beautiful lady in distress?
That was when I planned to go this way. I’ll show him this vulnerable side so that he would feel closer to me, making it harder for him to doubt me. I hope Renee doesn’t ruin it at least.
I continued to feign vulnerability, my voice trembling slightly. “I’m so scared,” I whispered, my eyes wide with fear.
I reached out and took his hand, squeezing it gently. I could feel his body tense, and a surge of satisfaction ran through me. I was gaining control.
“I know,” he replied, his voice filled with reassurance. “I’ll make sure nothing happens to you.”
I nodded, my eyes filled with tears. I was playing a dangerous game, but the prize was worth it. Williams, the Alpha of the Stone Heart Pack, under my control.
“I don’t want to be alone tonight,” I whispered, my voice barely audible.
He pulled me closer, his arms enveloping me in a protective embrace. I closed my eyes, savoring the moment. This was it, the first step in my plan. He must think at this point, I’m some broken princess.
I had to play my cards right. I needed to make him believe that I could be weak, and I needed his protection. Only then could I truly manipulate him.
I pulled away slightly, looking up at him with a hopeful expression. “Promise me you won’t let him find me,” I said, my voice trembling.
He looked at me with a mixture of tenderness and determination. “I promise,” he replied, his voice firm.
I smiled inwardly. This could be easier than I thought.
