Unexpected Chaos

Williams’ POV

The scent of blood hit me before the scream even faded.

I was already moving, instincts honed from years of battle kicking in. Cleopatra was right beside me, her eyes wide, and for a second, I caught the shimmer in them. Her hair…it was white. How had I not noticed earlier?

The screams intensified, echoing from the courtyard, and I pushed forward, bursting through the grand doors and into the chaos outside.

The courtyard, once peaceful and grand when I walked in earlier, was now a battlefield. Shadows danced under the full moon as the battle raged on. Who dared to attack the Alpha King's territory?

That was when I saw him. The wolf who had kidnapped Alex. The wolf who is supposed to cause my downfall. I watched as the clan banished by the Alpha king charged in their numbers as they were locked in a savage fight with the warriors of the territory.

Simone. The one my father had gotten exiled years ago. The one with a grudge as deep as the rivers of blood. And alongside him was a clan I had forgotten existed. The Night Wolves, their eyes gleaming with vengeance.

Why the fuck are they together? And why now? I didn't come with my warriors. It definitely doesn't look good for us.

My heart pounded in anger as I scanned the chaos. Where was Renee? I caught sight of Lucien, his figure towering as he took down two attackers with a vicious sweep of his claws.

How come they are here too? What the hell is going on?

But before I could locate the others, a howl pierced the night, sending a cold chill down my spine.

I recognize that howl.

The Night Wolf Alpha.

I spun around just in time to see him step into the clearing, his dark eyes locked on Cleopatra, a twisted grin spreading across his scarred face. His one remaining arm hung loosely by his side, but even with the missing limb, he still stood defiantly and dangerously.

“You should've killed me when you had the chance, little one,” he sneered, his voice dropping with venom. “But now, it's my turn to finish what I started.”

My blood roared in my veins, and my wolf surged forward, but before I could move, Cleopatra stepped in front of me, her stance firm. Her hair gleamed under the moonlight, and I saw something in her—-the kind of strength she had radiated before but this time…it seemed more ancient.

“Get behind me, Cleopatra!” my wolf growled protectively, but she didn't move.

“No,” she whispered, her voice steady. “Like always, he's mine.”

The Night Wolf Alpha laughed, the sound harsh and cruel. “How noble. But you're no match for me, dear niece, the same way your father was no match for me.”

Cleopatra's eyes flared up in fury, and in one swift motion, she shifted. Her form exploded into her wolf—-wolves? They were larger than any wolf I'd ever seen before, her fur silver with streaks of black and her blue eyes glowing with so much intensity.

The air crackled with energy, and the Night Wolf Alpha hesitated. He didn't think this through, did he? Just for a moment, his confidence faltered as Cleopatra let out a bone-chilling growl.

The battle raged on around us and I soon came face to face with Simone. I had Renee do some digging around him and where they've been hiding all these years.

The Night Wolf Alpha lunged, his speed unmatched, but Cleopatra was faster. She dodged his attack and slammed into him with a force that sent him crashing to the ground. Her jaws snapped into his throat but he managed to twist away, his remaining arm stroking out in a vicious arc.

I wanted to abandon Simone and tear the Night Wolf Alpha to pieces. To rip him apart for everything he had done to Cleopatra. But this was her fight. And I had to face mine.

I clashed into Simone with a renewed force, teeth gnashing, claws tearing through flesh.

Blood sprayed across the courtyard as the fight unfolded. And then, as if on cue, reinforcements arrived. Rob, Renee and the realm warriors charged in with a force, barreling into the attackers with savage precision.

Our warriors surged forward, pushing back the attackers. “You can't get rid of me that easily, Alpha,” Simone growled, “a prophecy has bound us together, remember?”

Before I could answer, Lucien slammed into Simone, throwing him out of my grip. “Go to her before she loses control!” he yelled, pointing to Cleopatra.

I caught sight of her, locked in combat with the Night Wolf Alpha, her face twisted in fury. Her opponent's movements were now sluggish as she outmaneuvered him at every turn, treating him as a prey.

With a final, savage strike, she brought him to his knees, her jaws closing around his throat.

It was over I thought.

But instead of delivering the final blow, she paused, her eyes flickering with something I couldn't place.

The Night Wolf Alpha, bloodied and defeated, looked up at her with a twisted smile. “You're stronger than I thought, Cleopatra, I can see they have awakened your powers,” he rasped. “But you've only delayed the inevitable.”

I rushed to where they stood and lunged at him, he collided with a nearby wall as he crashed down. His face was pale but defiant. “You've made another mistake,” he echoed as he backed away slowly, his voice low and dangerous, “I'll be back for you.”

His eyes roved over her, studying her with a chilling intensity. “And when I do, I'll enjoy ripping that little thing growing in your stomach out.”

Cleopatra froze, her fur rippling as she stepped forward. Her wolves growled angrily, charging as though to capture the Night wolf Alpha but he had already fled, they were retreating now as our men charged on heavily.

Wait what?

My blood ran cold as I recalled what he had just said. “Little thing growing in your stomach?” I muttered.

I stared at Cleopatra, my heart pounding in my chest as the weight of his words sank in. Could it be true? Could she be…?

I just stood there, frozen in place, my mind reeling with a thousand questions as Rob and Lucien rushed forward to her, trying to get her wolves to calm down.

Could I really bring her back into my life after everything that had happened? My wolf howled in protest at the idea of abandoning her. I moved closer to her, crouching down to stare into her blue eyes.

This wasn’t going to be that simple.

Not anymore.

Because if she was carrying my child…everything had just changed.

Everything.
