“To victories won and enemies lost”
Kane’s POV
“And that my friend, is how you cripple your enemies,” I exclaimed with a hearty laughter. I was beyond excited.
Slowly, little by little, I will cripple Williams so that by the time I strike, he would be too injured to fight back.
Cleopatra’s information came right on time and we moved in. I didn’t send the pack warriors on the mission this time, I sent my personally trained men, the most lethal among all my trained soldiers.
“This calls for a celebration!” I declared out loud to Jack who stood close to me with a wide grin. Things were beginning to slip out of my control but not anymore. I’m slowly taking back the reins.
The attack of earlier and the threatening message shook me to the bones but I’ve put counter measures to keep an eye out. Next time whoever it is strikes again, he won’t live to tell the tale.
No one messes with me.
I’ve severed tires with Alpha Dylan and I made sure he got the message. Next time our paths cross, we will be doing more than just exchanging pleasantries.
And for Simone, he thought he could double-cross me? I’ve already sent Roy to track him down and bring Alex to me. It’s time I close that chapter for good.
I smiled in content and stretched my bones. As I turned to sit, a knock came. “Come in,” I called and the door was thrown open. The rogue Alpha, Kyle strode in confidently with a big smile on his face.
“I guess you forgot to invite me to the party,” he drawled, making his way further into the room.
“Don’t be silly Kyle,” I laughed. “A win for me, is a win for you. Here, take a seat,” I said, gesturing to a seat in front of me. Jack sat down as well.
I leaned back in my chair, feeling the satisfaction of everything finally falling into place. Williams would be so confused right now and just the thought of that got me all excited.
Cleopatra had proven to be a valuable asset this time. Soon, Williams would be too weak to even see the final blow coming.
Jack poured us some drinks and raised his glass to toast. “To victories won and enemies lost,” he toasted, his voice full of contentment. My dear kind beta doesn't even have any idea how huge this game is. They are all dancing to the beat I’m making.
I clicked my glass with his, and then Kyle’s, feeling the cool burn of whiskey slide down my throat.
“Williams has always been too confident,” I said, leaning forward with a dark glint in my eyes. “He’s been riding high on his position for too long, thinking the Alpha king’s influence could shield him forever. But power, they say, fades when you’re bleeding from a thousand wounds.”
Kyle chuckled darkly. “Cleopatra did well. My men combined with your special team landed them a fatal blow they won’t recover from in a hurry. But are you sure she can be trusted? Women like her, they always have their own game to play.”
I waved my hand dismissively. “I know Cleopatra. She’s in this because I’m her Alpha and she has sworn her loyalty to me. Besides,” I added with a smirk, “people can be dangerous when they’re not afraid of anything. I’ve made sure she’s terrified of crossing me. I hold a secret she doesn’t want the whole realm to discover.”
Kyle nodded but his face remained calculative, all the while, Jack had been listening silently. As soon as the room became quiet, he spoke up.
“And what about Cleopatra’s safety Alpha?” he asked, his voice low. “She’s close to Williams. If he finds out Cleopatra is a spy, aren’t you afraid of what he could do to her? Like you said, he’s brutal and merciless, greatly feared among all of our kind. A person who killed his own mate is not a human but a monster.”
I smiled at the concern in his voice and the ignorance laced in his words. I am the monster. I killed both my mine and Williams’ mate.
“That won’t be a problem. Cleopatra has eaten her way into Williams’ heart already and he has become too distracted by her. His weakness is his heart and slowly, Cleopatra is becoming his heart. That’s how he’ll lose everything.”
Jack nodded in agreement and excused himself, leaving Kyle and I alone in my study. As he turned to leave, I saw a hint of uneasiness and concern still etched in his eyes.
I hope for his own sake that he doesn’t have any plans of going against me in the future.
The room felt darker now, the satisfaction of our ambush already in the air. Willaims wouldn’t know it yet, but his downfall had already begun. Let him scramble, let him try to protect his territory—by the time I strike, he’ll be too broken to resist.
Kyle’s eyes gleamed with anticipation as I filled him in on the plan I'd mapped out. He lived for these moments—the planning, the execution and the bloodshed. That’s why I kept him close.
“We’ve worked too hard to get this far, Alpha Kane,” Kyle said, leaning back in his chair.
I grunted in approval and looked at him. “Williams and anyone else who stands in our way…they’re just obstacles, and you know how I handle obstacles.”
“Crush them,” Kyle said with a deadly smile.
I stood up, feeling the rush of power surging through me. Every move, every decision had been deliberate. And now, I could feel it. Victory is near.
“Williams should wait and see,” I said, my voice full of confidence. “Let him try to secure his territory. Our weapon is right by his side. He has no idea what’s coming for him.”
I stretched and turned to look out the window, the night sky seemed endless, as dark and merciless as my plans. The pieces were beginning to fall back in place, and soon, Williams wouldn’t just lose his power— he’d lose everything.
And he would lose it all to me. I would make sure of it.
