The Bottle
Williams POV
I slammed my fist on the table, sending tremors all over. I told her to leave didn't I? Her presence here is beginning to gnaw at my mind.
The calculated look in her eyes does this thing to my head that I cannot explain. After her declaration. I sat down next to her because that was the only option, except I wanted to sit close to Dylan. Her hands on my laps sent shivers down my spine as she worked her way, gently caressing my dick like it meant the world to her.
I longed for nothing more than to bend her over on this table and drive into her until she fell apart but I controlled my needs, swallowing hard and stifling the moans with a cough.
It's been minutes since she walked out to attend to a visitor and I haven't seen her. I ignored Dylan’s teethless growls and exited the hall. As soon as I got out, I saw my beta, in a combat stance with Cleopatra.
“What is going on here?” I asked, eyeing both of them skeptically. They both withdrew, and turned towards me. I watched as Cleopatra made her way towards me, hips swinging delicately and her eyes never leaving mine. Before she could get to me, my Beta rushed forward and blocked the path.
“She is hiding something Alpha,” I heard Renee say to me. “Something is definitely not right with this woman, I saw someone handing her a strange bottle.”
I looked over at Cleopatra and just as I expected, she didn't defend herself. She remained calm like she wasn't being accused.
“Let me see the bottle, Cleopatra,” I ordered. I won't think twice about having her head if she's a spy sent to destroy my pack. I hate betrayers.
The unperturbed look she's had all these while shifted a bit as I ordered her to bring the bottle.
“It’s a concoction for my wolf,” she replied, eyes steadily on mine.
“Let me see the bottle,” I demanded one more time.
She reached into her skirt but the war cries of my me broke the tension, the suspicion momentarily forgotten, as I saw rogues lined up in front of the gate.
What in the name of all things! Two attacks in just a week? This can't be coincidental, I thought, looking at Cleopatra who has already taken a fight stance.
“They're here for her Alpha,” One of my men spat, gesturing towards Cleopatra wearily. “That's what they said.”
“For me?” I heard her ask, as she staggered back. “Wait, is this some sort of joke?”
“Maybe she's not who she claims to be Alpha,” Renee said. “Why else will these vile rogues be here for her? Maybe she's their leader’s betrothed?” She suggested pure hatred laced in her words.
Just the thought of Cleopatra being with another man sent anger coursing through me. Why?
“Just let us have her, and we will walk away like we never came,” One of them, who was still in his human form yelled.
“But you did come,” I replied dryly. “You came into my territory, asking I hand over my visitor?” I thundered.
Sneaky rogues.
“You can't have her, either you leave in one piece or I tear you into several pieces and scatter you for the vultures to feast on,” I growled coldly, daring them to take a step forward.
“But Alpha…”
“Enough Renee! I order you as your Alpha, Enough!”
She bowed her head and looked ahead at the intruders, waiting for my order to attack them.
From the corner of my eyes, I saw one rogue, lunging at Cleopatra, its claws ready to tear her apart but before it could make it ten feets close to her, she tore him apart.
She looked daring, like an assassin, with blood all over her hands and dress.
“I get this a lot Alpha,” she said with a small laugh. “Is this the first time you're seeing an unreciprocated affection turn sour?”
I can't help but admire her courage.
“Tell your leader that I'll still turn him down even if he is the last man on earth,” she yelled at the top of her voice.
I just stood there, studying her carefully. How can something so sweet also be so deadly? She's definitely in trouble, I thought. But I don't mind this kind of trouble, the things I could do to her.
While I was still immersed in dirty thoughts, I missed the timing. A wolf lunged at her and dug his claws across open thighs. Her ferocious scream pulled me out of whatever cloud I was in and had me jumping at the wolf, violently ripping it apart. As I caught her in my hands, I momentarily saw a look in her eyes. It was not one of fear, or hurt but nonchalance? Who could she really be? But just then, it was replaced with a cry of pain and I snapped out of my suspicion.
“Don't let any of them escape!” I yelled at my Beta “Kill them all.”
I picked Cleopatra up and a bottle fell out of her dress. I quickly picked it up and carried her, bridal style into the pack house.
“Alpha Williams, I'm fine.” That was what she sang throughout the journey to my room.
“I said I'm fine!” she yelled. “What makes you think I'm a damsel in distress? It's not the first time and I can take care of myself.”
“I know your wound is already closed up. Go and clean up,” I said to her calmly. “ You're my visitor, and it's my duty to protect you.”
I turned to leave the room, the bottle in my hand. “Can I have my medicine?” she asked, looking at me with those piercing eyes.
“I need it to feel at ease,” She added, walking closer to me, her movement sending waves of urge through me.
“Clean up Cleopatra, you can come for it when you've done that,” I said, barely holding myself back from pushing to the bed and driving into her.
I left my room quickly before I'd be tempted to break my resolve, ignoring her attempt to come closer to me.
I turned towards my study and picked up my phone. The voice on the other end made me remember my mate and days after her death. It was the darkest period of my existence.
“Yes Alpha,” our pack doctor answered almost immediately.
“Come to my office as fast as you can Eugene,” I ordered.
Time to find out what this little raven is hiding inside this bottle.
