"Cleopatra is gone!"
Williams’ POV
“Now tell me,” I growled dangerously to the invader, “who sent you?”
He shook his head and I smiled. It's absolutely funny when people think they can remain loyal in the face of extreme torture. I rolled up my sleeves and bent down to his level.
His eyes darted everywhere else but never on me. I held his face and forced him to look at me. There was extreme fear in it and a flicker of defiance. What was he expecting? That he won't be caught?
Last night, after I had made sure Cleopatra was stabilized and there was a maid watching her, I went out on a hunt. I knew I needed to catch the spy who is also the man that gave her nightmares and make him pay.
It didn't take me up to thirty minutes to catch him. The rat! I dragged him back to my pack screaming and thrashing around. This is just the beginning of his nightmares. He would pay for everything he made Cleopatra go through.
I focused my attention back to him, my hands still on his chin, keeping his face to look at mine.
“I'm going to ask you one more time,” I said, my voice a low menacing growl, “What were you doing outside of my pack? And who sent you?”
He held my gaze with his turning mischievous and then spat on my face. I chuckled. Does he want to die so badly?
I wiped the spit off my face. My patience was wearing thin. I motioned to Renee to hand me over the silver blade. The man's eyes widened in horror as I taunted him, placing the cold steel on his neck.
I leaned in close and whispered into his ears, “Would you rather tell me, or should I make you wish for death instead?”
His eyes were wide with terror but it still held a flicker of defiance in them. I placed his right hand on the table, using the chains to keep them still. He couldn't move it even if he wanted to.
“Now listen to me,” I said again, getting irritated at not taking actions immediately, “I don't want to spend all day here with you, so for every time you spend not telling me what I want, I will be cutting off your fingers, slice after slice, cut after cut,” I whispered, my voice dropping with contempt.
He didn't move to say a word. I've tried my best to be civil.
The screams that followed filled the silence in the cell. His body twitched but he didn't show any signs of caving in.
“Let me handle him Alpha,” Renee said from the corner, her fists clenched.
I raised my hand, motioning for her to stand back.
I brought the knife to the man's face and aimed it at his eye. His breathing became ragged as he tried to move away from me. His body was tense and I knew it was only a matter of minutes before he's ready to talk.
“Wait-wait please,” he pleaded.
I paused and looked at him. The battle within was evident in his eyes.
“Tsk Tsk, I'm going easy on you. Do you think you could have lasted this long if I wanted to torture you?” I asked when he hesitated to tell me what I needed to know.
I lunged a hard blow across his face and he coughed out blood.
“Alpha Dylan,” he croaked out, “he sent me.”
A cold smile played on my lips as I looked at him. His breathing grew labored, his eyes glazed over.
“Now over to the main question,” I said, looming over him. “Why were you watching Cleopatra? You want to complete what you started years back?”
I didn't miss the confusion and surprise in his bloodied eyes. “Who is Cleopatra?”
“Do you still want to play games? Should I remind you how to talk?” I asked coldly.
“I swear..I swear on the moon goddess Alpha Willaims, I don't know who that is..please you have to believe me,” he pleaded.
“Is this the first time you stepped foot close to my pack? Now think very well, think back to years ago. Is this your first time crossing my territory?” I demanded, with a little flicker of hope.
“No-no I mean yes! Yes! I've never been here before. Last night was the first time, that's why I couldn't find my way back easily,” he replied.
He was telling the truth. Who then did Cleopatra see? Could it be that there was someone else? No. If there was, my warriors would have caught his scent.
“Is Cleopatra awake?” I asked Renee.
“I'm not so sure Alpha. I'll have to call the maid with her to find out,” she said and pulled out her phone.
“What were you sent to do?” I demanded my attention back to the man.
He hesitated and that landed him another cut. He screamed out in pain.
“I-I was just instructed to come and see how secure your pack is Alpha Williams, please you have to believe me. That was all,” he croaked. His tears were now mingled with the blood on his face, leaving an unpleasant trail on his cheek.
“And what does he plan to do with the information?” I asked once more.
Alpha Dylan is beginning to get on my nerves. We were never alleys but we weren't enemies either. Why would he do this? What are his plans? I am very sure he didn't act on his own. Who is the real mastermind behind this?
The man was crying and pleading that he wasn't aware of any plans.
“I don't know please. I was just instructed to spy on how tight the security is and come back with the information.”
I became angry and agitated. They are up to something. I've been trying to keep a low profile since my mate died but for some time now with all the rogue attacks and the spies, it's clear they are taunting me. And I will be ready whenever they decide to pay me a visit.
I swore to my father that I would protect our pack with my life or die trying. And that is exactly what I will do.
“Alpha Williams,” Renee called, her voice laced with confusion.
“Is she awake?” I demanded.
“Uhm…they can't find Cleopatra.”
“What do you mean by that?” I asked urgently and made my way to where she was standing.
“Cleopatra is gone,” Renee replied, the look on her face, mirroring the same I had on. Confusion.
Gone? How? Why?
